And since the original Rhinestone was pretty much a “laughingstock” - albeit one in which you were laughing with them - I don’t see how a sequel could do much worse. One possible accommodation to attract a younger demographic could be to have a plot in which Dolly and Sly are training a younger singer or singers, who could.be played by today’s music or acting superstars. Sort of a Creed 2 meets Rhinestone! What do people think of that?

And Sly may see this as one of his bombs, like Rocky V, that needs to be fixed with another movie in the franchise. The failure of Rocky V was what prompted him to make Rocky Balboa!
I think this performance showcases Sly Stallone excellent sense of humor better than any other movie besides the movie Oscar where he plays his role so solemn because he does not get to cut up and play funny

When I was a kid and my friends and I went to this movie not knowing what to expect we were so upset because it was a couple years after Rocky III and we thought hey Rocky is in a new movie and this thing was like watching a horror show for our 10 year old selves. I haven't seen this since then and watching this brings back those memories 😆 funny thing is after the movie we didn't really say anything about the movie on the ride home we just kind of day there thinking had that's over 😆 then we got home and got the football out and played some two hand touch out in the street to forget about the movie. But a year later Stallone redeemed himself to us neighborhood kids with the great Rocky IV 👊
