1995 RCA DSS infomercial

This was the first infomercial for the then new RCA DSS (Digital Satellite System), it was first aired in 1995, it shows the early equipment along with the 2 content providers DirecTV and USSB (United States Satellite broadcasting). The source is a 1" C Format tape dub.

Back in 1999, DIRECTV merged with USSB into one programming service when it was absorbed in a merger and acquisition, and bought PrimeStar in its acqusition. But in this infomercial, this was why logos were seen in this infomercial then, and now DIRECTV is an AT&T Company. Dish Network is now a Blockbuster Company, which used to be known as EchoStar. And in the end, we see why logos are different, and now more TV Channels Cable Networks are on the air on DIRECTV and Dish Network.

@@sillygoose635 Actually Silly Goose 635, Blockbuster is not a company anymore, Blockbuster Entertainment was first under Aaron Spelling's ownership and unit in the mid 90's, and Aaron Spelling's own TV programs were folded into CBS Studios.

I remembered seeing directv at my local sears store in 1995-96. I really wanted to get a dish. I just recently got directv and now it's a complete piece of crap. I'd rather have spectrum cable tv or youtube tv. The quality and features on those are much better. And you get better content.
