- Welcome to my review of the Legacy Thunder Megazord from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The second season 2 zord features all five main zords. The Red Dragon Thunderzord can transform into it warrior mode, they can all combine into the assault team and Megazord. In addition it four of the zords can combine with the already released Tigerzord. Is this thing worth the hefty price tag? Find out in the review.

As a transformer collector, this thing costing $200 when it came out, with those points of articulation and wobble, makes me very uncomfortable, when compared to my $200 transformer figures.
Yeah, compared to the Transformers Combiner teams, this wasn't quite up to par. I waited for the price drop.
I like how all the zords just turn into a sort of armor for the megazord mode.

For megatigerzord, try flipping the piece that clips onto the firebird so the round pieces fit into the little circles on tigerzord's paw
Really weird that they decided to avoid zord-builder to keep the standard combination for the Thunder Megazord but almost forced the Tigerzord to be a zord-builder by making you remove parts to combine it
When they made Tigerzord, they apparently weren't entirely sure they would even be making this one for... Some reason. I wish they had found a better way of storing the Tigerzord legs at least, and somewhere to put the thigh guards.
He also put the handle for Firebird on the hand upside down, so it ended up not being as secure as it could have been.
I remember having one as a kid. We didnt get a lot of things normally. So I cherished it. I wish I had still it. 😭
I just picked up both Thunderzord and Tigerzord for $210 shipped new. The prices have come down, but not for the 2015 Megazord (dino). It sells for a ton
The zords look cool. Just wish you could move the removeable parts on the tigerzord and unicorn and griffin with out removing them in case you loose stuff easy
The original toys had the tiger legs slot into the other Zords, and the thigh guards slide into the Tigerzord. I wish they had done something similar with this one, or at least had places for them to clip.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio yeah that’s where I think the 1994 verson is superior to the Legacy Mega Tigerzord. If it was just the Tigerzord by its self then the Legacy is better in my opinion at least
I had all the original thunderzords as a kid, this really is a case of hind sight is 20/20. If I knew that these would be collectors one day. I would have kept them, but I was 9 at the time these came out and I tore them up.
I agree with just about everything you said in the review, except for a minor nit pick about the helmet on the Thunder Megazord mode. I never really thought of it as being anything too big or fat, mostly because I convinced myself that hey, it's a helmet over a head, not his actual head, and with the way that the Red Dragon is pretty much wearing the rest of the assault team like a hefty/bulky suit of armor anyways, it just sort of adds to the picture in my mind that "this is just a dude in a bulky set of armor, so a helmet a little on the bulkier side just goes along with the rest of the picture for the possible size and weight of the suit he's trying to lug around on him."
apparently Bandai of America will respond to anyone who has this version of the LTZ. I literally just left a voicemail and email to let them know I have this version. Apparently they will send the new knee parts so that it stands up better

Transformation and articulation shouldn't be too much to ask for, especially at $200. Transformers cost a fraction of this figure and often have lots of articulation. That said, it's once nice-looking set and great video!
Bora Chreng The difference between Transformers and PR Legacy is the amount of diecast and paint. But I agree that they should be learning from their competition and making better articulated toys with fewer loose pieces by now.

One thing you can do better with the tiger combination, if you turn the fire bird handle around so the half circle pieces fit around the circle spot on the tiger arms just above the hands (the circle parts where the tiger feet pivot) it fits better
Bandai America fixed the lean problem with a number you call to their complaint department and they'll send a replacement part for the silver pieces for the Unicorn and Griffin for new ones that have pegs on the bottoms of them that help prevent the megazord from leaning, as seen by MMPRtoys.

My character made it till after lost galaxy. The ray of zordon hit him and cause him to age slow. He was like 14 in mmpr and today he is about 26
Pretty impressive for a 8 year old
While I do not own these toys personally, judging from how they looked in the video, I think the reason that the Thunderbird wasn't staying on is because you had the piece in the Tigerzords hand backwards. The round bits looked like they fit around the hinges on the Tiger Mode claws
ah, a zord based off my favorite season of mmpr and My favorite sentai.
Real shame they never made a thunder zord version of the green dragonzords. Would have been epic to see it evolve into a European style dragon as alternate combination for red dragon, or as a ultra zord for all
White Tigerzord took that chance away.

Im glad I waited for your review before I decided to get this guy. I am definitely going to wait for a sale or mark down now for sure since I definitely dont see it being worth the full $200.
You've got the Firebird piece for the Mega Tigerzord on backwards. That's why you're have so much trouble with it.
I had that toy when i was little , the main difference is on the joints of the dragon every thing else look the same.
The Thunderzords were never my favorite, but the Ninjazords and Shogunzords definitely.

The asking price for all of this is not worth the frustration of how wobbly and incorrect some of these are. For ex., the bird is suppose to wrap around the tigerzord's arm, not held separately.
Even the original only held onto it, but it did it in a much more secure way. The Firebird feet clipped into the opening in the hand. But this version doesn't have the feet at all, even though it sometimes did in the show.
This is pure junk for $200. The original ones while were not perfect that were a lot more secure and sturdy
I think he should have a bit more articulation to be a bit more acurate but he is still really cool
We always hope for more articulation. We did get a little more, which is good, but it seems like they COULD get more if they really tried. Maybe Hasbro will manage it eventually.
the original deluxe thunder megazord, it is possible to put in 2cm tiny power rangers figures into the green dome of the thunder megazord.
Really want to buy this set but unfortunately I only found one in Australia. I live in the Netherlands and they dont ship to my country atm due to corona..

I got the Thunder Megazord back in the mid 90s. I could never keep the Firebird skirt or Lion chestplate to stay on. They always felt flimsily attached and fell off easily. Did anyone else have this issue back then?
No, but I had trouble getting the feet off of the Firebird if I attached it for Tigerzord mode. I think there were some QC issues that went both ways, some loose and some too tight.
For some reason the green dome cockpit on mine got loose hinges quickly, and wouldn't stay closed when in Megazord mode.
You mistransformed the red dragonzord. His backpack should be folded up and the one elbow was slacking for combined mode making him wobbly.
Looks much nicer than the original toy, but I still wish it had more articulation. That's always been a thing for me. No way I could afford the $200 price tag, and honestly I don't think its really worth that much.
+OzzieAstaroth I'm waiting till the price drops to at least $100. Cuz to me it looks like it's worth half the price it is right now.

That "arrow piece" was the Red dragon thunderzord's tail for when it's in dragon mode

I think you had forgotten to fold up red dragon thunderzord back panel, it shouldn't be left like just shown in the video
Yeah, he talks about it getting in the way and having to move it but he didn't do it right.
DosmRider wanna hear a story "in 1994 I purchase the original "mighty morphin" thunder megazord but it got old & the red dragon thunderzord got broke so when I heard the "Legacy thunder megazord" was coming I saved my b-day money & purchased it right off the bat & kept in boxed as a collector

Right now, I'm really liking thee original Mega Tigerzord better over the legacy. version. The Thunderzords are my favorite too by the way! So far, thee only thing I'm really liking of all the Legacy series, are the paint jobs!
I had the original red dragon zord/thunder zord assault team toys and I loved them, but not only could I never get red dragon's tail to stay on, but when I formed the megazord, my firebird kept falling off. I don't know if my clips were broken or what, but the freaking bird wouldn't stay on. Eventually I just gave up and didn't really play with firebird.

When I was a kid my father bought me the original Super Zeo Megazord brand new in the toy shop for $50ish bucks
The bottom jaw goes under the head while transformed into megazord mode. You left it down in front of the tail piece.
It doesn't work that way on this version. I've tried it and there's no room. It did that on the original but not this one.

Youre putting the weapons on incorrectly, for the staff with the firebird tail on thundermegazord, just have him hold the middle part, also for the thundermegazord's samurai sword, have the chain on the outside, clip it on the belt then wrap the chain in. Furthermore for the tigermegazord, have the extra black piece flipped over so that the curves match and clip onto whitetigerzord's arm/wrist things (they are shaped like circles), and then attach firebird. if you line it up correctly it should be stable and you'll be less frustrated. Hope you enjoy the toy as much as I do.
Thunder Megazord is cool but nothing can beat the original Megazord, would buy this one after i get the OG Megazord n Dragonzord

My only real complaint is that the leg guards have to be removed for Mega Tigerzord mode. I think they could have at least included somewhere to store them.

@@OtakuUnitedStudio Agreed! I mean, Bandai had already added the wing pegs to the Falconzord, for the Shogun Megazord, yet they never released it before Hasbro got the toy rights.
i think the japanese is different because they are called dairangers and in the series they started with the dragon until the four

There is one thing I'm wondering, because I only know the american Power Rangers releases of the show. Was the Staff from 12:05 used as a weapon in Super Sentai? I know, that the red Dragon Zord used the regular one as his finisher but if I remember correctly the Thundermegazord only used the Sword.
just quick question is there any sign of a tor the shuttle zord in the legacy line? I mean its great they got the megazord and the tigerzord but without tor cant make the thunder ultrazord

...and this is exactly why I will remain content with the original Thunderzords. A sexy, Dairanger accurate paint job just ain't enough to atone for all the flaws they have. And it certainly doesn't justify wtf Bandai America wanted to charge for this thing.
Good thing I paid less than half the initial asking price. I'm certain they KNEW they were asking way more than what it should have been but hoping the collector market would just pay whatever they said.

I loved the Thunder Megazord, the best of the whole lot. I think the original toy looks better than this one, the emerald on the chest is too small.
I always really liked that the original Thunder Megazord toy's chest gem was hollow and translucent, and if you looked closely (the color was pretty dark so it wasn't obvious at a glance) you could see the cockpit details inside.
I think they even included tiny little ranger figures you could sit inside if you opened it up, if I'm remembering right?

I totally love this new Thunder Megazord toy! I used to have the original DX Dairenoh set, and a lot of the body parts like the Red Dragon's horns, the Lion's chest emblem, and the Firebird's wings come off very easily after a few years. Even the Thunder Saber broke into half, and I had to sell the toy soon after. Not to forget that the stickers also started to peel on all the Zords, esp the Unicorn & Griffin.

Tigerzord is a fantastic improvement over the original, but the Assault Team's combination with it is quite a let down. Given I already have the originals, I'm glad I didn't pay 250 bucks for this.

the attention to details makes it very different from the knock offs
two things that will always bug me is that they called a giraffe, griffin its clearly a giraffe and the Phoenix, a Firebird. unicorn ill let slide cause i mean atleast pegusus and unicorn are the same kind of animal

Well griffin was actually meant to be kirin in the sentai if I'm not mistaken
It's not a giraffe, it's a kirin. While kirin is used as the modern Japanese name for the giraffe, it also refers to a mythical creature related to dragons.
