I have read on the forums that FCA had a bad batch of batteries. Does it only happen when you first start it for the day? It could be the ESS battery and I would have the dealer test it.
Yup...seems to be on the first start. Turn it off and back on and it goes away!
Yeah, it sounds like a system that could up being a headache for the driver. Starter motors aren't cheap either, which will definitely fail more frequently...bad idea.

Yes I’m having the same issue and I’ve taken my gladiator in a couple times for this problem. They can’t get it to duplicate the issue so I go pick it up again. I even videoed it showing what is does. The service tec said they can’t do anything until it happens when they start the Jeep.
Mine said the same, but to drive it over when the problem is happening and not to shut it off so they can see it.
2018 Jeep Compass: having same light indicator. Was intermittent now won’t go away. Doesn’t impact driving and didn’t like system anyways. Think I’ll just leave it
Yep. Nearly all the time. Seems to occur every two weeks. Lastly I’ve also got the engine light showing. Dealer said it is all related however that hasn’t been my experience. I’ve both on the same time and I’ve had each one one by itself. Dealer replaced my O2 sensor but I still have the issue.

I have the same problem with my gladiator since day one. I have the same auto stop start eliminator as you. I also know know taking it to the dealership without the error active is going to be a waste of my time. I know it very well. In my prior life I worked at a dealership and I know that it’s a hit or mis if the code is not active. I have decided to not even worry about it until I hear from someone that has the solution. I love this vehicle and I don’t have plans to trade it in, at least not at this time. Good luck

The eliminator may be causing the issue. I saw somewhere that the system recognizes that Start/Stop is Never triggered so it creates an Error.
I have the same issue in my 2019 grand Cherokee. This last time the car began shaking. Put it in park, shut off the engine and turned it back on. Light was off no shaking. Wife is concerned to drive it now... have an appointment at a dealer on Thursday. Hopefully they can give her some piece of mind.

Me too replace the tiny little battery. Go through the wheel well to replace it or you have to remove your fuse box which would be a real bummer.

I’m having exactly the same problem as we speak. 2021 jeep gladiator. It’s been fix four times and it’s still not working properly.
I have the same problem with my 2020 gladiator sport since I left the dealership. I took back for service and 6 months later back to square one. It's frustrating and costly ones your warranty is over just for an auxiliary battery replacement...they don't last long at all and it's a consistent expense.

Which start/stop eliminator were you using? Was it the Smart Start/Stop version?
The problem wasn’t with the auto stop eliminator. It’s with the Jeep.
I have a 2020 Gladiator Overland edition and I’m having the same problem it seems when I drive a certain distance.

Huh. I don’t have that auto start warning light.
The problem is, I don’t know what causes the auto start/stop. Sometimes it just won’t trip on while I’m at a total stop at a red light.
I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the car or if it’s just auto start being itself. If anyone knows what trips it, let me know.
My 2019 JLU Start Stop stopped working. I too leave my AC on Lo year round and the start stop usually doesn’t come on A few days ago my Jeep wouldn’t start and then I would take my finger off the starter button and try again and it would start. I had battery and alternator checked and both were good. I also got several error codes like engine was too cold (70°F outside) and the amp made a pop like it was turned on with no input. Also, I got a red light on the dash (security system?). Now the start stop system has completely stopped working and I have the error message on my dash like you do. 2 week wait for an appointment at the dealer.

I have a new 2023 gladiator. The start/stop never worked in the first 1550 miles. I had an issue with the auxiliary battery. Dealer changed it, and start/stop worked for two times, then it stopped working again now at 1620 miles. Gonna take it into the dealer again on Monday to get it checked out

I agree on the start/stop system, however I will say because 2017 & newer vehicles are RFID computer controlled systems will & can fluctuate, suggestion let it go for a day or so & it should reboot, because of the communications issue sometimes, if the error does not reboot in a day or so then there is more possibility of a real issue vs a RFID communication issue,,, good stuff Nice ride! P.S you may also try taking it in to get a update, sometimes that will help, tc

I have a 2019 Cherokee and the stupid stop start has completely stopped working. Did you ever find a fix?
I traded my first for a second! No issues now except the annoyance of turning it off every time I restart😡
Bought my Gladiator overland a week ago. It was on the show room floor and I noticed they had to use a jump pack to start it. I wasn't to concerned thinking something was left on and it drained the battery. Ended up buying it that day and by the time I got home the auto start/stop light was on. Called my salesman and he said that there was nothing to worry about that service forgot to do something to it when it came in to enable it which I thought was odd but took his word for it. The dealership has it now and hopefully will get some good news tomorrow.
I bet it’ll have a new auxiliary battery when you get it back🤔
@@robmotiveplus they just called and said they replaced the auxiliary battery but the system isnt charging it fast enough. They are going to keep it until they figure it out. Ill put the miles on the loaner until then.

Hey guys I have faced the same problem with my jeep wrangler 2019 recently, I went to the jeep agency because my jeep still under warranty. Anyway they told me that the second batter was the issue 🙄 and they have to replace it.

I had same problem in 2020 Jeep wrangler. Took it to the dealership with the light off and they couldn't figure it out. It happened again and I left it on and went straight to dealership. Jeep knows the issue and created an update to the system. They took it back and did the update which it has something to do with the idle when it starts in a cold start. Fixed the problem and doesn't come on no more.

Having the exact same dilemma. I've had my 2020 since November of 2019 and it just started happening about six months ago and this happened about 20 times. It's an idiotic system to begin with and if it doesn't work I'll be pretty happy but if it screws something else that would suck. I've got 43,000 miles on and I towed a 6,000 pound trailer all around the United States during that time, and this is virtually the only problem I've had.

Just bought one of those stop/start "feature" eliminators for my 2021 Gladiator. I absolutely HATE these things! For the one minute you might spend waiting at a stop light/sign, how much fuel do they think it will save versus the wear and tear on the starter?! And if you live in a hot climate I don't care to have the AC reduced! It's ridiculous, like the "automatic" seatbelt devices that were in some cars in the early 80's to force people to wear seatbelts!

Had the same issue except my light stayed on. 2020 Wrangler JL, 4,200 miles. I also had a check engine light come on. For the stop/start issue one full day at the dealership where they replaced both the main, and auxiliary batteries. No more light. For the check engine light they replaced the purge valve in the fuel system. I was able to make that one go off by topping off the tank with premium fuel, and making sure the gas cap was 4 clicks tight. PIA Jeep, this should not be happening to new vehicles....hope this helps.

Mine had the same problem where the light would come on but the system would still work, then one day it stopped working. It would work on my first stop of the drive and just shut off after that. They have replaced my battery twice trying to fix the issue and nothing, so I’m about to take it to the dealer this coming week. I’m going to make sure I mention this is the 3rd time they try to fix it.

It’s probably cause battery is getting down it won’t stop start without a decent battery or if u play music while cleaning your car it waits till the battery is fully charged that’s how it works
Man mine came on before even leaving the lot after buying a new Rubicon. Hasn’t went off since. I’m waiting on the dealership to get something in then taking it in to get spray, key fob programmed, and get that light looked at. I only got one key because the dealership lost the other. I do absolutely love the truck and hope this little stuff is addressed and I can move on. My last 5 years in the 2015 unlimited X and I was hoping to have same experience with the Gladiator.

Took mine into the dealership yesterday - picked it back up today - they said that they pulled both batteries and they checked good. They did put them on the charger and made sure they were fully charged - all is well and works now - we’ll see how it goes. Now my light always came on sense leaving the dealership the day I bought it. I’m hoping it was truly the battery 🤞. It was on show room floor awhile I was told and good chance batteries were drained

I’ve been having the same problem took it to the dealership and all they did was reset the light and swap both batteries the three times I’ve took it there two of the time left me walking i have them in a lemon law case as we speaking the Jeep is been sitting at the dealership for over a month with a different problem with a noise that makes when you maneuver the Jeep they can’t seem to find the problem

I am having the same problem. Dashboard error light came on. System was not working. Took it to dealer. they could not find the problem, but the error light went out nd the system worked for a couple days, then stopped working, but this time, no dashboard error light. Took it back to dealer. They could not find the problem. Where is this auxiliary battery located?
Basically below the main battery.
I’m having the exact same issue. The first time I took the Jeep in it had happened about 7 times. They advised that Jeep is working on a cure and that I should keep track of how often it happens. Today though I got the auto stop start light and a check engine light instantly. Turns out it was a misfire along with ASS (auto stop start) acting up. The truck made a weird shudder as it started this morning. I have an appointment next week.
Sounds similar to what I am experiencing. Due to the hurricane we just had here, I am still waiting to hear back from service to schedule an appointment!
There is a lot of info on the misfire situation on the jeep gladiator forum. I suggest you do some homework before you go in to the dealer. Might save you some back and forth with them. Sorry your dealing with it. Haven't had it on mine but only at 1400 miles on mine.

Just had this happen to me in my new 87 mile gladiator overland 2022. It happened because the start stop kicked in just as the car was rolling over the sidewalk I was on as I was leaving a parking lot so it rolled over a little bit when it was stopped. I got the “A!” light at that moment and for the rest of the ride but when I turned the Jeep on again next time it was gone. I even was able to use auto start stop normally in this ride. Hope a restart does it for you guys!

My jeep is a 2020 with 22K miles.
Yes I had it come on after I left the vehicle in drive over night. I jumped the vehicle & charged the main battery. Then I disconnected the aux battery and the main battery & held the neg cable & positive cable for 10 seconds together as instructed by the dealer. The light on the dash us off. But the stop system is off. I want it on.

I have the 6 speed manual trans and as long as your foot is touching the clutch it never does the auto stop. So glad I got manual transmission as this seems to be an issue with automatics for sure.

Not true, I have a 2021 Rubicon with manual and I have the exact same problem....driving me crazy.
If the light is not on still have dtc stored and jeep should know watt is bad with the vehicle. And is probably the support battery when is low the light show at the dash.
Yes I just had mine come on. Not only that but now my remote start will start jeep for 5 sec then shut off. And won't start jeep again till I manually start the jeep. First problems I am having with jeep.

Seems like the second battery is the cause of many of these problems with the auto stop system, personally I'd be happy if it quit working. Here's my thoughts about the system, it saves little to nothing on gas for most owners, quicker starter replacement ($$$$) and one thing most owners don't think about is flywheel replacement.......teeth start wearing out on the flywheel. One other thing....I'm getting a message that says the Start/stop feature is not available while the cabin is cooling down. This happens when I select the "auto" temp button on the dash....we've had heat indexes well over 100 lately and she sits out on my driveway.....again, I'll see what the techs say and report back in a few...
That’s normal. The Jeep has to run to power the A/C demand. Otherwise your battery would be depleted.

I have 2021 JL and mine works only when the Air is off , we figured this out by messing around with the climate control, so the system disables when you turn the air on cold or hot
Not necessarily...depends on the state of the battery and draw on it. It won’t function if the battery can’t handle it. 👍

My start stop function says it’s not ready for the past three weeks, I had the lights illuminate for over a month It never shut off,
finally I took it into the dealer, They replaced both batteries, my auxiliary battery, and the main battery, after driving it for a couple of weeks I don’t have the same popping up light anymore, but the vehicle start says under the menu option, stop system not ready. I have no idea what that means and it’s not working.

It has happened to me 2 or three times....each time, it went away after I shut off and re-started the engine. Now I have the check engine light on. I have an appointment in 1 hour to have them look at in addition to performing routine maintenance with 18% oil life....her first service with almost 8K miles on her...just shy of the recommended 10K service..
If CEL code is P0300, sad to say they will need to do some major repairs to engine.

Good news. Got the Gladiator back...no charge for oil/filter/tire rotation...And as for the check engine light..TSB determined reflash will repair the misfire condition...done and all under warranty. Good for now!

Turned out to be the Aux battery. That gets drained as a result of that system.

I had my JT 6 months ago, and The auto stop warning just appeared on the dashboard, I ignored it and when I drove for 1 minute the steering wheel became heavy and check engine light turned on, I heard some noise from the engine bay and every light started blinking

@@robmotiveplus the fuse box is the problem there's a 6 nuts in row and a fuse Z panel needs to be replaced
I just bought mine and as i drove it off the dealership lot that failure light came on and has stayed on. 2020 Gladiator Rubicon 10 miles on it. Have it schedule to be taken into dealership for repair, one of the techs said its the battery for the start stop system but they have to run a diagnostic test on the system.
I’ve heard of many supposed fixes! Hopefully that’s your fix🤔
I will post here if it does and what was done to the jeep to fix it.

Sorry about not posting but it turned out to be the second battery was dead, took it back to the dealer and they replaced it and all has been working great, just a note, i would not try to replace that second battery as its buried underneath the fusebox and you have to disassemble it to get to that battery.
Rob, I follow your channel and had the same issue ( also have the Auto start Locking ) and found the aux battery is not holding a charge, when it discharges over time it will cause the fault light to come on after you drive a while the aux battery charges and all is well for a few hours. I found that removing the aux battery and connecting the aux terminals to the main battery eliminates the problem. If you are going to use the auto start system you might want to get a bigger battery, or replace the aux battery. So far I have no error codes and issues.
The best thing to do is disconnect the auxiliary battery removed the cable and the fuxe #f42 .

On my 3rd time having to jump start my Jeep because the secondary battery that runs the start/stop is killing my main battery. I'll be under the hood bypassing and removing that stupid and pointless battery as soon as it warms up a little. Dealership won't do it.

They may not be able to duplicate the problem but the code is stored which might be all they need. Considering it's under warranty and you have 3 other cars to drive I'd take it in for sure.

Mine crapped and it was only because the little pos battery died. I replaced the battery and its back up. I go through a list like you would with a plane. So I always push the I don't want this pos system working. I've heard that there are two plunger type switches under the hood one gives you the hood is open light the other is suppose to stop that start stop system from working if its unplugged. Haven't tried it myself but I'm going to.
Its the small aux battery. I put a charger on my battery for a afternoon and havent seen the service light in over a year.

But it will register in the system. So they will hook it up and find out that you have been having the problem. I don't have one of those moduals , but have never had this problem

2020 Wrangler had the Auto stop start warning light come on yesterday. This morning it will not start. Even the brake pedal feels locked in place. Cannot get it into neutral to even push it out if the garage for a tow to the dealer. Ugh!!!
Does it crank or is the battery dead?
@@robmotiveplus Did not crank but lights worked well. Just bought an aux battery from Napa and swapped it out. She started right up!

The reason I mention the flywheel is because I had one replaced with only 22K miles on my daily driver, granted it wasn't a Jeep but it's something think about.
I Just had a Start / Stop system problem. When i come to a stop light my engine shuts off, but when I take my foot off the brake it does not restart I have to put the trans in Park for it to restart. Called dealer, he said that's normal. I don't think so.....going to bring it in tomorrow to show them what's going on. Hi, put a adaptor plug in the towing plug connect it will act like your towing and disable it

If the Start / Stop battery is draining the main battery is there a way to disable it without changing the S/S battery?
I’ve never heard of the aux battery draining the main battery 🤔

Or does it mean the auxiliary battery is charging and the main battery is fine? In which case if she doesn't use the auxiliary switches or the auto start / stop it doesn't matter?

I’d have dealer replace the auxiliary battery.
Contact Nation traffic safety bureau..recall is certainly warranted,or just wait untill someone has a terrible accident??

First vehicle with this feature. I hated it. Seems like manufacturers just want to replace starters in vehicles. Can't save enough on mpg to warrant the wear and tear.

Hopefully it's NOT like my friends Jeep Latitude. While driving on the highway, his Jeep lost power and he had to pull off, onto the shoulder. The 1st time he freaked out cuz, he didn't know what was going on. The next time it happened, he was aware of the issue since he googled it and it was a recall issue (I believe). When he took it in the dealer they told him they couldn't just fix the problem, they had to see the problem first before they could start any repairs. So what did they do??? They put 500 miles on his car before they fixed it. At least my friend is happy, he hasn't had any problems since.
The 500 miles is a drag...but at least they fixed it 👍

Jeeps with auto stop have a second, auxiliary battery.

Mine has 1500km odo it intermitently pop up i change the hood switch but its same code that pop up p52e

I am presently experiencing issues with my start /stop system in addition other problem that have left my jeep completely dead . First incident I started it up and everything went whacky .. windshield wipers flashing/ flickering dashboard followed bye trying to restart It after making. Phonecall to dealer and finding it completely dead ! Had to have a flatbed get it to dealership. They replaced BOTH batteries which they claim were completely dead . Short time after picking it up I notice the yellow light indicating the start/stop was off continually stayed lit . Called dealership they said something isn't right bring it in .. they had it for 8 hours said it was the Start /stop switch sticking and ordered the part . I stop at store after picking it up from service and my fob wouldn't work . Thought o maybe it needs a battery. NOPE ! GET IN TRY TO START IT ....... NOTHING!!!!! SO now it's sitting in lowes parking lot !!! Needless to say I'm friggin not a happy camper right now .

@@robmotiveplus welp got my jeep back said it was a loose wire once adjusted it started right up . Well I called today because my start stop when starting my jeep light is on and switch is deactivated
It is probably a known issue. I haven't had that problem but I would call the dealership.

@@robmotiveplus wouldn’t restart at a busy red light, took to dealer, they replaced aux battery, now auto start completely unavailable. Gonna take it back. Looks like software issue to me but the aux battery was just a bad idea.
1k miles into my new 21 jeep wrangler and im having this stupid light turn on permanently... first i heard a grounding sound in the speakers an then the light turned on when i went to stop at a light. i checked my grounds an everything is good. it may be a lose wire in the auto start/stop. at least thats what i gathered from reading forums. so many ports for that stupid system.
The system is horrible! I hear nothing but problems concerning it😐
@@robmotiveplus do you know if i install something like the tazer, will it remove that service warning light? i would hate to spend the money on something that disables the feature to find out the service light will still be on.
@@r1menace765 I have the tazer and it does not help. It can clear the code but within 5 min it's back. I just unmarried mine from the Tazer and I still get the light. When mine comes on my gear I am in on the screen goes away and my backup camera will not come on in reverse.
Cheap fix...electrical tape. Stick it right over that light! Lol
