- Many indie authors have turned to--and found success--by listing on Kindle Unlimited, but like any publishing tool or platform, it has possible pros and cons for different authors.
Kindle Unlimited is Amazon's book subscription service, and hosts primarily indie titles. Its per-pages-read royalty system can be a huge benefit to authors in certain genres, while it doesn't do much for others. However, to list your book on Kindle Unlimited, you do need to grant Amazon exclusivity which means you can't distribute through other retailers.
Some authors have found so much success that Kindle Unlimited has been referred to as a 'publishing gold rush', so let's break down its pros and cons to see if it might be beneficial for you!

Some authors who write short books (in the short reads chart) are making more money from borrrows than sales in KU. One author, Hope Ford has written a book about that.

When I put my ebook on kindle select for 3 months, after I get ranked on amazon will that rank remain after 3 months? If I can do that then I can change it from free to let say $2.99 and with the high rank, I can start making money. Is this possible?
