OMG, I love you so much. Never saw this bit before. Albert is one of my favorite comedian - actors. This is absolutely golden! It’s not very often you saw Johnny _genuinely_ crack up to that degree. This is genius. Pure genius. Thanks!
I remember seeing a clip of this from the 80's and 90's collection. Thanks for the full interview. Loved the Merv Griffin french vanilla ice cream Oooohhh impression.
Love to see Johnny almost crying at 9:23 and jumping out of his chair, having the time of his life, no host enjoyed having great comedians as guests as much as Johnny !!! 😂
What a brilliant interview. I tell my friends about this skit and they look at me like I'm nuts 👀 I used to watch Johnny all the time when I lived overseas. We didn't have lots of tv options, so my grandma would tape it and send giant boxes of American shows 💕
There are interviews where Albert talks about his Carson appearances. You should hear him talk about it. He worked very hard to make them special. Unfortunately, most of his early appearances are lost.
God. Think about it. Going on Carson as a return guest comedian back then would be the same as a HBO special today. Albert was phenomenal. It was always great seeing someone make Johnny laugh that hard.
I saw the trailer and was wondering if a lot of the "lost" performances are from Albert's own video tape collection. Very excited for this doc.@@jennifersman7990
And I am old enough (in my 70's) to have seen many of those lost performances. One that quickly comes to my mind is a bit where, like the jugglers on Ed Sullivan who had 10 plates and 10 poles and their trick was that they would, by the end of their act, get all 10 plates spinning on the tops of their individual poles. As he worked his way up to all ten, he would have to monitor the ones already spinning and sometimes have to quickly run back and forth, adding more speed to the previous plates to keep them spinning as he started on others. ANYWAY, Brooks comes out and does the same thing, except with 10 different people standing in a line and he announces that he is going to get all 10 people laughing AT THE SAME TIME. And, just like the well-known juggler that everyone had already seen, he starts with the first person - dropping his pants - and that person starts to laugh; the next in line and he slips on a banana peel and so on. As he reaches the 4th or 5th person, the first people begin to stop laughing, so he has to run back and "invent" new gags to keep the laughter going as he adds new people further down the line. And the icing on the cake was that he did it all to the familiar "Plate Spinning Tune" of the Sabre Dance. Oh, if I could only see that again!
That is hysterical. It would be great if they have tape on this bit in the documentary. If not, thanks for taking the time to share. So funny. So Albert. You may enjoy this: czcams.com/video/YoGiIdO3pyo/video.html @@luckyzert

I tried reversing it to see what got censored. Indeed the censored dialogue was played backwards... but it wasn't the same words. It just repeats "see a horse in a parade" and "parade do a". So unfortunately the dialogue is gone.
Albert has made his dad proud just be doing what Harry loved to do....making people smile....the Einstein blood is in his veins although he had to change his name.
Did you know that Albert's Real name is Albert Einstein? (he changed it for obvious reasons)! His Real brother is none other than the late Great "Super Dave Osbourne" (Bob Einstein)! I love both of these guys.
@@marionlomboy8217It's not, really. It would be no more ironic than a person named Tom Jones at birth mentioning the much better known Tom Jones in a conversation where that might be appropriate. If there is any irony here, maybe it's that he was named Albert Einstein in the first place. I mean, he was born shortly after the end of WWII. It's not like Albert Einstein wouldn't have been a well-known name at the time.
Here because Jon Stewart mentioned Albert Brooks and his impression kit as one of his favorite late night talk show appearances. Meh. His other favorites, Steve Martin’s Great Flydini is much funnier.
Too bad that those lacking laugh ability at Ewe-toob get to garble the wording of truly talented comic geniuses like Albert Brooks (at minute 12:29 et al) only to profit from this video nonetheless...
What a comedic mind to be able to come up with this hilarious bit. Never saw Carson laugh so hard.
Jesus, how is this 41 years ago.😢
The way Carson mimics the act with his emotion is fantastic, what a host

Curly was the best.
The bit about Albert Einstein not driving... That's his real name. Very clever.
Not only that. He was the voice of Nemo's dad in Finding Nemo and Finding Dory.

8:55 onwards, the next thirty seconds is sheer comic brilliance. Nobody is funny like this anymore.
Nobody was funny like that before then either. Albert Brooks was unique.
Great to see the whole segment. They used to show part of it on the anniversary shows.
This was ingenious!
You know you've done well when you can make Johnny leave his seat. I sure miss this this type of comedy.

HBO will be premiering a documentary on Albert’s career this November that’s got lots of rare performance clips

What an amazing concept. Impressions as prop comedy! Rave on, Albert.
They scrambled the words to avoid the public from getting the wrong image. Oh, what a time it was.
It was more to prevent problems with advertisers.

It is a shame that Albert's dad died when he still young and didn't get to see his son follow in his footsteps.

He's so handsome with that beard!
His Mr.Ed sounds like Christopher Loyd in”Taxi”.
Johnny's 'you are what you eat' line was good...
Some words were mysteriously distorted near the end. Weird
Probably a drug reference, the censors were fairly conservative because they feared losing advertisers.
Harry would have also loved Albert's "impression kit".…he would have been in the audience laughing harder than anyone.😊😊
Heaven Can Wait, Albert Brooks.
That was Defending Your Life with Meryl Streep
Sounds like they did some masking to cover something
PS - To me, the way his brain fires is very similar to Robin Williams'. Don’t ya think?
What’s up with the distortion at 3:14? Did they remove something, what did he say?
Back when television gave you that warm fuzzy comfort feeling
Never laughed so hard.

good tea!
It seems like they censored the word "acid", when he starts talking about the carpet.
I never knew Super Dave was his brother! He's actually named Albert Einstein!
And their father was a comedian known as "Parkyakarkus" who literally dropped dead after doing a monologue at a Friar's Club Roast dinner.
“NEMO!!!!!”

What's with the audio cuts when he says some "drug" or something like that?
Albert's father Harry would have been proud of him and Bob...also he likely knew most of the celebs Albert imitated in the video.😊😊
