    I just made them, and it was my first time doing pastelillos de guayaba. They’re absolutely delicious, buttery, flakey, they didn’t break apart. I love them!

      @@JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen three layers are the normal panaderia size, I too prefer them two layered as they are easy to eat and you can make 1/3 more with the same dough . Yummy. Thanks for your recipe and video. Love it.

    Thank you for exact details, if i decided to add cream cheese should i add less guayaba or do half and half of each ..do i whip the cream cheese should it be cold or room temperature...will it need a longer time in the oven . Do i put in fridge or plastic container ,if so will it stop being flaky do you have any tricks to keep fresh other than eating them all 😋..sorry for all the questions!

    • @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen
      @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen  Před 4 lety +4

      Hi there! To add cream cheese, what I would do is, first, mix the cold cream cheese with a little bit of powdered sugar - I would do 4 oz of cream cheese to 2 tbs of powdered sugar. Then, I would put the cream cheese mix (the 4 oz will be plenty for the 6 pastelillos) on the bottom layer and the guava on the top layer. The cream cheese will be a bit heavier and wetter so better to put it on the bottom. I would bake it at same temperature and for the same amount of time. Let me know how it goes for you!

      As to keeping them fresh, as soon as they are completely cooled, so about 1 hr after taking them out of the oven, put them in a ziploc bag - I think they keep the freshest in there.

    Great video. Qiestion: Why wet the edges when you're going to cut them anyway. Well explained. Thanks.

    • @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen
      @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen  Před 3 lety

      That's a great question! I am hoping that I am wetting more than what I cut but the cutting also helps making sure that the edges stick together.

    what can you substitute the guava with

    • @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen
      @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen  Před 3 lety

      Great question - you can use a thick thick jam (want to really minimize water content in there), chocolate chips, Nutella...

  • @toxicqueenrivera2077
    @toxicqueenrivera2077 Před měsícem

    You make the guava like paste u get a mixer and add some dark Rum little bit only trust me that’s the best way super good or add little water to the paste and boom

    What type of cheese do you add to this recipe if you want to do PASTELILLOS DE GUAYAVA Y QUESO?

    • @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen
      @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen  Před 3 lety

      I think a sweetened blend of cream cheese would be a good way to go. Check out our video where we do quesitos (czcams.com/video/sACxQD3U0Zg/video.html). The same filling recipe should work here. Good luck! 😊

    A lot of waste and if you do two pastries you get more. The puff pastry is delicious no reason to discard.

    • @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen
      @JeffandJosPuertoRicanKitchen  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, it just depends on how clean you want the edges to look. Easier to get a clean line if you cut away some of the edges at the last minute.
