You were obviously watching a video made by an American - who left Tasmania off the map, couldn’t pronounce Uluṟu or Oceania, and yes, doesn’t know the difference between a metre and a mile. The Australian Capital Territory (ACT), containing Canberra and Jervis Bay on the coast, was excised from New South Wales - just like the District of Columbia was excised from Maryland and Virginia (but Virginia took their bit back). The Northern Territory has a population of around 247,000 - less than 1% of the nation’s population. So giving them full state status with as many senators as the other states makes even less sense than making Wyoming a state (which has about one-seventh the population of Puerto Rico). Nevertheless, each of the two mainland territories have two senators each, while the six states have 12 senators each - making Tasmanians (with 2% of the population of Australia, and about the same population as Wyoming) the most electorally powerful voters in the nation.

Yes, definitely not an Australian presenter. Seems a very strange attempt to sound like neutral English with an occasional but usually badly pronounced Australian word or phrase. Also that was definitely not a realistic representation of Uluru, and any Aussie could have told him that at once.
Also that graphic attempting to represent the Australian indigenous couple, that is just so wrong in so many ways. No decent Australian media production entity would ever let graphics like that representing Aboriginals in their native environment ever be released for publication. That graphic was just a poor quality generic representation of some non-specific dark-skinned native couple.
It is also culturally insulting to present a graphic in public showing giant kangaroos hopping around The Rock (Uluru).

Congratulations on 50k subscribers, Ryan. Well deserved. Fun fact, Tasmania exists (not that you would know this from a lot of the maps on this video). You are correct: if there were 3 people per m^2, we would be packed in like sardines. It is 3 people per km^2. That means Australia has the third lowest population density in the world (after Namibia and Mongolia). The territories shouldn't be surprising. It is just like DC is not a state and Washington is not in Maryland or Virginia. In addition to the internal states, there are plenty of external territories, including Norfolk Island, Christmas Island, Cocos-Keeling Islands, Macquarie and Herd Islands and Australian Antarctic Territory. That first picture of Uluru looks nothing like Uluru.

The Northern Territory people actually voted against becoming a state in 1998 in a referendum. They didn't like their current Chief Minister at the time and it also would have meant that they had only 3 senators in Federal Parliament where every other state has currently 12. The NT getting 12 also was argued against primarily by the larger states [NSW and VIC] because it would have meant that the voters in the NT [current population is about 250, 000] would have 30 times the voting power for Senate seats than what other states do. With the creation of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly in 1974; that assembly exercises powers similar to those of the parliaments of the states of Australia but it does so through the Devolution of powers from the Federal Government and not by a state constitution as occurs elsewhere.

Square meter? 😂That would be 3 people per square kilometer.
The southern areas are closer to Antarctica which makes it cooler.
Charles has nothing to do with Australia except maybe visit rarely and wave.
Hard pushed to find a local who doesn't know how to surf? From what I can find about 4% surf.

A little point about boomerangs: many Aboriginal people across the continent produced them in the traditional lifestyle, but only a few made boomerangs that came back. Most boomerangs were designed to break the leg of the animal and just fall to the ground.
Only a few Aboriginal communities in the tropical parts of northern Australian produced a returning boomerang.

Ryan....another intersting fact for you : according to the the 2021 census - 5.5 million Australians speak another language other than English at home. The most common of these include Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic and Italian as well as First Nations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.
Australia is home to 270 different ancestries. Collectively approximately 400 hundred languages other than English are represented by its various immigrant communities.
Australia is a truly multilingual and multicultural nation.

    Well done on 50
Not true only a small percentage surf
But most if not all kids are taught to swim the basics
Due to in my era lots of death in drownings
We have very strict rules on swimming pools must be fenced off and have to come under a safety standards
This was bought in to stop kids drowning it reduced deaths drastically
Like most kids are taught in school how to do first aid and ring emergency services
There are kids who have saved their parents lives by knowing first aid
I'd advise you and wife to do a basic course now you have a little one
🤞you'll never need it but good to know in case
    Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍

I have read many, many of the comments below and there is much to digest amonst it all. So many people say he mispronounced Uluru. Which he did but none have had a go at providing the correct pronunciation. So here goes. Try to wrap your lips around this! lol
Oolla-roo. The first 'U' (the first letter in the word) is pronounced as a tight 'Oo' sound as in saying Gooood Morning Viet Nam! So if you take the sound of that 'o' combo and then add the double 'L' with 'a' spoken as a blunt 'a' sound. Then add the roo to the end and you will just about have it.
Or you can take the 'oo' from the 'roo' and say that at the beginning followed by the 'll' sound, then the blunt 'a' then put the roo on again at the end.
Either way will get you far closer than the man in the video did. The spelling is Uluru but our aboriginal folk have a funny way of pronouncing any type of 'o' sound.
Now had that word been interpreted today, it would have been said differently or more likely spelt differently.
