A lot of people give me hell for liking this movie, but I think it is good, cheesy fun and it also shows that Stallone is/was willing to take risks. At the height of his Rocky and action film era, he was willing to do a country-themed comedy which required him to sing. That takes some guts (or maybe he was contractually obligated, but I have never heard him regret doing this)
Love this movie as a kid growing up...its all in the fun laughing moments that brings a smile to your face as we as the heart love the music to yes he can't sing but the man some acting criedt

Sly never claimed to be a singer in any of the genres. It was just a good, humorous movie/fun in which Sly did an awesome job on all the songs he sang!! I mean, what do you want? His voice has a little rough edge to it but he can carry a tune. Moral of the movie was....it wasn't supposed to be a professional nor a great singer. Just someone she could turn into a singer for the night to win a bet. I think Sly was just great and I'm not alone!!!
