Dear Sir, My truck camper's entire propane system went down. I watched several youtube videos suggesting I take this apart and replace that, and then I watched you. My problem was so easily solved because of your advice. Thank you very much. You saved me a ton of labor and money.
This is the 1st i have heard this, and i have to say this gentleman just save my new grill from being thrown in the yard and being put out of its misery.took 1 minute to fix.thank you so much!
Yep! I've been bleeding my line every time I shut down the grill. It seamed like the logical thing to do. Now I need to reset, and do the correct shutdown procedure from now on. Thank you. Well done.
Amazing! Last night, I ran out of propane while pre-heating my grill. Swapped the spare and nothing. Thought it was the weather (snowstorm) and brought the tank inside to warm. Even tried a hair dryer on low. Nothing! Today, even though the grill was covered in 8 inches of snow overnight, your fix solved the problem. Can't believe I never heard of this before. Many thanks Mr. Dixon.
It is great to see a real pro explain this. I'm incredibly grateful for your detailed explanation. Solved my low pressure problem and now it won't happen again. Thank you!
Good grief! You are a life saver! I've been putting off 'fixing' my BBQ for 6 months now, thinking it was going to be a 4 hour intense project of looking for leaking lines and blockages, disassembling and then maybe giving up and getting a new BBQ. In about 90 seconds I tried the regulator reset...and opened the valve s l o w l y this time. BINGO! Full flames are back baby! THANK YOU!
Thanks! This happened for the first time when I changed the tank, after 5 years and many tank changes. Sometimes I "burped" it but never opened the valve very slowly as you directed her but no problem until today, and your advice worked like a charm!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate this information! Finally an explanation that makes sense logically so I can remember -- fast flow cutoff safety valve.
Thank you so much, trying to cook for a graduation party and stove acted up. Tried several tanks and issued never changed. Luckily we checked this first before buying a new one. You brought magic to our cooking. Much thank you for sharing this information with us.
just what I needed. I've had this happen many times over the years and by sheer luck of taking the tank on and off finally got it working. Now I know the issue. Something worth noting. I live someplace that gets cold in the winter months and this issue seems worse in cold months. Meaning I think it takes longer for that "Slam" valve to open again when it is 10 degrees outside. I can say this issue is common when people change tanks because they generally let there LP run out, and just pull the old tank off and try to reignite the new tank without all the turning off of burners.
great information....got a propane BBQ after so many years of using NG and didn't realize the regulators have built it shut off valves. Didn't realize it was so complicated. Thanks for the information
Thank you Duff. Watched three other videos previously. None of their advice worked. This worked ... it's my 20th wedding anniversary and I needed my grill. Thanks for helping it to happen.
You sir are my hero. I'd watched numerous videos and tried numerous times to fix the low flow problem but this is the only one that worked for me. I was about to throw my 9 month old weber spirit in the trash!
This is excellent Duff!! I have thrown out many a good propane hose believing the regulator was the problem. I strongly suggest the manufacturers should put a note on each hose to instruct possible problems of low pressure and the solution. Keep up the great work Duff
Thank you Mr. Dixon--- the issue is truly vexing, and for those of us who purchase used propane equipment WITHOUT INSTRUCTIONS, the low flow issue is turns a cookout into a truly frustrating experience. I was prepared to purchase a new table top Weber grill, and then I fortunately found your youtube presentation. Weber corporation should make your video REQUIRED viewing. Very gratefully, James
This video is very well done. It had a thorough explanation of the system function, and it had the two steps required to minimize triggering the "low flow" function. Open the valve "painfully slow" and leave the low pressure section of the hose full of gas.
OMG. You just saved my dinner while camping! I was cursing, stressing, worried what we would do for dinner. And bam! Cooking with fire again! Thank you!
Thank you. I'm have an issue and I thought it was water from rain in the grill. I'll give this a try. Just came back in and yep, it's working just fine now. I've got a small portable Coleman grill because it's only my wife and I. the valve is different on the adaptor but the idea definitely worked. Thanks
OMG! Who knows how many years I’ve wondered about this... probably the same number of years since they introduced this style of regulator. I was just about to take the fuel system of my grill apart... Thank you!
Your video saved me at least a few hundreds on a new bbq. The comment "turn the valve open painfully slow for the first quarter turn" was the solution in fixing the low flow issue of my bbq. Thanks!
Thanks for explaining both the problem and the solution. My issue has been on a propane space heater. Nothing to shut off on the heater itself. But opening the tank valve "painfully slowly" at first, until hearing the faint click inside the regulator, has solved the low-heat issue. Cheers!
Cooking the world's best grilled chicken tonight, when I had to change the tank. Second tank made only minimum flame (200 degrees F), and sent me to research cleaning my venturi tubes, where to buy a cleaning brush, etc. Luckily, I found your AWESOME video, and the process worked in seconds!!! And I didn't have to finish my chicken in the oven! THANK YOU!
Hay,it worked. Thanks! I put a new tank of PP on grill yesterday and could not get the gas to work.I got up today and did what you said and it worked. Thanks a million.
The guy in this video is the best!!!! Not only did he have "the fix", but he had "the why" this is happening. Really, really good info, and he presented in a clear manner and he got right to the point.
You are awesome. Almost went to lows and got a new regulator. Did exactly what you recommended and my stove works again. I love you tube. My new religion:)
This man is a hero. Easy to understand and helpful, thank you! what happens if after following your directions, still having low flow? i replaced the “old” style reg on 60k propane torpedo mr heater with new style lp reg and even after trying everything it still restricts flow and barely putting out flame
Common since prevailed .I connected regulator 1/4 turn the gas tank as instructed and I am back to full flame, Thank you ,almost started a major disassemble project
A few years ago, my grill would shut off completely. Finally I got someone who told me to do the valves in the order you specify. Voila! Never had a problem since!
Thank you ! I’ve been telling people in our BBQ group and it has been helping a lot of people to get back to grilling again . Thank you for the Video . Weber Grills even says the same thing but it isn’t a video !
Isn''t this video awesome? I've got it accidentally bookmarked and I keep seeing it helping... Got me all hip to a situation that was gonna be bad without the answer too!
I threw out my old regulator and hose when I saw it had cracks all over the hose . Now it went from yellow and orange flames to blue like it is supposed to have . Thanks for the video and information on resetting the regulator , Weber Grills had the same information on resetting the regulator in the included manual , too many people don't read the instruction manual and wonder why they have problems . I learned after trying to assemble a 4 burner gas grill with my buddy , we were drinking beer and decided to put it together . 😄 Finally had to disassemble it and read the instructions and get it together properly ! 😂👍
Don't you think the morons that manufacture and sell LP appliances should do more to spread this message? Apparently they like nuisance calls to customer service and people returning "defective" products. Thanks for the great video. And here I thought I knew everything. :)
Great explanation but it would have been better still to have demonstrated this by attaching the regulator to the tank and then doing the slow quarter turn followed by turning the tank knob open at regular speed. The Weber web site explained this in a video and it was a great help.
Great video, thanks for all the information. Best CZcams video I've seen in a long while. He doesn't go on and on about likes, subscribe and useless information!
Who's here because you're on your 5th video on this subject and none of the previous videos got your grill working?
Dear Sir,
My truck camper's entire propane system went down. I watched several youtube videos suggesting I take this apart and replace that, and then I watched you. My problem was so easily solved because of your advice. Thank you very much. You saved me a ton of labor and money.
I replaced 2 regulators back in the day at different times before i saw this a few years ago. Why doesnt anyone know this??! Thank you again sir!!
This is the 1st i have heard this, and i have to say this gentleman just save my new grill from being thrown in the yard and being put out of its misery.took 1 minute to fix.thank you so much!

great work Duff easy instructions rectified my low-flow!
Thanks! This happened for the first time when I changed the tank, after 5 years and many tank changes. Sometimes I "burped" it but never opened the valve very slowly as you directed her but no problem until today, and your advice worked like a charm!
I have sent this video to our entire Boy Scout troop. Thank you!
May want to include there’s a excess flow valve built into the opd valve as well
Thanks for the tutorial. Fixed my problem in a minute!
Thanks! I was about ready to take everything apart and start replacing parts - tried this... all good now. Thanks again.
That has to be the BEST explanation I've seen on Regulators. Thank you
Excellent instructions! Fixed my problem of having the burners on when I opened the tank!
Worked like a charm. Hadn't realized the bleeding of the lines was the "old" way. Thanks for the info, saved my night.
WOW, That just took 5 years of stress out of my life haha THanks Buddy!
Wished I had seen this 3 years ago. Great explanation on the workings of the regulator. You taught this old dog a new trick. Thanks!
Thank you, follow his instructions the problem went away. Never know about the first quarter turn. Worked for me! Thanks
8 years after, and I watch this just now. It's info help me with this same problem I had with my BBQ. TY
Thank you Jeff Goldblum...I didn’t know you were selling propane and propane accessories!
Thank you for taking the time to explain. With his knowledge, i was able to work through my BBQ low flame problem.
Thank you for the detailed explanation!
This happened last night. I did not google grills are how to fix issue but this was on my feed this morning. They are watching!
Just followed your steps...THANKS!! You saved my dinner!!!!
Excellent explanation. I knew this could happen, but never was told how to reset it. Thank You. I like the cut-away of the tank to.

Perfect. This was the solution I was looking for. My grill now gets to a high temperature.

That is exactly what was going on with mine. I was shopping for a rebuilding kit. When I ran across your video, THANK YOU SO MUCH !

At this time you are a voice from the past. Best explanation EVER now I can learn to cook on a grill.
Cooking the world's best grilled chicken tonight, when I had to change the tank. Weber says it in the owner’s manual . But , people are too lazy to read through it ! 😊
You just saved me some money! Thank you.

Just did this, and it fixed the issue on my Weber! Thanks!
Great video. I learned a lot from it. Thanks. Love your films BTW
Great info. Thank you !
Eric Williams Mps is
Great explanation but it would have been better still to have demonstrated this by attaching the regulator to the tank and then doing the slow quarter turn followed by turning the tank knob open at regular speed. The Weber web site explained this in a video and it was a great help.
This dude is THE MAN!!! Spot on!
