- Weber Q Low Flame Fix. Weber Grill Low Flame, Regulator Replacement. Does your Weber Q Grill a have a low flame? Maybe It has regulator problems like mine did. Replace that propane regulator to get the flame back for your Webber Q. Weber Q grills, like all propane BBQ grills have a regulator that can go bad over time and may need to be replaced. In this video I show you how I fixed a Weber Q1000 by replacing Its original regulator with on that I found on Amazon. I also used a couple of brass fittings. I have made links for below for all 3 parts!
DON'T FORGET to try the simple fixes first like cleaning out the burner tube with air, physically cleaning the little holes with a paper clip and hot soapy water and a brush. If these solutions do not work it might be the regulator.
Here is a summery of the fitting sizes from the grill and the video.
The valve on the grill is 1/8” male. The hex fittings used is 1/8” female to 1/4” male. The regulator is 1/4” female in and 1/4” female out. The 1Lb gas bottle adapter is 1/4” male to 1” bottle adapter.
Also, the 5 pound propane tank in the video is awesome! Here is a link amzn.to/3IFJH4S

Thanks, this past week we were camping and had invited friends to dinner with us. My Weber Q2200 grill worked when we got to the campground but then stopped working. I used my Weber Go-Any-Where grill and an electric frying pan.
When I checked out my regulator and valve, they had oil dripping out of them. I think they sell an inline filter somewhere.
Strange, maybe some contaminated propane?
Keep helping the regular guy around the house👍🏼😜
So I just applied this fix to my Weber grill and it worked great, thanks!
Awesome, another one working again! Happy grilling and thanks for watching!
Great video Fred! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watch’n!
Awesome video!!
Great videos!
Thank You!!👍
thanks... I am in process of replacing the regulator on my Baby Q 100. When using propane tanks, newer designs have the regulator connected direct to the propane tank, so the hose going to the burner tube is low pressure. The old style adapter hoses are high pressure hoses - as they age they have a higher risk of a leak and fire; can be very scary when you are inside paring your meal and you hear an explosion outside.
You are not supposed to leave the grill unattended ! Always safety while cooking with pressurized gas ! Imagine a Acetylene and Oxygen welding setup , guy decided to get a beer 🍺 from the refrigerator in the house , left the torch lit ! Only be a minute !!! BOOM 💥 😊
Parts on order, Thanks!
Thanks 👍
Thank you for the video Fred! When I’m using the small Colman propane tanks the regulator and tank started to freeze. I lowered the PSI but the flame would go out. Would you recommend using the bigger propane tanks or am I doing something wrong?
I use the hose and larger tank more often than the small tanks. Here in Las Vegas it’s very dry so I don’t get the frosting. It seems like humidity plays a part as well.
These are really great videos.
What should the regulator be set to when installing the 1lb tank? When I set this up using this method, when turning the Weber’s valve to on, I could hear the sound of liquid spraying. No leaks in the valve assembly. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the views! I love the 5lb tank by the way, so handy!. After I dial it in, the adjustable regulator is usually in the same position most of the time just over 1/2. Sometimes I bump it up to burn off the grates.
@@MrFredsDIY got it working and wow! Finally passed 550 for the first time ever. Thanks so much! Subbed!
Make sure you start with it in the closed position ! Counter clockwise , then open it approximately 3/4 turn !
My one pound Coleman tanks works great on my Webber Q . But when I hook my 20lb propane tank to it I get a very low flame . I even try to turn it on very slowly . It worked fine last year . I exchanged the older tanks for newer blue Rhino tanks . Any tips ? TIA
You may need a new regulator and hose assembly ! They don’t last forever , check the level of the propane in the tank . It could be in bypass mode , disconnect the regulator hose from the propane tank and put it back on in a couple of minutes ! Open the valve slowly and open it all the way . Turn flame 🔥 level adjustment knob to the high setting and press the Ignitor button and it should light right up ! If it still don’t work ! Replacement of the regulator is needed .
keep in mind don't tighten the side with the valve too much because you then run out of room for the knob to fit unless you move the red knob to a higher rotational position instead of side by side. However, I would have prefered you link the newer video as the newer conversion is better and cheaper ( The regulator itself is $18 but the regulator on a hose is $14) and for most people who use only the larger tank, the newer method is better overall. I see in the new video this regulator you put in has already failed in a year?? If so it would be faster and cheaper to buy a new hose.
Thanks for taking the time to comment! I do prefer the hose and regulator combo. Also, the non-hose regulator did not fail, we made this video to show an alternative regulator hose combination because the other regulators are getting difficult to source.
Cant you just reuse the fittings off the old regulator? The hex bushing and tank adapter?
Good afternoon sir, what about when hooked up to an RV? Could it be just a plugged line?
My understanding is that most grills like these struggle when connected to an RV due to the lower pressure, but you have me wondering now!
Tried this on my Weber Q1200 but the regulator keep locking when turning gas tank on. Any idea what can be the problem?
I do have same problem Low Flame. I bought hose whit regulator but couldn't adjust flame correctly (much flame) Can u send me link where to buy fittings and regulator??? I do not see it over here. Thanks (also bought original regulator few times always goes bad. Shame on weber)
This is great 👍
Does it work for a baby Q as well? My baby Q flame is very low and it takes ages to heat and cook :(
Thanks
Yes it does , made my Q1200 get over 600 degrees Fahrenheit ! Keep the lid closed while it heats up for about 15 to 20 minutes . You want the grates hot !
That's a much stronger flame than what a 1 psi regulator will provide. It would be nice to know how much psi before the flame separate from the burner.
If you use the adjustable regulator from closed position open it approximately 3/4 of a turn ! And check the low flame position , then check it on the high position ! It should be pretty close to what you need .
Interesting. In the nordic countries, the valve is easily inerchangeable on the propane tanks. Much easier to replace.
Hmm. It's not much different here is it? Same issue with the regulator. But the valve on the bottle connection is easy to exchange.
Good video, but I’ve got a question I wonder if you can help with. I’ve got a Webber Q2000 But it runs on Butane Gas.
I know that Butane gas bottles and propane gas bottles require a different regulators on the bottles ( the large ones 40lbs).
My question is this - if the regulator on my Q2000 bbq itself has failed, could I use the same type of regulator you have or would it need a different one?
If you’ve got any ideas, that would be great.
Thanks for watching! I am not familiar with the butane versions of these grills.
Many thanks for the reply anyway - much appreciated
I believe there's a mistake in the video description (on both videos), 'valve on the grill is 3/8” male. The hex fittings used is 3/8” female to 1/4” male.'
The corrected text should be, 'valve on the grill is 1/8” male. The hex fittings used is 1/8” female to 1/4 male.'
Appreciate the heads up on the typos and thanks for watching!
thank you glad i seen this i almost orgered the wrong one, thanks again.
@@MrFredsDIY you should re up load this with the correct size
@@ScottysBackYardBBQ the video is correct. It was the description that had an error. The description is accurate now. Thanks for watching!
@@MrFredsDIY thank you so much.
This is confusing, is 3/8 or 1/8 adpaters?

Fix that old WeberQ! This little grill works great!
The current supply issues that are affecting almost every industries are also affecting the regulator from this video. I am working on a new supplier and I will post a link as soon as possible.

Okay, so I made this regulator build for my son's weber. Yes, the original regulator was bad. I have his grill hooked up to a 20 pound tank. When I got everything hooked up, turned on the gas, and the flame kept going out due to too much gas pressure. I had to turn the gas pressure back at the regulator to find that sweet spot where it would stay light, with good flame.
Did you have that issue??
I'm going to made this regulator build for my weber grill. The regulator on mine is still ok, but has this low flame going on.
Finding the sweet spot is the trick. We use the WebberQ quite often and I guess I’m just used to the knobs now. I even use this to warm English muffins when we’re camping. I can dial it down that low or I can turn it up high to sear meat. Im working on a video for a quick connect system to use with my sons camper. That video should be coming in the next several weeks.
Try approximately 3/4 turn open ! Should be pretty close .
Who makes the regulator that you show in your video
This regulator is getting hard to find! I have currently tried to source it from two new suppliers and I will be posting a link ASAP. Thanks for watching!

REGULATORS!!!!! 😁👍🎵🎼🎶🔊
Mount up!
Just bought a Q1200. Low flame out of the box! Took 12 minutes just to get to 400 degrees. I can get our Kamado Joe to 500 faster than that.
Weber really needs to address their inferior regulators! It’s the internals of the regulators that are the problem. My guess on a new regulator with this issue is that there is probably debris inside from the manufacturing facility or it was put together incorrectly.
@@MrFredsDIY Knew something waas up from the get-go. Weber Support gave me excuses so I started to research and found your vid. It's what I suspected. Thanks, your exact parts are now on order!
