There is no way I could live in that house with scorpions all around. No way, no how! Certainly the owners of this home were aware of this issue before they rented it to you. Shame on them for not disclosing this problem.
It might be better if she has her own guy. Being as she has all the Animals. If you have some Joe schmoe spraying Willie Nillie they could do more harm then good. I speak from experience. I am a licensed pest control operator. Not all are created equal. She especially will need to be careful with the birds and turtles. I have also seen cases where landscapers have killed dogs by spraying.
Scorpions are hard to get rid of . Hope it all works out ok..Do keep your doors closed.
Yup I have to rent too & I am putting it that way 'have to' Some people choose to rent over buying but I don't know anyone. It is usually not a good experience even if you pay premium prices. Most do lie or withhold the truth to get the money......once you sign the year lease; there's not much that can be done & you really don't want bad relations. I did get out of a lease once when I rented a townhouse with critters ( raccoons & others!) living in the walls plus black mold. I told the "wonderful " owners I was going to contact the Board of Health if they didn't sign off. Anyway they did let me out after about 3 months of H E double hockey sticks but what that meant was I had to move of coarse & more money out. It's hard to win when renting.

That is not a PT Cruiser. I have owned one for the past 10 years and I love it. Those scorpions are frightening and they can't be safe for you guys or the animals to live with. Good luck getting rid of them.

Oh Danni we built a house on a scorpion nest, we had about 40 trees a beautiful wooded lot, but we had scorpions everywhere’s in that house it was a living nightmare we did and tried everything to get rid of them, this house was my dream house, we sold it about 18 months after we moved in we couldn’t take it. And believe me it took us forever to sell it, I cannot believe you were not told about them, please be careful our neighbor had them also and he was highly allergic and went to the hospital several times!!! My husband just said to make sure you get your attic exterminated cause that is where they like to live. I’m so sorry your having to go through this horrible nightmare, been there!! Take care and be careful also check your shoes and bed!!!

OR, if you file long form and claim part of the rent for your business then you should be able to use pest control as a business expense.
Noah sounds like he’s been studying about scorpions. I didn’t know they glowed under black light. Glad to hear Noah says they aren’t a threat to land tortoises. I feel worried for the dogs 🥺🥺
I just read an article that deals with this. Someone else had the same problem and the solution offered was to set up a good lizard habitat in your yard. Provide a few damp shady areas with large rocks, big river rocks, on landscape drippers so the ground stays damp. Spray pesticides only around the perimeter and indoors if needed. It will take time but apparently the lizards will eat all the scorpions in sight.

That's one of the largest draw backs of living in the desert. I don't miss that at all. After your pest control comes out, walk around with your black light a grabber thingy and a 5 gallon n bucket. Pluck them, put them in the bucket and dispose of them. You will never be totally rid of them but the more you physically remove, the better. They climb the trees and access your roof, which is one of the main ways they get in your house. Make sure all your trees are trimmed away from your house.

One scorpion is one too many!!
I've never seen such an infestation of scorpions. You need to locate the nest(s). Spraying should get rid of them but you may have to spray on a regular basis to prevent their return. Look out for them coming into the house via sink and bathroom drains. A strainer in the drain hole should prevent this.

Those little scorpions would creep me out! Finding them inside would be unsettling. Hoping the spraying rids you of the problem. Jordan always finds some great clothes.

Dani, I was absolutely crying when I watched the end of your video with you guys going around the property with the black light. The owner of the house and the realtor should be taken to court. They both knew why that house was not rented for a while. They did not disclose all of the issues. People do the most terrible things for money. If that was me I would social media bash both of them. Especially the realtor. How could they have done that to you knowing that you had two children in the house with you?
I am so sad for you that you finally found an amazing house and this is how it turned out. I guess the old adage is true; if it’s too good to be true it’s not true.

Super strong hold hairspray works for the scorpions. It freezes them up and they can't move or breathe

The landlord should be responsible for the problem
It's the desert, the landlord would only be responsible for the house. Nothing you can really do about the outside, except dust for them. They are a native species. It comes with the territory.

Hi Danni. Scorpions like water, so they will hang out by citrus trees and water sources. They also have to have a food source, their favorite are crickets. With that many there, you probably have nests, any digging will bring them out. I'd spray regularly inside and outside and see if you can get your house sealed. I'm disappointed in your landlord for not disclosing the scorpians to you. In AZ it's required, I'm not sure about NV. Dogs are not immune to them, cats are. I'm not sure about tortoises. Your aquariums will attract them, they can sense water even in a tank. Bark scorpions are not good, especially the babies. I had them in 2 houses in AZ, I do not like them. I'm hoping you guys have a handle on them by now. Do not stop treating your home, once you start. They are the one thing I can not tolerate. I hope you guys can get them out of there so you can enjoy your home without the uninvited guests. Sending you guys big hugs. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I lived in LV for 20 years, you are the middle of desert. You’ll have critters of all kinds in and around your house out there. There’s no way to keep them out, even with pest control. Most scorpions are not deadly. It’s part of living in the desert.😃
I actually didn't find that there were that many... A little excessive, but not crazy. Looks manageable! And so easy to see with the blacklight - just enough for everyone and you'll all feel safe!

I know you said you are about 5 mins away from your old house. Were they a problem at your old place?
Also ....you can get food grade diatamaceous earth & spread it around for the scorpions. It works really well on getting rid of them. Sprinkle it on that brick wall and around your doorways (I put it in an empty baby powder bottle to help sprinkle it & put a good bit of it down at first.). It's finely crushed up seashells that attacks the outer skeleton of the bugs. Once bugs are under control, we just use it as a maintenance for them. But it will need to be redone after rain. No harm to pets or animals - we sprinkle it on dogs for fleas & sprinkle it under the animal food bins to control the weevils & bugs that like the animal food.
This is the best idea, I wouldn’t want to spray any chemicals around my animals. I used it to get rid of ants, it works beautifully on fleas. It is cheap to buy in bulk on line. The turtles can eat it in their food (food grade) for natural extra calcium.
Does it work on Ants? As I have a problem with them getting into my dogs bowls when I feed them outside!!

Orkin! They can help put up a perimeter around the house and deal with the outside. They can work with your animals. I know this to be true because my niece has a degree in entomology and works for Orkin and they are contracted by the local zoo to deal with pests. She concocts the killing brew. We can't forget we have authority over scorpions and serpents, as well. Let's all pray they leave your area! I have black widows around my place and I understand the fear factor and stress levels!! I'm soooo sorry.

I just read that Scorpions hate Lavender & CederWood Oil. Might be a pleasant deterrent for around your bed, in cabinets, bathroom. Any place you might be barefoot:) Not harmful to pets either.
she told us on monday cedarwood is bad for her birds but on friday she told us that Angel is going to get them by changing their exoskeleton basically killing them

It's a woodie! You've done really well st being picky th we last week or so Danni! I didn't know scorpion glow under blacklight... it does make them easier to find. We have the LED Bluetooth bulbs in our place that you can change color. I turn the living room to blue so I can see to go potty. But it's not so bright that it wakes Sam when I open the door. For peace of mind I think I'd use a blue bulb in all my rooms until it's under control. Good luck you guys... that's crazy. X I would think the landlords would have to pay for an infestation like that. In Maine they do... of course we don't have scorpions, but bedbugs or fleas... yeah. Okay everyone cringe and itch!!!

I love interesting kitchen timers. They’re useful for time management all over the house. I keep several around for doing chores and stuff like that. I think it’s somewhat of a common practice among declutterers. You could probably sell those in a lot.
Good for ADHD also, either to force us to do an unpleasant task for a few minutes, or snap us out of hyper focus before the whole day is passed!

My hubby in his younger days ..battled scorpion in the house they lived in west Texas !!
He said his mom and sister had pink and white carpet in their room and they never bothered them !! They don't like light color stuff!!
His brothers and his room had brown carpet and rugs and they were always in their room !! Always finding them !!
Note..have light rugs and carpet !!
Get guineas and or chickens !! Both eat bugs ..ticks and will eat scorpions !! Get just a few of each cause they love to roam in the fence area best !!

Try Borax laundry detergent. Sprinkle it around and the soap will eat their exoskeleton. Worked like a charm here for me in AZ.

I would say the car is a woody but also the first year PT Cruiser had an imitation woody version.
When I was a kid I found a small scorpion inside the house. It was on the wall in the bathroom. That's the only time I saw a scorpion in 46 years in Topanga.

Our Goodwill gives 15% off to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but their prices are so high it really doesn't make much of a difference unless you really want something!

Prices at our Goodwills have really gone up. It’s a shame for those who depend on bargain shopping to clothe their family.
It truly is a part of living in the desert and they love rock walls as the cracks & crevasses are cooler in the day time and they come out at night. Just curious if you ever looked for them outside at your old house at night or if you were completely unaware that they existed that much. Again they love rock walls so they should spray those areas heavily and then check again in a week after spraying, if still seeing them they should respray. Previous tenants probably never sprayed. Good luck!
