Judy unconsciously favors Ross over Monica because of his lovable nature over Monica's silly behavior. She is usually critical of Monica and can make fun of her for some things, like the fact she can't get married. However, she did criticize Ross after learning of his bad behavior in college and his third failed marriage. - Zábava
That explains Monica's obsessive behaviour over every little detail
I figured that as well Lol
Yup exactly. Monica had a unhappy and miserable childhood as she was always in the shadow of Ross due to her father praising him and her mother was always crtical and judgmental of her. Monica never felt appreciated, desirable, and loved by her parents which made her full of determination to get their approval but never comes with success. I never understand why she never stood up to them such as telling them how she feels by their treatment which affect her emotionally and mentally as it lead to self-esteem issues that made her feel worthless and empty. 🥺😭😞 Monica is a beautiful, intelligent, and independent woman that deserves recognition and creditability. Any mother and father would be proud to have Monica as a daughter. 😍😎💯👍

@@dejaalston8672 She finally did tell Jack, which resulted in her getting the Porsche (though she deserved more than that). On top of that, I think he really cared, but couldn't stop marveling at Ross and his life.
At 5:00, Monica and her mother had a great conversation, which eventually revealed that Judy's mother was just like her (extremely critical and overbearing). Not much of anything changed, but Monica likely knew that Judy wasn't going to ever change. Judy seems like someone who would just become extremely defensive, if Monica did really call her out, so their moment at Nana's funeral was probably the closest they'd ever get.
It's interesting - Roger (Phoebe's therapist boyfriend) was hated by the group (understandably so, since he was snide and immediately prying into their personal lives), but he would've been good help for Monica, since he was pretty accurate in his analysis of her more serious issues.
fluffing the pillows
Monica's insecurities were all fed by Judy's toxic treatment of her.
5:24 It sounds like Nana treated Judy the same way Judy treats Monica.
A vicious cycle since apparently Judy's mom was very toxic towards her as well.
And her Father's allowance of it.
That's not adorable. Her mother is horrible to her
I think the person editing this video was being sarcastic
I never understand why Monica never stood up to her mother instead of trying to gained her approval. Everytime when her mother says a snarky or sarcastic comment towards her it makes my skin crawl as it affects Monica self-esteem emotionally and mentally as her comments are very cruel and heartless with the intention of degrading and humiliating her. 🥺😭😞 Monica is a beautiful, intelligent, and independent woman that deserves recognition and creditability. @@dejaalston8672 I agree. I think some people are just nicer people than others, aka monica. shes so kind that she doesn't want to spark conflict with her mum even though she emotionally abused her throughout her whole life
@@dejaalston8672 she has mommy issues i’m the same way as well. when you’ve never had a relationship with your mom you’d do anything to try to get one
Soft spot... yeah, she is gorgeous.
Claire Dunphy and Monica are twins.
The last clip shows that her mom was conscious that she was doing it to her daughter. I wish Monica would’ve stood up to her
It’s more that she just realized what she was doing to her.
Monica deserved better!!!
That's why she got Chandler 🦋
It's so cute when Monica goes to his big brother when her mother does such things..
Just that my little brother also doesn't support me
I get the feeling like the writers of this show had issues with their mothers growing up.
Monica, Chandler, Phoebe, and Rachel had problematic mothers.
The writers are all like "Define me! Define me! Love me! I need love!"
Idk Rachel's mom seems kinda normal
That's how American children always behave.
@@ratamahatta5306 She is normal in comparison, but Rachel still had her issues with her. The mom wanted to compensate for marrying her dad and trying to live the single life post divorce.
And issues with their fathers for sure😳 all their dads sucked in one way or the other. The best one was probably Jack but even he just stood by and watched Judy treat Monica like crap.
I actually have a theorie for the mother. She used to keep monica fat on purpose because she could stand having a young pretty daughter and after monica grew up and lost weight, she needs to put her down to make herself feel better
Imo your theory is just right. I just want to add up that in some episode Jack Geller yelled „Well, you made it, Judy, she (Monica) is finally full!“. I too believe mother wasn’t having a talk with Monica about eating more healthy or going on a diet on purpose so later she could complain to her husband „omg, JacKiE, I dOn‘t knOw whaT to do wiTh hEr, sHe‘s neEveR fuLl“ or smth like that. Judging from the husband’s tone, she might have been complaining on daily basis. Some people’s life are so shallow they find purpose in instigating things so they could later complain about the outcome. Also yeah, some women like Judy here for some sick reasons start to get jealous of their daughter’s youth and beauty and thus try to compete with or belittle them in every way possible.
It’s astonishing how much self-control Monica has to not to throw the meal she cooked into her parents faces for that trash talk in the first scene of the video.
I can tell you from someone who had to be perfect at home that I was a fat child and as an adult it was my choice my parents in there own way tried to help.
Sounds about right.
Totally right .. So sad , but true
I hated her mom she emotionally abuses Monica constantly. And her voice irritated me. Now her father was wonderful he was oblivious sometimes but still charming.
her father was disgusting and trying so hard to be funny

Probably because mothers like this are soo oblivious that they will just end up playing victim and feeling attacked at any sort of criticism. I went through it with mine it sucks. you just kinda give in.
I didn’t understand either until I met my MIL
@dega Alston The reason why is beacause she always made her insecure like when brings up when she was chubby she need her aproval and she never let it go because even tho she may look beuatiful now she still feel insecure thats why she cant let it go its like a habit to her
Because she’s her mom you clearly don’t have a mother like this you seek her approval bc she’s your mom
I agree, this isn’t funny.
after the last clip in this video, i’ve realized that judy is mirroring her mother’s actions with her daughter, she passed through the same thing yet she still did the same to monica
She's horrible. She never wanted to break the cycle. Just like my mother. Her mother was like that too.
1:33 She took a moment to think how can I blame this on Monica?
"And You knew about this" 😂😂😂
🐐
Judy is like an asian mom living in America, always protecting her son and finding ways to put it on the daughter.
@@Veda98480so sad
Judy is a diluted version of my mom. I admire Monica for breaking free from her mom's influence.
Moment of prayer for all poor diabled souls who love & care for toxic mothers. 🙏
Omg judy seems like a rose compared to my mom..
I've never hated anyone more than I hate Judy.
How about Carol and Susan?
@@user-uu8sb3bu1k Judy is way more insufferable considering how it affected Monica a lot her becoming so obsessive trying to be perfect all because of such horrible treatment.
@@Jahnavi4464 Carol and Susan are the reason why Ross had trust issues. They even tried to take away Ross rights on Ben. They both are selfish and insensitive. My point is, they are as horrible.
Rachel's sister played by Christina Applegate was up there though.
Ursula up in the list too
I think somewhat Judy is envious of her own daughter. Judy has achieve nothing in life but Monica clearly did: Monica has success, love, beauty... All by herself. The good part in this is that Monica lives far away from her mother, her own life. She has no need to endure her behaviour but a few times a year.
Also, Judy had a horrible mother too, she needs Monica to throw all that hate, that's unfair, stupid... But maybe there is a reason.
Monica is just too nice. I would not have nerves with such a "mother".
"She said what?!"
"THAT SHE'S LIKE THE DAUGHTER SHE NEVER HAD!" 👂

Phoebe was malicious in that scene.
The thing i alwyas loved is hiw much ross supported her and how he never misused his privilege of beingthe fav against her. Cause reality shows something very different wich makes it always worse for the “monica” of the family
So true the favourite sibling gangs up with the parents, and your isolated!
I’m glad Monica stood up for herself about those frozen lasagnes. That’s just so uncalled for!
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again I get it’s a comedy show but they skip over the fact that her mother treats her like trash, and internalized misogyny, and is emotional abusive
They dont skip over it. It's addressed several times in this compilation alone. It's just never resolved. Because sometimes these things don't get resolved.
True, the writers just show relationships and family matters like we all have in real life. There are many Monica's in the world...
@@oliviastratton2169 but they laugh abt it

courtney cox in black - just lovely

Honestly, you love to hate Monica's mom, but in a weird twisted way, she's kinda hysterical 😂
Yes hysterical to see in a show , until she becomes anyone's mum in real life 😆
You know she loves Monica unconditionally. It’s just the fuel that sometimes happens between mother and daughter.
@@ABC4475that's years worth of emotional abuse and neglect, that clearly had a deeply negative impact on Monica.
I have a mom, and I trust that she'll never do this to me as we both know it's horribly toxic.
😊
That is so not the case@@ABC4475
This show helped me go through a lot of tough times, and taught me that life is never perfect and it is completely noRmal. Monica's relation with her mother helped me relate and face tge issues I have with my mother, and helped me move on.❤
Just horrible on how you treat your own child like that, she is so precious daughter.
what part of this is adorable
Watching this makes me want to cry so bad. I understand exactly what she goes through, how it makes her feel, and the effects or her mother’s actions.
Monica’s mother was just terrible to say that to Rachel. She should’ve been proud of Monica.
5:33 I am living the life of Monica 😞never get appreciated also scolded and yelled at small mistakes. She never trusts me. 😖🤧😨
I feel the same hun
You’re not the only one
Same here. 🥺
Alot of our mothers destroyed our lives
I feel you girl. Despite trying my extreme best, my parents will always yell at me for my anxiety and insecurities
1:33 You can’t convince me she wasn’t grasping at straws to find a way to blame Monica for this
Phoebe loudly repeating Monica’s mother’s cruel words that literally deny her existence, when Monica obviously heard, was a downright heinous thing that a real friend would never do.
The fact that Rachel said that in the first place, is what was truly heinous
@@tarzzamz2067 well they’re both heinous for bringing it up and then repeating it, drilling it even further into poor Monica’s head.
Plus her parents spent her weddings money plus they turned her room into a gym plus they used all her stuff to protect the car from the flood.
Not adorable at all. Judy is a toxic Mother. She doesn't love Monica. Their relationship should've been addressed on the show. I feel Courteney Cox would have won an Emmy if that was written into the script. Monica should have stood up to her. Even when Monica got married, Judy didn't hold her daughter's hand walking down the aisle. I really hate their dynamic. It's unfair.
Yes , but monica is not good with confrontation
@-Viva-Cristo-Rey Her Mother's abuse is the reason why.
Agree. Judy is awful. Never liked her character.
Monica deserves better parents, but Ross is a good and supportive brother
Ross is supportive
I'm glad Ross was a supportive brother to Monica. She really needed someone on her side considering awful her parents were to her.
after watching this video, it explains Monica's behavior and how she's so obsessed with being perfect
In The Alumini website episode,
Ross [on phone with his mother]: Actually, no, even if I had died, you would not be left childless
.
.
Monica?...!
I understand Monica I put a stop to my mother I told her that I couldn't continue criticizing even the smallest detail of my life and to stop comparing myself to others I stopped talking to her but at least my mental health has improved I hope she understands the damage that caused me and others
Judy: a classical narc mom!
Monica and her mother's relationship explained at 5:24.
Adorable? That’s one way to put it.
Getting slapped in the face figuratively. SO ADORABLE 😍
I wish I atleast had a brother like Ross 🥺
"is something different with your hair? "
"no, nothing is different with my hair"
"yeah maybe that's it" 😂😂😂
I would have laughed if my mother had said that to me
Monica and Ross's mom is every boomer mom ever. My mom might not be as critical as their mom but she does lay into me about how I'm dressed, when I gained weight, why my husband and I weren't married yet... the usual 😂
My mom was never like this....wow....i was sooo blessed....miss you mom❤❤❤
This is why I relate to Monica the most. I did had a strained relationship with my mom. Obsessing over every little detail. That’s pretty much what my mon has always done.
Soo adorable😊
Funny but it’s actually tragic and sad
0:12 phoebe, we didn't need your clarification Lol😅
I never liked the way they treated Monica. It’s like Judy doesn’t see how beautiful, organized and responsible Monica is.
6:22 That brief, BRIEF moment of self awareness.
Judy pissed me off
Idk why this was comedy... toxic parents hahahahah hilarious
The golden child (Ross) and the scapegoat Monica (this scenes are one of the reasons why Friends was great)
If this was now, Judy would have been labelled as a "toxic mom" for sure .. she had all the traits
Phoebe saying “I don’t get it” did me in 😂😂😂😂
adorable is a strong word
The scene where she admires Monicas earrings and Monica says that they were hers and she reveals that they were actually her mothers. I think that that was so sweet
I thought my mom is hard on me...🤷🤷nope...not a little bit compared to this shit...that explains Monica's OCD
That explains Monica's everything!
Remember the episode when she made candies for the neighbors so they'd like her? She was working tirelessly to keep up with everyone's demand. If Chandler wasn't stepping in and put a stop to it she would've worked herself to a breakdown.
That's why she hooked up with Chandler in Ross's wedding, she needed that affirmation that she was desirable and can be loved
My mom is the same way lol
Mama knew 😊
Why mothers are like this? My goodness.
Adorable ?!??!!? It's straight up toxic... The person who wrote the title, are you okay ??
It’s a joke, ever heard of sarcasm?
poor her
A diluted version of this is me. When she says if I could choose my parents can I have yours-to Ross breaks my heart. It hits so close to home.
How she messes up when she's working around her mother is her internal system reacting to the pattern set, what she was made to believe since childhood.
Though I have an elder golden child brother, I never got a Ross.
This reminds me of how the mother of one of my former classmates is. My mom told me that she called her own daughter r3tarded when we were in 5th grade. Also, after high school, she made my classmate get plastic surgery.
She treat Monica like step daughter 😅😅
This is horrible
I just found out that Monica’s mom, Christina Pickles, is the sister of Vivian Pickles, who played Harold’s mom in “Harold and Maude”.
I can relate my mom never loved me either..😢
You should've left the title at Monica and mother adorable relationship
4:33 😂😂😂😂 PHOEBE ❤

Great way to close the video 😊
Some mothers consider their young and beautiful daughters as their rivals. They envy their youth and talent and their potential to become a woman they never had the chance to be.
Forgive people that judged you . Keep close the people that understand in there way.
I hate Judy more than Emily
Emily doesn't deserve hate
Notice how Jack never says anything
Judy was damaged! but Christina Pickles is brilliant.
The first clip: Ouch
I never felt Judy and Monica had a warm relationship.
I've read a comment before where the person said something along the line of they wish Monica would confront her monther and have a face off like Chandler. I just realized that it didn't happen happen because in the last scene where Monica and judy talk she ask if judy would confront her mother and judy said no. I guess thays whg Monica didn't either😌
Judy was the reason Monica was so neurotic and a perfectionist.
Poor Monica
Honestly, watching all of this scenes pulled a trigger on me. My mom is kinda like this, she is not THAT extreme or sassy with her comments, but surely she is one of the main reasons I have anxiety over everything as an adult. The sad thing is, she is still like this.
I just came to feel better, mine is not as bad as Monika's
In what universe their relationship was adorable? Wtf
Monica's mother is toxic. Hat's off to the writers, somewhere there is a writer's mother who watched this and cringed, hopefully.
1:00 I AGREE WITH HER MOTHER OMG LOOK AT THIS SO CALL "SPAGHETTI" NO SAUCE NO MEAT NO CHEESE NO NOTHING JUST THE PASTA LOL LOL OMG HORRIBLY EASY AND CHEAP...LOL
You are misinterpreting adorable with "horrible"
Ive never seen anything adorable about their relationship. Her mom was the worst.
I hate so much that woman!
Text book/satirical version of a narcisitic mother.... Judy is identical to my mother in every way
