Totally normal for people to relate to some of these from time to time. An ADHD person experiences most of these on a daily basis without fail. This video is upbeat but living with ADHD isn't a walk in the park but with a few quirky differences. when your brain bombards you with 100 thoughts at once, all day, all night... and it's like that every single day, it becomes extremely stressful and leads to pretty bad anxiety as well. My brain doesn't shut off, ever. It plays a role in everything, I'm 30 years old and my whole life I tried to pretend I didn't need help... and that I could do this all on my own, well here I am finally seeking help. This video was awesome btw I don't know how im barely seeing this now. I use to watch Ryan every day.

    • @BunnyEZ
      @BunnyEZ Před rokem +3

I'm in the process of seeking help as well, but the only time I can feel like my brain doesn't have 1000 other thoughts is when I'm exhausted and want to sleep, it kind of feels like they're not as distracting so I just pass out. If I was trying to fall asleep while not really tired, it would be a difrent story. I'm still figuring things out, so I'm not sure if this is relatable, but that's how it is for me.

    • @ayusharyan683

@@BunnyEZ Yes, especially at the time of sleep when I'm not tired I can not sleep easily. There are a lot of thoughts that could easily keep me awake for another 1-2 hours and when I become tired of continuous mind chatter I fell asleep.

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Thank you for sharing this point!

There are some traits of ADHD that can be very positive but it just depends to what degree they impair the other aspects of your life. Like procrastination can be a really bad one if it isn't kept under control. Or lack of focus can make it difficult to get all your basic tasks done within a reasonable period of time or maintain a job.
But definitely under the right conditions creativity, fast-thinking and spontaneity can be awesome traits that lead to some great outcomes.

Oh my god....I was only diagnosed about a year ago and I'm nearly 50 and this has been me my whole life. He so perfectly describes exactly what has been going on in my head for ever. And, I love how fast he talks, I am always told to slow down, don't speak so fast. I heard someone respond when told to slow down, why don't you keep up? That's how I've always felt. Unfortunately, I got diagnosed because I have been having SO much trouble with my career, which is possibly failing the PhD I started before I realised I was ridiculously bad at project managing a 'giant' idea into a really tiny focused piece and not realising about the every thought leading to another would be a bad thing - worked great all the way up to no at Uni and in life, but anyhoo...It is just really frustrating bc it feels like I'm failing and I so know all about the subject and its brilliant but I just can't figure out all the little boring bits that I needed to do, but nobody told me and there was no way that I'd figure it out, and there is nobody who can really help me at the university, so I am doing a paper equal to about 6 months work in a few weeks - which is great, because I need the pressure but I just feel rather isolated because Im sure from their perspective it would be completely frustrating working with me just as its completely frustrating getting given pretty straight forward instructions, and at the time when they give them to me I think, yeah thats simple I can do that but then when I begin the work myself, I get completely confused and over-complicate it and am always behind because of being too embarassed to ask for help for what feels like ALL THE TIME!!!! Phew, didn't mean to write that much, thanks for the confessional

If what you said rings true to people with ADHD, then I kind of checked off everything on that list.
And it’s amazing how specific you’re being - such as fluidly reading several pages of a book, sounding out the words, maybe even reading out loud - then 2 pages later realizing you’ve been daydreaming about a phrase you read in the first paragraph of page 1 - completely not knowing what you just read.
Or the fact that I am ALWAYS playing an imaginary piano to a song that I’m listening to - even at 2am when I’m up late and can’t sleep.
Or the fact that I can’t sit down and have a phone call unless I’m doodling something (I am an art CZcamsr in my defence)
Or the fact that throughout school and my career, I always felt like that guy who couldn’t keep up - didn’t quite “have what it takes” regardless of my very persistent efforts
Or the fact that my CZcams videos, which are long-form talks about art career related things - are 100% of the time, completely freestyle. I just come up with a topic that I feel is important and go on about it until that thought exhausts itself.
I literally check off everything on that list - and I haven’t mentioned yet, I’m a fairly successful 46 year old (at least, successful now - but it was a rough road to get here)
And lastly, two of my 3 kids have ADHD (one diagnosed so far) - and I’m dating someone with ADHD - and I love people with ADHD, their humour, their sharp whit - like Girlfriend Reviews or Jim Carrey or well..
    You, quite frankly.
    Hmmm.

Finding a lump, bump or pimple and picking at it without realising and forgetting not to, making the pain or problem worse
Replying to conversations and then asking what you just replied to (lack of focus)
Constantly moving, even if it’s small movements like moving your teeth or fingers because you’ve had to mask it to fit in
Getting random ass waves of anger, sadness or full on crackhead
Getting really into things (like TV shows or bands) really intensely, but getting sick of it pretty quick
Good at doing things fast (like typing, talking, running)
    Gets distracted very easily

other (lesser known) symptoms of ADHD that i have, and maybe you do too:
    - hyperfocus: basically the opposite of the cliche “ooh butterfly”, where for an amount of time, usually between matter of hours to a couple days, you’re super focused on one thing, almost to the point of not being able to stop, even to the point (in severe cases), not eating or sleeping for days at a time solely because you couldn’t tear your focus away from doing one thing for even a short period of time.
    - self medication: some people that don’t take prescribed medication for their adhd are able to self medicate with caffeine, like coffee or energy drinks (yellow redbull is my favorite). It gives roughly the same effect as taking meds, i.e., less fidgeting and better focus.
    - can’t learn things from videos: i’m not sure why this happens, but if a lecture is uploaded in a video form, it’s a billion times harder to learn and take notes, even with the ability to rewind.
    - adhd depression: where it feels like there’s nothing to do, nothing sounds fun or appealing. you don’t want to read, watch youtube or netflix, exercise, etc, so life just feels bleak and boring and you usually just end up sleeping a lot, because although it’s boring, at least its something to do.
i hope you got some education, or further understanding of the enigma that is ADHD, and i hope you have an amazing day!

In fact, I take up everything and everyone in my environment, the elast thing I spend time on is what to order. It's so easy. With ADHD, you see the entire menu in a snap, and instantly know what you're getting. I even let everyone else order then make my decision after a few seconds glance at the menu. Of course I'll make it difficult with a special request like a lime, or extra sauce etc.

When I was 13 i fell into depression. I couldnt sleep, couldnt get up, forgot to eat, started to drink and smoke. I never had good grades, but was never able to work at school, and never fail any class.. I've always been called lazy.
At 17 I started to see a therapist that induced the idea that i was gifted, but we never did any tests so who knows. I saw 4 therapist until now, 2 of them didn't want me to take anti depressing pills because I was suicidal, one said I couldn't have depression because it shouldnt last this long.
The 4th one gave me meds and my depression vanished in few month at 28yo (or maybe it was covid and the 1st quarantine that just enlightened all my life).
But now Im starting to fell back into it, because all my life I thought getting rid of depression would mean freedom: being able to focus, work, wake up in the morning, remembering people and faces, remembering to shower or to eat, listening to ppl, and do stuff normal ppl do.
I'm 30, everything is still a fucking pain in the ass and im starting to wonder if its adhd, depression back again, or if im just a lazy salami that wants to find an excuse for its lazy ass.

I have went to Uni and embarrassed myself probably at-least once per day because of how inattentive and unorganised I am. I always show up to this laboratory session with zero clue as to what I'm supposed to be doing for the day because I procrastinate the entire day beforehand out of anxiety, so I try to listen to the lab conductor to understand what I'm doing, but that doesn't work because everytime I try and focus on what he's saying, the tension of trying to focus takes my mind off of being focused; so now I'm fighting some internal battle while I'm trying to listen that I ultimately end up failing every single time. When the time comes to do something, I panic and just start copying what other people do to appear like I don't have no clue what I'm doing. This inevitably always ends up failing, and I have to explain to the lab coordinator in front of all my peers that I'm just unorganised for the 50th time and came unprepared because that's the only pathetic excuse I can muster up.
It's all so incredibly humiliating and demoralising, because I'm not dumb, and I know I'm not; but I must come off as the biggest slow-learner in all of that class because I am always constantly making excuses to why I am doing so poorly and having zero clue what I'm doing. I haven't even been diagnosed with ADHD before so the last thing I want to do is make excuses to my peers that the cause of my poor performance is something I don't even know is the case, but as I read more and more online I start to genuinely believe I may have it. I've only gotten as far through Uni as I have through pure luck, chatGPT, and winging it. That's quite-literally it, and I'm ashamed of it. And I also HATE group assignments not because other people's ideas get in the way of my own, but because I always have no ideas to what I'm doing and I constantly have to rely on others to help push me through it, which makes me feel like this giant unaccomplishing dead weight on my group that I can always tell they get annoyed at.

Id recommend not jumping to conclusions and seeing a dr. there's a chance you actually have a mood disorder. Having "mild adhd" doesn't exactly work that way while on a spectrum its not stronger to weaker its more type 1-2 and combined + symptomatic vs not. Bi polar and borderline personality disorder are common misdiagnosis and involve the not smiling thing heavily =)

The game is someone in charge will say a simple line to all of the line group leaders AT THE SAME TIME IN A CIRCLE. and every groups leads (like the most front person) will go back to their own line of people have to pass "that simple line" to the second person through whispering. Then the fastest group to pass that line till the end wins. (the last person in that particular line will need to say it to the person in charge to win)
I was literally the front most person at my group line so I had to go with the other groups' front most people to that "person in charge" to hear to line. I was too focus on focusing the line that I literally forgot what he says like 2 seconds later when I had to go back and pass it down to the other guy. ITS JUST A SIMPLE LINE (something like "after this game we'll go back to the classroom" or some shit) AND I CAN'T FKIN DO IT OMFG I WAS SO FKIN EMBARRASSED AND thank god that "person" told me again jesus.... most annoying thing about ADHD is when you start talking to a friend about the weather, but then you have to stop to backtrack to find out how you got onto the subject of nuclear fission.

Lol I have to keep track of tangents in my head, like a big rocket-science type problem being written on a big board in my brain. Then, some parts get erased and I end up concluding whatever I'm talking about randomly.

Adhd seems like such a common thing in the way people explain it, it seems like i have it since its pretty much everything i do but not how people show it

I sometimes literally forget how many times I have washed my head in the shower, whether I locked the door, closed the refrigerator, whether I washed some other particular place in the shower twice and whether the amount of drops of shampoo I have squeezed out of that shampoo bottle is the required amount, less or more. When I talk about an event I have experienced in real life, it goes on and on, jumping from a mini event to an idea that is connected to the event.
I have so many god damn hobbies.

@@sapphiregolden5365 yeeeeeeesssssss there’s too many comments in here that we’re making me feel....idk bad like I was faking/making excuses so that isn’t helping my doubt
I feel like it would be better to get a professional diagnosis than to not know if you’re really concerned

Like when people say to your face that you're lying, it really makes you think twice about telling people that you have it. Really, really sucks lol

I hate people who hate people who self-diagnose. From where I'm from, seeing a doctor is a privilege. Self-diagnosing is the only way I can make sense of myself. I hope they realize that diagnosing our conditions is heavily influenced by our material conditions and being an ass about it is elitist af.
