Someone actually thought that disappearing water against the foundation would keep the basement dry. It did the opposite and caused a river to run through the basement!
They give water a place to settle until it can drain. Which is why you use underground drain pipes to divert away, also water flows through that gutter doesn't help
French Drain is primarily for subsurface water bro, and the main problem here is surface water holding to the side of the house because of improper landscaping. Sure French Drain would probably work, but it would be pretty scummy to tell a homeowner to shell out for a FD system when all they need some packed clay.
Viewers, the original builders should have installed a pipe UNDER the concrete to the other side. The concrete acts like this new thing called a "dam".....
@@phillycheesetake ya it's a good thing water won't run between the clay and the house. Maybe they should have fixed the actual problem instead of lying to the client that they fixed the problem. It's a bad bandaid
@@bobjones3069 Yeah, you're right, water won't run between the clay and the house, because the clay is sloping AWAY from the foundation. So the water will hit the clay, and run AWAY from the foundation. The miniscule amount of water which sprays the wall in a blowing gale, and runs down the seam at the flow rate the seam can support, is very unlikely to cause problems. But if there are problems, I'm sure the client will let them know about it.
Thanks for your videos! I'm a layman using clay to correct grading issues at home, but I'd read that piling it so high it touches the brick will eventually damage them. If that's not true, it would make my project easier.
Would this amount a slope be enough to direct water away from the house and with the driveway there wouldn't it just keep the water in that area anyway? I'd have the area either made into a sidewalk with a slight slope to the driveway and/or run all downspouts to the driveway and maybe add another between the windows just to help drain the gutter. AM I wrong? Please advise.
Great work, man. Before and afters are good, but pictures of the work as you narrate. We don't secrets just some "during" pics. Thanks again hope to see more of your great work here on YT!
"Don't tell my competition that water flows downhill." LMAO !!
Haha Sheena
To that I drink, also I won't tell :D
From faulty-drain to no-drain
lol. It's amazing that some contractors seem to think rocks just "drain" the water. Good work sir!

Idk, I think calling the previous job a ‘drainage system’ is a little too generous. Closer to a retention system honestly.
Love from Raleigh brother! You’ve taught me enough for a lifetime.
👍👍 thank you!
Digging it out and putting in a proper French drain was out of the question, I suppose.
This is Gates City Foundation. I think he's got this.
He uses PVC he doesn't know much
@Brian-qi2qt That you FDM?? 😂
@@Brian-qi2qt You use corrugated? thats the worst of the worst.

It's so wild how people can be paid to make these mistakes...
Exactly give us professionals bad reputation..
What about the down spout that's dumping right on the foundation 😭😭😭😭
Only dumps water when it's raining so its good every other day
it's dumping on a driveway, which presumably takes it in the opposite direction from the foundation
Prob needs a better barrier. Polishing a turd temporarily most likely there.
I don’t think the competition is worried
Clay is a barrier.

No.
Water flows down hill now? When did this start? 😂😂
Since end of 2023. Shocking!
Shhhhsh! Don't tell anyone Adam!
Is that enough slope?
Where do I buy Clay?
Your secret is safe with me.
👍👍
Where did you redirect that downspout? Did you use a French drain system? Or atleast a mole pipe away from the house
I need to do this. I stress every time it rains hard
So did all of my previous clients. It's never ending when it rains and you know things are flooding.
Are you in nj?
Thanks for your videos!

No protection on any of the brick?
yes, it's protected by clay and proper grade. There shouldn't be any water hanging against that brick.
Im sure clay and brick form a water tight seal with each other.
If the water doesn't pool up then it's fine. That's why it slopes away from the house
Well the homeowner will only have to deal with that when water begins flowing uphill.
Clever but still not a real fix. How about pouring concrete to the brick?
Will the outside concrete weigh damages the inside basement walls and cause more water leaking if you pour concrete?
Nice job, but if you leave that dirt piled up over the brick you just created a termite highway
This is simply amazing!
Path of least resistance
Indeed it isn't always "downhill".
Who knew that water flows down hill 😂😂😂😂
A landscaper will come out and dig an edge for that landscape bed so mulch or rock doesn’t wash out when it rains.

Sir Isaac Newton agrees
Indeed!
Covers up brick weep holes with clay... Brilliant.
There aren't weep holes on the foundation wall.

Ive always been curious though of how much water does flow down hill vs through the soil.
Why is that so hard to understand for 75% of the population?

Now it can flow over the sidewalk, and if it gets cold in this area..the ice will ruin the concrete 😢
The roof is draining into your house, extend the down spout....😢
😂😂
Thats not how that works
Awesome 👌 👏 👍
very similar to what I had years ago. I went with concrete to fix.
Yes clay sloping DOES drain away from foundation I'm just a homeowner and I know this trick
And?
Nuh uhhh! I'm smarter then u. I gradjuated top of my class at CZcams Uni AND WikiVersity. Wooder flows uphill. Yur wrong!
Hahah Jon!
I've got clay. Clay stays. Grass loves it too.
Clay is excellent for drainage solutions.
