Already bought it, with i9-13th, 4090 suprim x, Gskill 7200, meg ai1300 psu, MSI meg 700r prospect, liquid cool hard line loop, can't wait to build it
Nice, dude ☺
I would luv to build my next one like that
How did this build turn out ?
Similar build for me. Loving the Suprim X. Pretty sure it’s the best card in this generation of cards
Hey I just discovered your channel and I just wanted to show my respect that you've been making videos for so long and you don't stop. keep it up !
Thank you! That means a lot to me
Também descobri o canal agora.
Muito bom o conteúdo.
Just bought this Mobo for my new build. thanks for posting this!
Oh awesome! You're welcome
@Jordan Ash I know I could have bought a cheaper board but this one looks so good! It's gonna be an all MSI build except for the g skill ddr5. I might be going with the 4090 suprim x liquid I think. It is very nice looking also. It isn't black though so it won't match everything else in the board so I've been looking at other MSI gpu's.
You are the first I found with a solid review of the board. I saw another, but it was more about overclocking the DDR5. So you earned my sub and I'll be perusing your videos now.
You could always use vinyl wrap on the brighter parts to make things more stealthy.
Thank you, glad it was helpful!
Getting one installed today I’m excited
Not installing it yourself? I'd want to for that price.
@@jordanash I would but I'm pretty busy atm so I figured I'd have a repair shop do it plus if they mess it up it's on them. I'm not to worried though this place has great reviews and sells there own pcs.
Oh right, fair enough
u sounds and explain slowly and calmly, not like fast blaa blaa other rich youtubers.
Subscribing u
Discovered ur channel through this video.
Thank you so much! I'm glad it's helpful
I would like to see tutorial for best performance settings to overclock a bit more of single boost
This was only on loan and has gone back now, sorry.
That little touch screen could've been implented better, like say mounted onto the case tower. I like the MB layout, but I just dont see any real value in the long term. And 7 M.2 is way overkill. Plus, can you really make full use of all those M.2 without it hindering other features of the MB. In almost every MB I had built in the past. I come to find out if I use this slot or that plug. I can not use this or that other slot or plug, which, to me, seems to defeat the purpose of even having it on there and not being able to make full use of that slot or plugin.
I almost got this but couldn't find one, settled for the z790 ACE. Am waiting at work to go put my computer together
The Ace is a lovely board anyway, great choice. Enjoy!
Building my system from the ground up, first diy. Have a fairly big budget but want to future proof it. Would this be worth the money for a first time builder?
This is overkill for a first time builder to be honest. You'll be paying for a lot of feature you won't use. I'd go for the ROG Z790 Hero from ASUS over something like this. Still a beast of a board, but without stuff you won't touch.
Absolutely no reason a board should cost this much. Doesn’t stop me wanting it though
Nice isn't it!
Here's a reason I'm still running a X79-GD45-PLUS, with i7-4930x, and 128gb 3200mhz RAM...I started off with 1x 1080ti and upgraded to SLI 3x 1080ti before a SDD shorted and caught fire, I barely saved this system. Changed out the psu twice and the ram, then upgraded to a 3080ti. And after 12 years it's still running amazing FPS. I will always buy MSI, even when the board still shows signs of fire damage
I just purchased Z790 max. I am trying to understand how to use the audio connectors on the back of the motherboard to connect to a 7.2 AV receiver so I can get full Atmos. But i need to be able to connect from the motherboard directly to the AV receiver. How is this possible. I am using a monitor not a TV so ARC is not possible. If this is not the right place to ask this type of question, where would be the right place?
Hmmm, I'm not sure if this would supply what you needed for Atmos straight out,, there's nothing about it being supported on the website. You could just take an HDMI to the receiver, then that can spit out atmos.
What is that big cool case you're using on the review?
Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2
what do you mean by when the features exist? is the bios not out yet, or the parts?
The parts. Gen 5 GPUs aren't out yet and Gen 5 storage hasn't got to mainstream market
I'm surprised motherboards don't have wifi 7 yet also does the back io usb c ports charge my rog phone at 65 watts?
I'm sure it takes months of R&D to add things like that. Hmmm, not sure to be honest. I know ASUS motherboards have an additional PCI connector to add it to the front USB C, but not sure about the rear I/O on this
Do you still have this board? If you do, can you add a cpu and see if you go into bios and if there is an option for IGPU within bios? It could end the debate about if there is any IGPU capability on this board. MSI told me that it is a hidden option in the BIOS.
I don't no sorry. Not at the point I get to keep this kind of priced stuff
Ok, thank you for the very quick reply.
No problem
Hey, I have a question. If a motherboard says for example, Wifi 7 does it mean that it supports UP to Wifi 7 or only wifi 7?
Yeah it's up to, but please watch the whole video.
This is the same board as the Meg Ace, but with 2 more M.2 drives and the touch monitoring screen, but £500 more
Yup
Which M.2 slot should I install my main operating system M.2 SSD? M2_1 or M2_2 ??
The reason I ask is because my M2_1 slot is way over on the opposite side of the memory RAM cards (from the CPU).
I read online there are M2_0 slots but I can't find one - is there an M2_0 slot I should be looking for? Thanks !! !!
My motherboard is also the MSi MEG GODLIKE but it's the slightly different X670E which explains my different layout situation.
Yeah in the manual the Gen 5 is the one next to the Dimm slots. Also LOL at the picture of them installing a stock cooler onto this board
This is exactly what ive been looking for....god damn
Please watch the whole video first...
I watched the entire video...still want it
I wouldn't recommend it for a reliability standpoint, as it's not a popular seller they don't focus on bios updates
WOW! 2 x PCI-E and both x16 !!! amazing
I don't think they'll both run X16 at the same time though, there's not enough lanes on the CPU.
Velcro m-vison to the shroud under the D-bug
If you wanna use velcro on a $1200 board, go for it 😅
What is the purpose of the mini display port in to thunderbolt 4 out? Is it faster display than just a normal display port from gpu to monitor?
So minus the high bandwidth, one other thing people use it for is daisy chaining products, makes cables management easier.
@@jordanashI see so just using a displayport would be better for FPS then?
Yep, unless you're transferring files to another device, there's no benefit in using it over just connecting your monitor to the gpu. It'll just increase latency.
@@jordanashThank you for the clarification
@@jordanashThey only downside I've found with this motherboard is there aren't enough USB header pins at the bottom. I needed one more for monitoring my PSU.
Have this and the Aorus xtreme and can't decide which one to keep.
First world problems haha
@Jordan Ash lmao... sucks because the godlike is so big. Can't figure out a case I like. Phanteks are announcing new cases at CES today so it just depends. Probably stick with the xtreme though.
The MSI Meg Ace and Godlike supporting DisplayPort over thunderbolt and allowing workloads that support intel Quicksync acceleration, having 60W from the front usb-c was the main draw for me to the MSI boards. Combined with Gigabytes fan control being a little flakey, it only allows 3 second delay time between temp swings which i find makes the fan control quite spikey.
@@Jolinator yeah I'm leaning towards keeping the godlike. I have the Z590 godlike and love it
And if the processor has a video core, then how to connect a monitor from this motherboard without a video card?
If you're buying this motherboard, there is absolutely no reason to be using on board graphics unless you need to troubleshoot
@@jordanashI want to be able to eliminate problems in future on my own, so you could still tell how to do it?
Use the Mini DP on the rear I/O
Wish people would go over something else about these. Like why would I want it, instead of just going over the features like everyone else.
My big question is…. Will this future proof me at $1200? Especially buying a i9 and How long would I be able to keep it when i11 comes out?
Well like I said in the video, if you need all the M.2 ports then that's a reason, but for the price there's not a lot you can't do for considerably less money. You can "future proof" for a lot less.
Next CPUs will likely be a new socket, so likely no
@@jordanash are the new sockets better and faster? I never thought about this part of the processor before.
Not sure, there's not been any news yet. Usually comes out in October
@@Monuments_to_Good_Intentions i bought the AMD AM5 godlike mobo for $1300.. it made sense because AMD started new socket on this one meaning i can upgrade for 3 maybe 4 generations, all the way through 2026... if youre an intel fan wait for the godlike with intel 14th gen socket, if you get 13th gen with this board youll only have this single build, NO upgrade path considering 13th gen is the last intel cpu for their socket.. hopefully that made sense, point being if im paying over a grand i better be able to upgrade twice on the same board for 5 years minimum
Yeah, that's like I said about the new socket.
This or the ace? Idk which to get!
I'd go for the ace personally, I think with this you'll be paying for a lot of features you might not use.
Shame this is an E-ATX board it just won't fit in my new case :( I would also struggle to justify the cost to be honest
Get the Ace, that's a lovely board. This has a lot of things most people will never touch
Where are people buying this? I can't find it anywhere in the US.....
Newegg has them in stock.
Got mine off newegg
If you do use Newegg, I hope they've improved
@@jordanash been using them for years and never had any issues
Fair play
Which brand is the cpu cooler?
Corsair H170i Elite LCD.
Will this motherboard fit in a XL case
Depends on the case dude, 'XL' is very vast.
@@jordanash mid tower?
I mean vast as in that covers a lot of bases, there are some big cases that would take it and some that wouldn't. It varies so much that an 'XL' case isn't really specific enough. Have a look cases that support EATX.
This one only has 1 PCI-e 5.0, where Asus ROG Crosshair Extreme has 4 PCI-e 5.0. I guess you can throw all your m.2 SSD's - PCI-E 3.0 and PCI-E 4.0.
The AM5 processors have more pci lanes to play with too.
Why so bad? No bios updates, no 8000hz memory support... MPG Z790I EDGE and asus z790 apex have memory 8000hz support but this for x2 price NOT!! WHY?
The Apex is prominently an overclocking board anyway though. My guess for lack of support with this would be because it's an expensive product, not many will buy it unlike their affordable products, so they'll be focusing on those first.
Why are there only two pcie slots
Guessing they didn't feel the need for more as SLI and crossfire isn't a thing anymore, plus X1 devices can be used in an X16 slot.
@@jordanash But both the Asus and MSI z690 godlike have three pcie slots
Yeah probably as they're more likely to be used for capture cards and things like that.
I've had too Godlike motherboards in the last 3 months and they've been nothing but problems.
Oh blimey, that sucks.
@@jordanash they did come OPEN BOX from Amazon to be fair. I ordered NEW and unfortunately it happens woth them sometimes..other time I get GREAT DEALS...but this time was a bust...I loved mine though...the first one didn't start and the second one had bent pins and caused my chip to cook at 107 degrees celsius... not the fault of MSI
was curious on this one as I scored the ROG x670e Extreme (Asus's flagship, $800 cheaper)
definitely impressive motherboard regarding onboard storage solutions but tbh i dont think i could ever find myself using MSI bios and mystic software again.
ROG for the win
Additional $800? Blimey, expensive there then. It's £200 ($318.87) more here.
@@jordanash agreed, very expensive. its around $2500 here.
tbh i dont understand the flack AMD r getting with am5 motherboard prices. the Z790 rog extreme costs $2000 whilst the AM5 version is $1700 with far better gen 5 nvme solutions (actually supports onboard gen 5 nvme without taking away pcie lanes from the gpu unlike the 13th gen platform).
I think the flack for AMD boards was more for the budget end as they could only use DDR5 which was still super expensive at the time. Also budget end you're not going to be filling all the M.2, so PCU lanes aren't an issue there.
@@jordanash true. but even for high end amd boards filling all the gen 5 m.2 slots doesnt decrease pcie lanes whilst with z790 all onboard storage is gen 4 with an adaptor card bringing gen 5 but it decreases gpu lanes to x8. cant wait for the future the am5 socket holds!
@@jordanash the 6pin port located next to the 24pin atx port on motherboard... what cable do i plug into that? a pcie cable?
my atx 24pin cable has a 6pin extension running off the bottom of it. however my psu has a 6pin plug located next to the 24pin plug, all under the ATX section. do i plug this into the motherboard or psu?
I bought it
Ouch
Why is it so W I D E ? xD
Cause MSI like making them THICC. It's mostly to accommodate the extra M.2's and the screen.
i wont even use that mvision dashboard
Fair play
I just got my board. Keeping it brand new and not even breaking the seals. I have 1-2 of each Godlike from the Z390 thru Z790. Hoping they go up in price to sell down the road. I almost missed the z790 because it came out of nowhere with low stock, of course. They are very novel boards for sure.
I can't really imagine something like this going *up* in price, but good luck.
The cheapest z890 will beat that e expensive motherboard don't worth it
I don't think the cheapest will, as it won't have the power stages plus I/O this does, but it's certainly too expensive
What a waste of money
Not a good business decision. See what I did there?
