  • Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye discuss the Phoenix Suns firing Frank Vogel to hire Mike Budenholzer, why it seems like NBA teams constantly recycle the same coaches, and what teams like the Lakers should do if they want to hire a first-time head coach.

    I just don't understand recycling coaches who use philosophies that don't align with the roster or the GM's plan for the roster.

    So the Suns fire Frank Vogel (who was a Defensive Minded Coach) and hire Mike Budenholzer (for another Defensive Minded Coach) and still have a starting lineup that is more Offense than Defense. Make that make sense. Gonna get the same outcome at the end of next season that you got at the end of this season. Unless Phoenix trades Booker or Durant for a more Defensive Player or Players. Smh 😕

    The Suns keep hiring coaches based on name recognition rather than ability.

  • @lakeshoresubtleties
    @lakeshoresubtleties Před 15 dny +3

    Yeah, that is a flawed roster. A roster that was just put together, no less. And took 1/2 the season to have consistent health amongst their stars. Vogel likely wasn't really the problem, or even a problem there. Same as when he was in L.A. Budenholzer I'm a little less sold on, particularly offensively, but he got the Bucks organized enough to get them to a chip.

      eh, close. More like they know none of them can run the offense themselves, but refuse to concede the fact to a coach they don't respect. They were all stressed. Rather than take responsibility and figure it out togethet they sort did a passive mutiny, knowing they could scapegoat Vogel in the end.

    So I hear this all the time about how the Lakers messed up not hiring T Lue when they had the chance. But, the other side of the coin is that T Lue could have taken the job and he would already won another chip or maybe two Bron and AD. He hasn’t won a thing with the Clips. Lakers likely would have re-worked his deal after the first year and gave him what he wanted anyway. Nobody ever mentions that.

    • @X5J2UY
      @X5J2UY Před 15 dny +2

      The only way Ty Lue would've won a chip in LA is before the Westbrook trade.
      Ham is a bad coach, but let's not pretend like this roster is good enough to win. The Westbrook trade set this team back by 2-3 years. Trading all our good role players, having to rely on small contract players...

    • @mduncan28
      @mduncan28 Před 15 dny +2

      @@X5J2UY I think you may be on to something. But Ty Lue with Bron and AD had a chance to win it all. I don’t see it ever happening with the Clips.
