thanks for the video - I'm debating atm on getting a Celica, call it a midlife crises maybe, but is this the 140 or 190?
stock exhaust & airbox? (gives me an idea if it is as I would intend to have it not ASBO loud!)

This is a 140bhp Celica. Definitely get a 190, it's just a lot better, you won't regret it.

      Get the 190 T sport/GT VVTL-i

If you are still looking, 03+ 190 is the way to go. That said, if you're on a budget, the 140 model is still a blast on the backroads.

This is a 140 which functions a bit better as a daily. It has a slightly better power/torque curve until lift kicks in and I believe it also has longer gear ratios allowing it to sit at 70mph more comfortably on longer journeys. If you want pure smiles per gallon, definitely go for 2zz with the lift.

I own the GT version which I've had for 13 years now, and still love to drive it, the gen 7 celica is a great handling car and great to drive in any form.
Mine is standard apart from a jap speed exhaust( backbox)and a k&n filter element in the air box.
Sounds great with these fitted, but you need to keep the japspeed silencer element bolted in as it's way too loud without it 🙉
