  • Touch can help so much to reduce anxiety and pain and promote a calm birthing environment. There are so many different types of touch during labor, including massage, double hip squeeze, knee press, counter-pressure, hot and cold and effleurage. What kind of touch did you like during labor or when you're in pain? Let me know in the comments down below!

    I really appreciate these informative videos! I’ve never been close to my sister, no contact with my mom, I don’t get to chat with my work friends at the warehouse, and my best friend is self-quarantining for my entire pregnancy. My husband is amazing but it’s so lonely to be pregnant for the first time without any women to talk to. Watching your videos make me feel much more confident about my little dude’s birth in September.

I was induced at 39 weeks and after 3 days i had my baby boy without any drug. I am so proud of me cz i never imagined to deliver without using any medication after being induced (thanks to my husband for the constant support). i would like to thank you for making these videos to help a lot of mom to be out there. Take care

I have had a pretty traumatic pregnancy suffering from many different health problems and having to stop working when I was 14 weeks along. I can’t thank you enough for this series - I’m nearly 36 weeks with #2 and this is all very helpful! In my first labour (drug-free) I never experienced the urge to push - not sure if it’s because baby was posterior or maybe it wasn’t time? Anyway, I would LOVE if you could make a video about the pushing stage - how do you know when to push; how hard or gentle should you push; should you let your contractions do the pushing? Thank you!! Xox

    With the sheet or towel or whatever, you can get that hip squeeze by crossing the ends and twisting them until the laboring person likes the pressure. It's also less effort to hold for either the laboring person or the support person. Great videos, sis! I've picked up lots of tools for my LDRP RN toolbox from you.

      I'm sorry everything going on has affected your plans for your birth. I so wish this pandemic thing would be over already. I hate how we don't know what's going to happen. But, the biggest thing I have learned about birth is that it itself is unpredictable. But what isn't unpredictable is the strength of the laboring person and the inherit hope that comes in the form of bringing new life into the world. I hope that even with the changes you are able to enjoy your unique and beautiful birth story! 💗

    • @Nurse_zabe
      @Nurse_zabe  Před 4 lety

      At my facility we are asking all mamas and support people to wear a mask when your healthcare provider is in the room. During labor, I am sure to give many of “masks breaks” when I step out. Honestly , mamas are reporting back that it’s not nearly as bad or difficult as they would have feared!

  • @tcdedancer5

    I love your channel! Your generosity and kindness in your videos is so reassuring and has really helped me overcome some of my fear and anxiety about birth. I was curious if you have ever helped any trans or gender-nonconforming individuals in their birthing processes? I know that the birth process in many settings can be unaccepting and unaffirming for many of these individuals and can be traumatizing for them in ways that it wouldn’t be for cisgendered women. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your beautiful work

    • @Nurse_zabe
      @Nurse_zabe  Před 4 lety +1

      I personally haven't helped any trans or gender-nonconforming individuals give birth, but from what I've read it can be a very intense and divisive process. Many chose to labor and deliver at home with a midwife for this reason. But birthing at home certainly isn't always safe or a good idea for each specific birthing person. So I think finding a supportive OB or midwife and having a birth plan detailing specifics such as pronouns and appropriate touch would be really important. 💗

      @Nurse_zabe  Před 4 lety +1

      If you are tired, sleep! I worked night shift with Mae and exclusively slept during the day. As your pregnancy progresses, sometimes your sleep at night isn’t as good because you’re moving around and waking up more, so a nap during the day could be great.

      Check on my "10 things your labor nurse wants you to know" video to hear everything I say about poop, but tr;dl your labor nurse doesn't care, we'll just wipe it away and pretend like it didn't happen.
