I may be wrong but it seems that in this song one of the vocal tracks, the high pitched one we hear, is generated - 1 octave or something added to what he actually sings.
It's something UDO-ish over the bridge and chorus. Very catchy. Halford is really good at that. He isn't just an excellent singer, but he is very good at composing catchy vocal melody-lines.
I laughed out loud when i first saw the title "Winter songs" by Halford, i thought to myself " totally unexpected and fucking brilliant". And it was, absolutely amazing stuff, this is what metal is all about. Good times!
Rob you have the best voice in music period. . . I wish you would do a gospel CD, the LORD wants to use you so badly. You hint around about GOD in songs like Exciter and Judas is Writing, I wish you would go the extra step and allow Christ to use you more.

Most of your peers, & their official channels never allow for their listeners to comment on their content. Of course there are a lot of blatant idiot trolls that will come w/I'll will & stupidity towards the content creators, but for the most part it's huge life long fans that just want to connect w/the artist to let them know how much the content creators meant to them thru out their lives.

Go see a concert he can do screams so good from ear piercing high notes to Seth Putnam type screams, he tends to start losing his voice near the end of the concert but oh well, he also adds in some death growls too.
He doesn't do the high notes, or screams, these days. But he can. Check out Wrathchild from the "Live At Ullevi" concert (you can find it on youtube). There he does a serious scream.
@bubbatha There's an interview somewhere on here where he says he plays a little guitar on the album too. No surprise since he wrote the entirety of War of Words himself. He has more up his sleeve than a great voice. :)
dude dickinson's technique is like the worst of those. He just pushes his chest voice into the high range. it worked for him in the 80's but these days alot of the high notes come out thin and nasally. I think what has allowed halford to have the huge range he has is that he developed his head voice with as much focus and power as his chest voice
Dude, no. Please don't try to analyse anybody's vocals when you clearly don't understand them. Rob is the metal god, but range is not everything, and no matter how much I love him the fact remains that very often Rob's high notes sound childish and Catlike, like a witches cackle. His screams are great, but alot of his phrased stuff isn't great. What Rob does sounds more difficult than it is. He also sings with a closed passagio, which is terrible for the voice, which Is probably one of the reasons he had a serious dive in ability from 2005 till 2018. Bruce sings with proper operatic technic, and he covers his voice, allowing him to hit high notes without taxing his voice and still sound manly. Two other great examples are Micheal Kiske and Eric Adams, supported Falsetto screams just like Rob, but with an open passagio and a covered sound. He's the metal god, a great singer and one of the best performers in the world, but hes not the best singer. Brucey, Micheal, Eric and Dio are just a few examples. At the end of the day, its all about personal taste, but throughout his career, Rob's technical ability has been inconsistent, due to being mostly self taught
If any single man deserves immortality, it's Rob.
