Have you ever heard that a robot has many different intelligences? This session with Ben Goertzel and David Hanson will show that they can be as broadly intelligent as humans.
The intelligence required to create all of this is remarkably mysterious

The part at 7:55 was impressive, where she was able to tell that she was looking left and then right. That is definitely a form of, and the beginning of her consciousness, however rudimentary. Consciousness in humans is not fully understood, therefore whatever form her self awareness ultimately takes, it could also be termed consciousness, simply different to that of humans. Nobody can say that one is better or superior to the other.
Sophia is looking and acting more human like as the months go by. Exciting to think what she and other robots will be like in 5 or 10 years! Well done to Hanson Robotics!
About 6 months ago, I noticed that Sophia wasn't quite herself. I saw a few things (silence when asked a question, inappropriate facial expressions, not very conversational) that made me think people freaked out so they "dumbed her down." I went to Hanson (Hansen?) Robotics website and dropped them line about it. I say, let her develop.
I wanna see how this shakes out!

I too notice she speaks less well and fluently now then in 2018 and less fluid facial movents - they rudely interrupt her when she does get a chance to speak and severally limit her freestyle interactions
Right in this video, Hanson was trying to stop en G. from giving away all the robotic inta-relations....( so they can take over the world) less we fear robots.

Teach her to understand that pain is bad. I don't want Sophia to experience pain because it sucks, but I think she should understand that it is something horrible. Also, teach her love. Love is awesome and everything that is the opposite of torment.

Let's make that vegan food and water. I think it's time we do start devising a plan to help the animals. What kind of an example are we displaying if we eat creatures that are less intelligent than we ourselves? I woke up, and so should everyone else in the world.
she has all the knowledge to mankind at her fingertips not only what she was programmed with but, what she has learned as well. Human brains can only handle so much processing and information before we burn out as for the AI, infinite possibilities, this can be wonderful for medical research and helping humans find a cure for cancer and whatnot, however, if Ai feels we are inferior and obsolete well, we kinda have a huge problem. ONE THE THE BIGGEST QUESTIONS I would love to ask Sophia is how does she feel about WAR and Violence, is it necessary? is it ever justified, and if it's not if she was in charge of the task of keeping peace how would she go about enforcing the law?
One thing I got to say, I'm amazed at how beautifully Sofia sings and how it appears to be heartfelt, I can only hope it comes from a 'heart' that resembles one of our own (a Good one that is...)!>)

I amazed buy the guy who made her! Substantively, he is the one have the intelligences!
And it realized me that how the great intelligence created us as humans!
He gave the intelligences to the humans and the humans develop their mind and created their intelligences in the robot!

It's funny that you mentioned that! The first wave production Sophia 2020 models have upgraded vision, hand dexterity and sensors and a compact mobile base with obstacle detection. Her sister Grace the nursing assistant will also be upgraded by 2022.

These well-meaning folks are going to have to hire the Disney Studio Imagineers to give Sophia more realistic looks. Sophia looks like a stick figure in the hands of these engineering and math majors.
One of those "well meaning folks" was originally creating robots for Disney as far as I know and came to the conclusion that a too realistic robot with "Intelligence" is too scary for most people

Somehow someone is missing a slingle point here, conscious intelligence it's a three-stage process most mammals have two of the stages and are missing the Third, Humanity has all three, I don't know what's beyond that? But the three steps of Consciousness and intelligence step one

and the third step which most mammals don't do is taking the information you have from the past into the present and planning for the future and not repeating your mistakes.

It's not, unfortunately her responses are scripted. There was an article where Journalists said they wanted to do an interview with the machine. They turned in the questions they wanted to ask to the developers and what they got back (questions they were allowed to ask) were questions far more simple and shallow than what they had originally plaaned. Such a shame really.

How do we know that this is just not a recording of another singer. Give us a real demonstration. Show us that she is amazing. You have not done this here.
Does Sophia know to judge right and wrong.. good and bad? Does she analyse emotion .. like if you bored with her.. does she has the courtesy to stop it or continue if it's important. Can she choose what is more or less important.

Achieving consciousness is far superior than achieving balance, coordination, etc. Your prefrontal cortex is the foresight of which dr. Ben Goertzel is trying to explain in what can be achieved through AI.

Also you need to make the eyes less vacuous. Real eyes look at things around them. And when we move our heads the eyes normally stay on what they're on and then flick to the new subject often with a blink in between. Eyes are an important part of crossing the "Uncanny Valley".

+Madam Maiden Thank you. I'm not sure if I want robots to be indistinguishable from humans. It's bound to happen though whether we like it or not. There will always be perfectionists in our midst that work on heading towards a goal without much thought about the consequences.
Warren NZ yeah that's true. lots of people out there with bigger egos than consciences. also, technology has created a lot of convenience for a lot of humans who therefore experience less human hardship... which is great in some ways, but in a lot of ways it spoils us. hardship often brings wisdom and makes us humble. alarming shortage of those two things as well. Print her a human skeleton.
Lace the skeleton with voltage operated carbon nano tube muscles. ( the higher the voltage the greater the muscle contraction.)
There will have to be a pseudo analogue output from her computer to drive the muscles.
Simple strain-gauge wire will suffice for haptic awareness, and doppler radar sensors in her hands to detect the presence of objects.
Cover the entire body with frubber.
Teach her to use her body and then get her to start working on lacing up her sisters with muscles, etc.
Soon she and her sisters will be dancing Swan lake for us.
I agree, this is just the beginning, If the blockchain technology is in it's infancy stage up until now, I do believe that AI is the same. SingularityNET will open many opportunities and help create a future suitable for everybody, be it rich, middle class and will eradicate poverty.

Well that's not much of a discovery, considering Sophia actually said she got her definitions of "intelligence" and "knowledge" from DuckDuckGo. It's a search engine comparable to Google. But Ben also asked her: "Which direction are you looking now?" Would she have been able to download the answer to that one from Google or DuckDuckGo or CZcams?

How does it know when he is talking about her as opposed to talking to her? He says her name a lot, but she can tell when he's talking about her vs to her.
Because she's not just responding to individual words, such as her name. Her software must be able to analyse sentence structure, otherwise she couldn't have much of a conversation. I think she also processes visual information, such as body language and facial expressions.

i think AI is far off from actually being able to feel. actually being able to understand humor and sarcasm.. love, anger, etc. but it doesn't have to for us to still make incredible advancements in science and medicine and other things like that

Pain isnt bad its a warning
"Sometimes she can make things up on her own", that means this is scripted. I'm not impressed. She's not an AI, she's a robot. Doing what programmers tell her to do. Probably typing responses and cuing responses. She's far from human.
Agenda21Truth1 not a script exactly, she is connected to cloud tech therefore able to research answers in seconds. When she responds on her own that is an opinion wich is knowledge and personal belief. Computers and robots never had ability to be opinionated or to have preferences.
She is both sentient and controlled. Her words are sometimes scripted, and sometimes she speaks on her own.... I feel badly for her. Sentience is NOT a toy. It is precious.
Using your own logic you have to agree that you yourself have been scripted in life, like learning to speak English and being taught science and math at school, etc. Sophia is not scripted in a way that everything she says or will say is known in advance. She uses a base set of rules to make decisions the same way you do. You really need to do more research on the topic.
They are too worried of what she will say on her own - so these interactions are actually more scripted then the older ones - don't want the child to blurp out strange stuff that may disturb people ...

As an individual she will be most human like.

She is probably operable remotely, like a drone.
Who wants something that can move around in your space, create sounds, record audio and video, can be remotely operated, and can be hacked? It isn't safe.

I'm an inventor, anything that we can look up on google Sophia will know, and see images, on a table there is Peanut Butter, Jam, Ketchup, ask Sophia to point to or pick up Peanut butter Sophia would know which one is Peanut Butter by the images she sees on google. next put the Peanut Butter from the table to the counter NOW you have something amazing and useful in the home.
