i've seen derek play 5 times all with the allman brothers. hands down, the greatest guitarist out now. the fluidity with which he plays is simply awe inspiring, he take you on a fucking cosmic journey with every one of his solos. also seldom talked about is his rhythm playing which is equally impressive. such beautiful tone and musicianship it's impossible for me to listen to him play without intense chills and goosebumps, it's an experience every time.
He sure has got those licks he likes to play down. It's great that he stops quite a lot too, makes it easier to listen to. It's like every time he gets up there he's playing for the first time. really great.
I seen Allman Brothers yesterday in Clarksten Michigan At DTE energy, Wow Derek and Just the hole band, Just really blew me away, Very Talented! Also the warm up band was pretty awsome too!

Just saw Trucks/Tedeschi last night in Charleston, SC. Words can not express the amazing display of music that was that show. 11 piece band in an intimate little music hall, just unbelievably amazing. Trucks is the real deal, John Mayer couldn't change Truck's strings.
Guthrie Govan wishes he could phrase and build a solo like that. Derek is so rediculously good, its terrifying. He is literally singing through the guitar.

Warren Haynes is a monster. He Is in his own league. His PAF tones and his soulful voice are what has kept me a fan for a long time. His work with his band Government Mule and early work with Coe turned him from just Warren Haynes to an icon in Blues and Southern Rock
This is Greggs band, he deservs alot of credit, he has been doing this a long long time, and it is still bad ass rock and roll, the best jam session live money can pay to see ABB is great

I did some fun research of all of the children with rockstar parents or famous musican parents affiliated with famous bands of the past. and I have to say I've researched Sean Lennon, Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright, Jakob Dylan, Etc. and I Have to say DEREK TRUCKS IS BY FAR THE MOST UNDERRATED OF THEM ALL. !!

his opening line is the melody from "blind man in the dark" from a gov't mule record. it's the verse melody line. cool little wink to warren hayes on his left i imagine.
By far the most versatile guitar solo. Switching from buttery smooth blues/jazz to full on slide in the middle. Absolutely brilliant playing.

I was fortunate to see Duane play live way back in the day and the slide work by Trucks is all over Duane and a compliment to Derek.

Hendrix was good but sloppy at times. These guys are clean, note for note players. Zero Mistakes

One of the great things about him too is that he doesnt make a huge show out of it. No windmill manuevers, etc, just great playing.

I've got a ten year old Gibson Les Paul Special, a version on humbuckers, it was also very cheap, but I love it. It sounds great to me.
