I love bilt hamber auto foam I'm shocked how expensive it is over the pond , for 5L it only cost ÂŁ17 ($23) here in uk , we now also have bilt hamber touchless snowfoam which is ÂŁ20 ($27) for 5L which is slighty stronger then the already amazing autofoam which is now my go to snowfoam and for my nilfisk 140 psi bar pressure washer that uses 500 litres per hour and I use 2% pir (panel impact ratio) 100ml product and 400ml water and this strength removes 90%
Also another method that people are now doing is using about 16ml product in a normal spray bottle mixed with 784ml water (total 800ml) and it still removes similar amount which is great for using less product compared to snowfoaming , its works out for me about 5p (7cents) per wash compared to snowfoaming which works out 34p (47 cents) per wash
I hardly ever do a contact wash maybe once every 3-4 months đ
Clean Garage just became the US distributor for Bilt Hamber and they have the 5L Auto-Foam for regular price of $39.99.
Cool. Thanks
Yea my order just came in from Clean Garage and it works great!
With shipping , it comes to $49..about $20 less than Amazon. Informative review, thank you.
Getting taxed a bit over the pond, itâs still good at that price. Surfex HD by bilt hamber is an awesome all round cleaner, probably their best product.
I just bought a 5L jug for black Friday at $35. I've also seen many have similar results when simply adding the product to a spray bottle. This cuts the amount of product needed for the same PIR. You will only need 1.5oz to make 33oz of spray. And that's at the max recommended PIR. You can go down to 0.5oz if you wanted
The problem is youâre paying import duty as it is UK product. You can pick it up for around ÂŁ23 here in England. Although itâs a snow foam itâs not designed to create a thick white blanket. Therefore, I just use a 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 ratio. I know that creating a snow storm on your vehicle is an art form for some individuals but for me itâs simply about the products ability to thoroughly cleanse the bodywork. Solution: the UK and North America need a free trade agreement to bring down prices!
Very true! đđŒđđŒ
Have used Bilt Hamber for 2-3years and it's great. But we also have it cheaper in Europe. (Until UK left the Union)
Use it correctly and after the manufacturers recommendations and it is great.
I mix my Autofoam â with 2caps of Auto Glym polar blast just to boost the foam.
Remember to mix with COLD water.
when the car is protected it's enough for me to snowfoam and rinse, and a contact wash every 4th time ish.
In the Netherlands we pay nearly half your price. And in Brittain they pay even less. So it's more of a location issue. I payed 34 euros. That's now around 34 dollars.
Wow 1 to 1, i been using it at 10 to 1 and still does the job on my daily vehicles.
Oh good. Yeah I watched Jonâs from forensic detailâs calculation and it came out to 1:1. I obviously wonât do that again. But I continue to try it out. Iâm gonna use in the IK foamer next to see if it makes a difference
I use this as my pre wash and in the UK it's about 22 USD for 5ltr. If my car isn't really grimy I'll use it with a PIR of about 2%
Thank you Phil for your perspective and honesty
I have it and love it as well and use it more when a car is more on the dirty side. Biggest issue is for their PIR you need to use more than you would use with other foaming wash soaps.
I have the exact same thoughts. No need to worry about PIR. I Just use about 3-4oz and then add a touch of MegaFoam or Ultra Foam and Iâm good to go.
I'll stick with P&S Pearl and the pre rinse method. Hasn't failed me yet. Keep dropping that knowledge sir!!!!
Your conclusions about the soap made perfect sense to me. If a car had been ceramic coated you could theoretically do a contact free wash and blow dry.
I appreciate your editing about eating your words, funny đ
I also like seeing the updates on all the products on your car. Please keep them coming đâïž
Thanks so much! That animation for âeating my wordsâ took forever!!đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł but it was worth it!
I use that all the time. I also use their concentrated car wash. I appreciate your fair review.
Pricey yes but coming from a guy who used to use 7$ Purple power vehicle and boat wash soap religiously I found this soap to knock dirt and grime out of the park on the first try Especially on first time customer vehicles . AS a weekend warrior I purchased this product a couple months ago when it became available in the US. Been using it on my IK foam 12 and i instantly fell in love with it. I prefer to start with a strong base to make the rest of the process a breeze.
Sheeting is more important to daily drivers of non-garaged cars for one reason. Their cars sit outside accumulating moisture, dew, raindrops, all beading up and drying out from being baked on the surface. With a sheeter product, there would be fewer beads to dry up. That is the sole reason why sheeters are more effective for our customers.
Yeah I agree. Itâs nice to have a sheeting product that makes drying easier! Beads are just visually pleasing. But then again I can
any beading product sheet also. I can make either one work for me. đđđŒ
i always use bilt hamber auto foam coming from uk being a part time valeter and detailer ...its only ÂŁ18 over here 5 litres i dont use nothing else it go's to town on dirt and grime đȘ
Iâm U.K. based and we have BH a lot cheaper here, however I still donât use it as it works out far to expensive. If you guys ever get Koch active foam, get it, đŻ best foam/shampoo I have used. Can be used as a prewash or shampoo, perfect for mobile. Glad to see a bit of common sense from a CZcams detailer đ
Yep, Koch for me too.
It always amazes me how each of us can have different results using the same products, I'll blame it on the water, LOL. I tried Koch in December but decided BH was for me. I don't have to deal with road-salt as you guys do. I lived in Wiesbaden and Munchen for 10 years when I was in the USAF and remember how incredible the Germans were at keeping the autobahn clean, amazing. Now, I live in California and Arizona, so our issue is 6-10 months of sunshine without any measurable rainfall from March or April to Oct or Dec, which means the Hwy's don't get washed off by rainfall to remove the buildup of oil, dust, sand, dirt, rubber, and chemicals. Most of my folks are highway commuters, 2-4 hours a day and that's why I use BH.
@@nicksdragon6929 which Koch did you use? GSF? If so try a drop of GS in it if you need it stronger, as far as I know you guys donât have active foam yet.
I have used that mixture of GSF and GS in the foam cannon and itâs a nice soap to clean further. But I always begin with my own prewash method as shown, for me itâs still faster and more efficient.
@@paulhamilton6013 Thanks Paul, you're right, I used GSF, not with GS (APC) and I agree with your cocktail of the two. I use Bio-Clean where you use GS on dirty cars. Koch Chemie is very similar to P&S Pearl (an awesome slick soap that cleans well). All three are low sudsers which I like. Yet for me, BH cleans so well, I can skip the Contact wash on lightly soiled vehicles and on dirty cars, needing a contact wash, BH provides greater cleaning allowing me a less extensive contact wash. Price comparison, GSF/GS, 1 oz Snow, 1oz contact wash, 1 0z of GS, = $1.40/wash. Pearl 2 oz Snow, 2 oz contact, 1 oz Bio = .60 cents/wash, BH is $1.60/wash. $1.60 vs $1.40 vs. $.60, so as Phil says "Price is not really an issue, at $1 but time is expensive. In the end, I agree with Phil, it's a personal preference. The reality today is that there are so many great products and brands, that you can't go wrong. Paul, thank you again.
I use either 2% or 4% PIR depending on how dirty. With my pressure washer, that translates into 250 or 500 milliliters in a one liter bottle. BH Auto-Foam is the most effective pre-wash Iâve used.
Yeah I get that. But I never do the math on dilution ratios like that. I just dilute 10:1 in my gallon jugs for quick filling of the foam cannon or just add 2-4 oz in a 32 bottle. Easy to figure out. If I want more foam I just add more.
@@MirandaDetailing I use it always at around 10:1 and it performs really well for me. We have it 1,3 gallons for around 33 dollars / 5 liters for 28 euros in Europe so we are lucky.
Cool! Thatâs good to know! Thanks for sharing.
At walmart I bought corral car soap for $3.50 for 64 oz
Works great with lots of. Lubrication at 6 oz in 34 oz bottle
16oz. of soap? Hell no!
I use @SuperiorProducts 3 soaps below found at Oriellys. I use 2-4oz in my 32oz foam cannon.
Dirt Buster (Original Soap) C60-1 $10/gallon
Cherry Foam (Extreme Foam) C62-1 $10/gallon
Road Warrior (Boat/RV/Pre-soak/Roadfilm/Degreaser) C46-1 $10/gallon
Absolutely shocked by the price in the us, here in the U.K. itâs usually under ÂŁ20.
I mix around 500 ml BH product to 500ml water in 1 Litre bottle and turn the mixer adjuster all the way down , you get a good thick film and I can do my car twice ( Mini F56 model ) start from the bottom and work your way up on each side and their is no need to over use the product .
1:! for me as well. Had the same thoughts. Good product, but expensive to use! Compared it to 3D Super Citrus and I went with 3D in the end.
love your weekend wash series... like all the experimenting ... the foam wash was impressive.. I keep my cars really clean so if I can get away with a touchless wash I'm in...
AGREE! When did snowfoam become more important and a good pre-rinse?? I pre-rinse and then snowfoam and WASH using 6 different mitts. LOVE the idea of having these bottle prepared ahead of time, adding that to my to do - thanks!
đđđŒ yes exactly. Everyone has their own method that works for them đđđŒ
Look up forensic detailing. He just made a test about pre rinse Vs snowfoam and there is a good reason to use snowfoam and it should be used correctly.
Yep check out Jon at Forensic Detailing for his video on why pre rinsing your car or wheels is pointless. I do like the multiple wash mitt method though. I guess snow foam became so popular because it makes great pictures for the instagram generation but for me itâs results and effectiveness over pretty shotsâŠâŠ
Yeah I watched it. But after testing it myself, it doesnât make a difference to us at all. We are still just as fast and efficient with our methods. It hasnât changed the results for us. I totally get the idea behind it though. But in reality the variables make everyoneâs testing slightly different.

I'm with you on PIR
WHat a difference in that NEW paste wax! Definatley have to try it out! IM a wax kinda of guy! ALways enjoy putting my own protection on my vehicles! Great video! Makes me wanna buy more products!
Been using this for over a year now. Love how well it actually cleans while leaving any protection totally intact! I had to adjust how I used it...meaning I had been used to putting a good amount of foam on a vehicle (various products). With Auto Foam you just want to get enough on the vehicle to get the panels covered.. not layered foam so to speak ( less is more so to speak ). I only use about a 3rd on my 15 Jeep Cherokee when using an MTM cannon, and my Comet. I can usually squeeze about 3 washes per 1000 ml which increases its value for me.
Lastly - you can pair Auto Foam with their APC (surfex hd) and use even less Auto Foam in the foam cannon. Just play with the dilution. I hate saying this but Surfex HD is the best APC I've ever used and it ain't even close.
Thanks for the video!
Great video, nice color on the gloves and very informative thanks Phil...love clone Phil helping out
đ€ŁđđđŒ
Funny, Iâve come to the same conclusion. People keep telling me itâs the best. Iâve settled on a 1:1 dilution for it to be effective, and it is really effective, but at that dilution itâs also fairly costly.
Thanks! Yeah not sure why the raving over this method or productâŠbut if people have their likes than good for them. đđđŒ. But Iâll stick with what works for us. Thanks for sharing.
I think the 3d pre soak perform just as good if not better and you would only use half an ounce a foam cannon.
Hi Phil, I have been using Bolt Hamber since Jon introduced it to me but quite honestly you are one of the very first detailers to say to hell with PIR ...and itâs my thought exactly. Putting 500mls in a 1L bottle and doing a pre wash with it is expensive....not as expensive as you quoted on Amazon. (26⏠/5L here in Finland). As a mobile detailer, I use a TFR prewash on lower panels and then same method as you do. Works and is cheaper. Water consumption is a prime driver for me. I donât have time to be rinsing so many times. Thanks for this good video!
Hi. Thanks. Yeah I donât have time to calculate the math of a shampoo. It does absolutely nothing for me. Itâs really just over complicating things that should be kept very simple. I mean if people want to do all those calculations for their own benefit thatâs cool for them. But honestly it doesnât make any difference to me. đđđŒ
I purchased the Vonix last time and used it on three cars this week, I think I'm going to reorder but I'm going to wait until I see the Cadillac come back in April and talk to him. So, after watching this video again, it was good to see your updated review on it. Oh and I watched your other wash video. You rinsed the car 5 times and that is more water than I thought you would use. Still thinking about our upcoming water restrictions. Thanks for the suggestion.
Which video did you see me rinse 5 times? Was it the weekend wash?
@@MirandaDetailing It was "How we wash a car on our mobile detailing jobs" Jun 8, 2020. I will re-watch it and I am sorry for the misquote actually I meant to type 3 not 5. I meant " 3 " rinses, comprised of five steps; 1) rinse, 2) APC, 3) rinse, 4) Contact wash, 5) Rinse. Sorry and thanks for waking me UP! Detail, Details, and I am a detailer. ATTENTION to Details Nick! My profuse apologies.
Oh ok. This one czcams.com/video/rBHhe26eChM/video.html
I rinsed 5 times? đ€.
I remember once for the APC rinse, foamed, contact washed then rinse again. But then did wheels separately and rinsed them.
In all I used about 15 gallon of water if that. We have learned to converse water by the way we rinse also. đđđŒ
In europe we pay...around to 18euro/ aprox to 20 usd.....so it makes.more sence here to use it. Try Surfex HD some ytime you will love it.
All Bilt Hamber products we pay much less here for them in Europe.
Yes Surfex is awesome even use it on household appliances and diluted 20:1 for "detailing" customers dirty laptop and computer cases, some computers on farms have nasty fly vomit spots and it disintegrates that stuff nicely. (I mainly repair computers and cleaning cars is my therapeutic spare time.)
Glad we could send you home with some PA road salt as a souvenir! đđ Thanks again for great content!
Interesting shampoo Hope you had a good trip to see Gabe and his new shop from everything I seen online it is a very very nice shop
Hey man! Yeah we had a great time! We have some more developments coming soon!!
1:1 is crazy! I use the MTM foamer and the bottle is 32 oz, so that's about the same as a liter. I usually use most of a bottle on a vehicle so with the 5L jug, I could do 10 vehcles... About 6$ per vehicle! I just purchased a jug and have not used it yet. I will try to use it at 2:1 and see how it does. 3$ per vehicle is not terrible.
Yeah... Even at 3$ a vehicle, not my go to at all. Koch Chemie SFN super foam is way more cost effective and works better in my opinion.
Of course it all depends on what your approach is. I think the BH Auto Foam is a great investment in time saved. Also, remember that it might be 1:1 in your lance, but I can foam four cars with 1 litre of product. I suppose here in Europe it's also a lot cheaper.
To each their ownđ
True but unfortunately it just doesnât cut it for us in the US. To expensive and there are better more affordable options here. But I know our UK detailers love it because it works for them and itâs cheaper.
I was just wondering if you ever did try Bilt Hamber on a vehicle with heavy dirt and grime? If so how did it come out? I watch your videos all the time but donât recall ever seeing that video.
Hi. Honestly I donât think I did. I only had a 16oz bottle and used it up. Itâs good for people in the UK but itâs not economical here in the states. We have more affordable products that work exactly the same.
Awesome video and product review Phil.tad bitpricey 4 me.clean garage in PA is 20 bucks cheaper.looks awesome buddy
2% pir for a summer not so dirty car prewash. 4% pir for dirty cars. You canât beat this snow foam for cleaning power. I find that 300-500ml is enough to prewash an average car. Here in the uk đŹđ§ the price is ÂŁ17.99 so a bit cheaper here in the uk đŹđ§ than it is in the us it appears.
Thanks Phil đđ
Awesome content, great job
I love auto foam. best one for cleaning power
You forgot one thing.....the kill factor. If I dragged a $58 shampoo into the house, there maybe a chance that I might not survive it. I'd Ike to see the Bilt Hamber go to work on a "normal" daily driven car not one that's trashed. Trashed means nothing when testing. I keep coming back to watch your videos because I learn new stuff and I have fun watching. Say hi to the wife.
It's a shame you have to pay so much in the U.S in the U.K this product is only ÂŁ16 for 5 litres
Glad you (also) find the PIR over the top Phil. I like detailing my car but please. Dilution ratio OK but calculating PIR? No thanks. But if one is making a living of CZcams, one has got to make plenty of video's and needs content, even if it is maths...
Nice review BTW!
Thanks! Totally agree. Iâm still getting all these comments giving me suggestions on percentages đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł. Please...Iâve got work to do, bot time spent calculating percentages on soaps and prewashes. That only slows me down and my âproven for usâ pre wash methods. Thanks man đđ€Ł
Thanks Phil. If you lived in the UK.like John youâd only pay about $28 for the five liter bottle. You can also get it from the Clean Garage for a little cheaper. I think the dilution ratio might be a little high. I think you could probably cut it in half. Canât wait to see it on a really dirty vehicle!
Yeah I wish we could get it cheaper, I will dilute it to my usual 10:1 in my foam cannon and test it out on a grungy vehicle and see what happens. Thanks!
@@MirandaDetailing hi Phil did you try it at 1-10 ratio Iâm about to buy some bilt hamber but worried about it stripping the wax on my car thatâs all cheers from Australia
Hi. I did try it 1:10 but I didnât use it on a vehicle that had protection. I donât use soaps to strips waxes or sealants anyway. It supposed to be ph neutral so it should be fine.
@@MirandaDetailing BH Auto foam is Ph 13/14 thatâs my only worry but id say at 1-10 should be fine
Oh thatâs weird. I though it neutrally.
So I found this also
âIt is an alkaline product, however, it is a myth that only pH neutral chemicals are safe for cars. The crucial element is that Bilt Hamber Auto Foam is non-caustic, so it will not dull the surface of the paint, or strip wax at the correct concentration. â
Not found a bad bilt hamber product yet, shampoo, auto foam, double speed wax and especially the Auto Wheels. Surfex HD is so cheap and last forever, get them all in 5lt tubs and you're done. Much cheap in Europe though.
Yeah unfortunately here itâs way to expensive for us to make it worth it. At least for us.
I buy Bilt Hamber's 5L, $32 at Clean Garage during sales, .20 cents/oz, so, I buy 2 or 3, free shipping and it's wonderful. Using your 1:1 ratio in a 16oz bottle is 8 oz water and 8oz product; thatâs $1.60 a wash. I donât use BH for pre-washes on cars that aren't very dirty. If theyâre dirty enough to use an APC, then I use an alkaline shampoo, like BH or Obsessed Garageâs Decon at $1.60 per wash. Prewashes are 15-30 cents oz, or $1.20/ wash. I noticed your bottle had about at least three ounces left in it, so maybe it was only about 6-7 oz of product that was used.
I like your method of washing a car thatâs not very dirty with APC and a rinse, instead of a prewash, but I donât see how it saves any time. Xtremeâs Bio-Clean, 3:1 in a 16 oz sprayer, $1.32. It takes 5 minutes to do a Snow foam and I would guess it isnât any less to go all-around a car spraying APC and rinsing with the pressure washer. So, itâs like you said, itâs not really about money, itâs about what weâre used to doing and most people just donât like using a 1:1 ratio, mentally they see it as throwing money down the drain. But when you do the math, itâs not much different.
The same goes for Sheeting vs Beading. Brian at APEX now sells a "sheeter" product in concert with ArtDeShine and explains how the sheeting may look like it's not working because it doesn't bead in the way weâre used to seeing but that doesnât mean itâs not working. Yet we've taught ourselves to believe through our panel tests using beading products, that when they stop beading, itâs failed. But hydrophilic chemical reactive products are just as protective as hydrophobic and are much better for preventing water spots than beaders are.
I see what youâre saying. Iâve crunched all the numbers and have tried many different pre-wash and washing methods⊠And thatâs why weâve narrowed it down to the method we have now. It uses less water less chemical and itâs faster for us. However I think some people forget that thereâs two of us working. I think thatâs why it may work better for us. However even when Iâm by myself detailing sometimes I still do the same method and it still works out to be faster and more efficient. I still use less chemical all around also. But again this is our method and itâs what works for us, It allows us to work very fast and efficient. I also understand that someone elseâs âcrunching of numbersâ may be different than our âcrunching of numbersâ. That is why I also emphasize that people will develop their own methods and techniques that will make them faster and more efficient for their particular situation. Detailing does have its certain set of standards, but even those standards can be adjusted to suit the needs of any detailer. Thanks for sharing those numbers Iâm sure thatâll definitely help a lot of people.đđđŒ
@@MirandaDetailing I really love the idea of saving the water, since I live in California and are entering another drought. I have got to watch this again and get the process down. It is a reality. Are you still doing a contact wash after the APC or do you just dry it after the rinse? Thanks again for reading.
Oh yeah man. For mobile guys also itâs important to converse. Did you watch this video yet? czcams.com/video/rBHhe26eChM/video.html I Explain our process. But I think I will do a dedicated video on each step of our wash process.
@@MirandaDetailing PLEASE, please do it. Now that I am going to partner up with a mobile detailer and we are trying to figure a few things out, this really looks like an option.
Believe me you donât have to use as much as they to get the same result
Very cool video
Did you ever do a follow up video on a more heavily grimed car?
Hi. Check this out. czcams.com/video/So1U8zW2dC4/video.htmlsi=6FSQ_i7g1fR25AmB
Ok, it is super! But! What about the waxed surface, is damage it? đź That is not good
Hi. So pre washing with APCâs is only for a the initial detail. Iâm only demonstrating it on my own vehicle. Plus many modern âwaxâsâ are now actually sealants that can resist apc rinsing like this. Apc rinsing or strong pre washing is not for basic or regular washes. It should only be on an as needed basis.
I explain this in many video. But check these out.

In the uk itâs only ÂŁ20
Wow, I'm really impressed with the Turtle Wax 75th Anniversary Paste Wax. As you were flood drying it, the water just flowed right off. I can only imagine what the hood would look like with that paste wax! By the way, how often should we be waxing our cars when winter comes? Especially in the heavily salted DMV area?
Hi Thanks. Yeah its pretty awesome stuff so far. In heavily salted regions vehicels can take a beating, I would make sure to clean and protect every few months, maybe even monthly with a spray sealant/wax
@@MirandaDetailing so during the salty months, should wash about every week, do you think? And keep the paint protected while the salt rapes the clear coat?
Yeah thatâs a good idea.
Amazing! U could go to drying from a non- contact wash. Bilt hamber is outstanding!! Appreciate the detailed video phil. đ
Totally! But then again itâs on my own personal vehicle that has lots of good protection. So it could work nice as a maintenance shampoo.
Wow that's expensive you can get it for ÂŁ17.99 in the UK
Have you ever tried Sonax Actifoam Energy? It dilutes 1:10 forms a pretty good foam layer, is ph neutral and also can be used as a car shampoo. Its a favorite of mine but it might be quite expensive in the US though. Got it at a pretty good deal for 56 euros for 10 liter.
No I haven't yet. Thanks for sharing
I been using the Turtle...slight bubblegum sent, seems to work decent...but, Im almost out....
You use a lot less in a pump foamer or pump sprayer. It's very economical then because you can literally just use 4% and a regular sedan only needs 1 litre max in the foamer or sprayer so 40 ml of Auto Foam. At 4% you'd get 125 uses per 5L bottle and of course 250 uses if you're using 2% PIR in a pump container.
Yea thatâs true. I donât worry about the PIRâs at all. I now simply dilute my apc or âsnow foamâ product 1:4 and use our IK foamer for our APC Rinse (pre wash). I have found that when I focus to much on the numbers and percentages, I donât get the results I want. I keep things simple and everything works out betterâŠat least for me it does. đđđŒ
@@MirandaDetailing just portion it out by ounce and keep it simple . I'm an enthusiast and I'll just use 30 ml (one ounce) per litre and call it a day. The bottle will last me years.
Is it any good? Its the best mate, here in UK its ÂŁ17 which is about $25 its really powerful and works wonders.
Sure it does work. But itâs not for me since we have such a fast and effective way of pre-washing already. I used tried many different ways to not only speed up this process but use less water and save on buying chemical. For us it actually slows us down a little. But itâs ok. Each detailer develops their own method that works for them. đđđŒ.
Were you able to test the Bilt Hamber at a 10 to 1 ratio just to see what itâll do? Just curious. I also follow John at Forensic Detail and heâs an extremely smart man and like you said he loves all Bilt products.
Not yet. But I will. Yeah I love Jonâs videos. I definitely watch him to get deep into detailing and the science of it. But I also balance that within reason and apply it to my own method and business. Itâs not that I disagree with him, but I consider myself a simple person and need to keep things easy and manageable for myself. And hopefully that translates in the videos and helped others. đđđŒ
@@MirandaDetailing absolutely agree with you. Johnâs not a mobile, or I think they call them valet, detailer. The process and practices are always a little different for you mobile guys. My Caddy is always protected with Black Ice and I can use The Last Soap, from the the same company, diluted 8 to 1 in my snow former and it will clean the car also without a contact wash! Always enjoy your vids and perspectives!
Thatâs awesome! The Black Ice holding up nicely for you?
@@MirandaDetailing Iâm pleased with Black Ice for sure. Iâm at 10 months. The car is garage kept and has been washed 20 times with The Last Soap and I have used the detailer from The Last Coat, Amp, 10 times. Bottom line is the protection on the car looks like I just applied it. I want to try something different but this stuff isnât weakeningđ!
Wow! Amazing! Love it!
Interesting take on the BiltHammer. I've never used it and I've also never used a snowfoam 1:1.
I'm usually ~8:1 with CG Honeydew and I definitely have to contact wash even though I have a great ceramic sealant and top it off every month. I might try CG 1:1 this weekend and see what happens.
I used honey dew before and thats a contact shampoo for sure. Even at high concentration no way near the bilt and hamber as far as cleaning power.
the favourite foam that I use super good super cheap I use it at a 1% panel impact ratio and it works nicely I would say and you say it a lot but you don't use the whole canon or you are overusing it and its cheaper than others try it at lower pir and just lay one good coat don't overlay a lot that is wasting it if needed add light layer to make dwell time longer and as you can see its more cleaning than lubricant snow foam
Cool. Thanks. Yeah I wanted to test it at that dilution ration. Next I will use it at my normal dilution for soaps on a grungy vehicle and see how it does. đđđŒ
@@MirandaDetailing hey I like that idea want to see that love your videos good stuff and I got the 5 litres for 25 euros and in America is close to 40 $ for you that is more expensive but same with products that are from America in Europe that damn shipping
@@simasm.9757 does it strip the wax at 100mm auto foam to 900mm water cheers
@@adyg8221 â @Ady g well it's a strong snow foam (12ph when not diluted but very safe when properly diluted and is bio-safe) not on the foaming side but on cleaning, you should do a PIR measurement with your cannon (look up videos on yt) and then go by it. 5% PIR could do a bit of damage to a week wax but at 1-2%PIR it shouldn't do much, but clean (higher PIR, more cleaning)
@@simasm.9757 thanks mate Iâll give it a go Iâll grab some today cheers mate
Awesome brother!!
Actually it's very economical as you just coat once it's not about going back and forth so you hardly use any out of the lance for a car.. but most people use it in a pre spray with a foam or not like you APC rinse and at 4% that is 40ml in a litre, which is hugely economic.
Yeah I see how people use it in that way. I have crunched the numbers and tried all the different pre wash methods. Thatâs why we have narrowed it down to the method we now have. But people forget that there is two of us working. We can fly around the vehicle using less water and taking less time with our own method. Even when I wash the vehicle alone I still do our preferred APC rinse method and itâs fast and efficient. I guess we just have it nailed down so well that deviating from our own method means slowing us down. But again this is just our method thatâs what we are accustomed to and itâs what makes us so fast and efficient. It may not work for everyone but it does for us so thatâs why I stick with it. đđđŒ
@@MirandaDetailing yeah no worries I get why your method works for as a speed job for mobile but should try it in place of your APC rinse at 4-5% it is cheap and imo and experience cleans better than most APC against road film and so on. But I also wanted to point out from experience you over applied a fair bit in your video just for fairness to the product and how it works as it's different to most prewashes in that regards.. it doesn't take away from what works for you but just to be fair to the product and how home users who love your videos may use it. Love your content.
@@brianhunt914 understood. Yeah since I had never used it before I guess I did over apply. Iâll will try it again and see. Thanks man
hey Brian, when Bilt Hamber says 4%, they mean the PIR (panel impact ratio), which is very different than a 4% dilution. Why do they use PIR%...something almost no one's ever heard of? My guess is because most people would freak out if they knew how much product they had to use if they followed the directions lol. Phil did the correct math here...it comes out to about 16 oz of product in your snow lance. It's not very economical, but a lot of us will be tuning in closely to see the results he gets when he uses less product
@@derek723 hey Derek I'm aware I use this product alot.. what was advising is most people do not use it in a lance he we use a sprayer.. 1.25 litres will easily prespray a car so that's 50ml of product. Also the 4%is for heavy first you really don't need more than 1-2% pir most of the time . Also you don't use much of the bottle to coat the car it's not like a thick foam you go over again and again, so ones you've spray a panel move on so you might use 1/4of the cannon bottle to do a large car at most, anything else your over applying this product. It's very different than what alot of people are used I get that but the product is cost effective and the most powerful on the market easily.. check Jon's technical reviews on forensic detailing very detailed..
Great stuff - like your DIY 'drying with water' solution, you've turned that around quickly hopefully saves you some time blow drying :)
Phil the question would be what if you took several shampoos at a 1:1 ration then compared them at that high concentration I bet they would all clean better? I would like you to try it but not having to buy a 5 liter sample. I still love my Car Pro Reset especially when get on sale at 25% off. I use 2 ounces in my foam cannon and works great on my coated cars. Koch Chemie GSF is a close 2nd for me. Phil your top 3 APC's for prewash phase or are they all pretty much the same?
I have done this with other shampoos but on other filthy vehicles and did not get results like this. But then again to test all the different shampoos on every single type of vehicle takes too much time but I really donât have. All I know is I donât prewash with snow foam anyway, thatâs not our method. So I continue with our own method that we have with our APC rinse. The APCs that I stick with our super clean extra tough and sometimes Iâll switch it out with Koch Chemie green star or something else. đđđŒ
3rd arrived to the office. Like those new gloves
How come to get sent so many banners đ lucky guy đ€Ł Bilt Hamber do some great products but I get what you are saying.
đđđŒ.
Phil, Is there any issue using the APC rinse method on a Ceramic coated vehicle? Obviously using a quality APC diluted properly. I use MultiX but just got some Greenstar as well.
Hi. It really shouldnât be needed with a coating. Its best at that point to use a dedicated snow foam because itâs more gentle on the coating. Something like AM Snow Foam is great.
Where can I find the footage of you & Gabe working? I canât find it?
I filmed some video while I was up there a week ago. I don't have it on here yet.
Great video!! đ
This prewash is the best, but you do have to use alot to get 4% PIR , with my kranzle and pf22 I gotta use 600ml to get 4% , Phil how do you think it compares to KC GSF????
Well I don't pre wash like this anyway...I use the KC GSF as a shampoo to contact wash. So i haven't compared them in that way. I really don't like to prewash with a snow foam, so I'll try it a few times just to test it, but as always I'll go back to my proven proven APC rinse prewash as we usually do. But it is fun to try different methods out to see what happens.
Whatâs your pre wash method if you donât mind me asking?
Is your Preasure washer electric? And I like the handle you use
Hi the one I have in the shop in a cheap electric one, here is the pressure washer gun we use amzn.to/3r40zJH

Hey Phil, lots of great information (as usual) in this video thank you for that. So many variables comes into play and you so very right! Like you mentioned, it could be interesting if you could test that snow foam on grubby vehicules, but at a lower dilution ratio (1:3)? But i'm with you on that notion that for most of mobile jobs I do APC rince first and works great and cut down the cost also.
With all the experience and knowledge the 2 of you have, any thoughts and plans on future developpment products with your name on it ? ;)
Hi. Thanks so much! Iâm glad I made sense! đ€Ł. I try to keep things pretty simple, because there is no need to over complicate Detailing right?!đđ€Ż. You mean our own line of products? I havenât given it much thought lately. Not sure if I just want to private label and tweet products to my own needs or what. Youâre the second person to ask that this week. đ€
@@MirandaDetailing Agreed keep it simple and effective! Yes your own line of products, I sure would be very interested in that and probably a lot too, market is saturated with products and sometimes it's hard to navigate. @@MirandaDetailing and 1 more question if u used greenstar on dirty car everytime u washed it if u keep doing it forever can it deggrade clear coat or can it cause oxidation

Just wish channels would encourage people to buy their products from local detail suppliers rather than Amazon
I wish local places would carry of the products and tools that Amazon offers. Then that would change the game. But unfortunately they donât. đ€·đ»ââïž. I only buy some things locally but I canât find what I really want so I have to order things online. But I encourage Detailers to do what they need to do to get tools, products and so on. Hey Phil, what do you think about the 75th anniversary Turtle Wax product & a DA ?
Hi Ive applied pastes like this with a 3 inch pad on a da before and it works, spends it thinner also. I guess application depends on how I feel that day

I think I will be upgrading my trailer one to the California Air soon. Itâs quiet and fills up just as fast as the McGraw.
Thank you so much for the reply I have been looking into a California air tools 20 gallon 2.0 hp from home depot but wasnât sure. But I remembered you mentioned one in one of your videos but couldnât find the video. Thanks again
For the price is it a better value to get honey dew on Amazon? Ty
Are use a variety of shampoos and I find that it doesnât really matter. What does matter is my prewash with my APC Rinse. Thatâs just our method it works for us, itâs fast and very efficient. I understand it may not work for everyone but it does for us so thatâs why we stick with it. As far as shampoos soaps or prewash soaps it doesnât make a difference to me so I can even use the cheapest ones and still get the same results with my washing. What Iâm looking for is slickness in lots of foam. The reason I choose to have a high foaming shampoo is because the foam acts as a cushion. Not everyone agrees with that they think that foam is useless but I donât agree, that is not what I have experienced. But then again itâs just my way of cleaning.

@@MirandaDetailing thanks phill I was just wondering may try that trick for lower sections of my car although I just got bilt hamber auto foam I'll use your method for very bottom car and spray a lil under rocker panels
richmond?
Yeah. Actually Chesterfield but Richmond in general.
Given that you had only done a trip between washes, and you had fresh LSP, a much weaker PIR level of 1%-2% would have been sufficient (3%-4% was enough on my car that had 3 months of winter dirt on it). I would still do a contact wash afterwards though. I think though you are missing the importance of PIR. It might be surplus to requirements when using ph neutral products, as you said you can adjust the level of foaming by adding more or less product to the flask, but PIR is important with this product as it contains powerful alkaline surfactants and too high a concentration could increase the risk of stripping off some/all of your LSP or, worse case scenario, damaging your clearcoat. As for pricing, here in the UK it's less than $23 (incl. taxes), so it's very cost effective compared to other snow-foams. This product will give you better (or at least the same) cleaning results when foaming onto a dry vehicle, so using less water than your pre-rinse/apc/rinse technique.
