I did an 1½ heim joint/ ball joint delete on a pioneer 500 with 52" tires on it, 60% gear reduction in the transmission and 35% gear reduction on 8" portals and ran into every single issue you're talking about. It worked well until buddy hit a deep cross rut at about 15/20 mph. I built the a arms as thick and beefy as I could with what I had and it folded the uppers up like a damn lawn chair. Been considering doing my pioneer 1000 w 6" portals, the 1½ heim joints/ ball joint delete but I'm fully aware I need to beef up the frame/A arms/ steering etc. so I'm still figuring the cost and amount of work it will take me to get it all where it's practical and functional. I'm running 3" lifted/ 1½ forward offset arms w 6" portals on 35" tires now and the only thing that sucks is once you go much bigger than it is now you don't fit down trails as easily and it becomes more of a "look at how tall I am" bike than a "look what I can do" bike.
