      I was just going to say exactly the same thing. She needs to drop the rising inflection style of questioning. The Australians do it and it's very grating.

    • @chris1275cc
      @chris1275cc Pƙed 6 lety

      Do it! I built one from an old mid 90s Steel Saracen fame 1X10 (sunrace 14-38 and 38t oval up front) whole project cost less than ÂŁ200 and it's loads of fun to ride, my Ti road and CF MTB aren't getting a look in at the moment. Bit of advice if you do: get one of those cheap (and crappy) adjustable handlebar stems temperately so you can dial in the angle you need, once you're happy with it measure the angle and replace with a standard type.

    • @diamantisathanasopoulos1479
      @diamantisathanasopoulos1479 Pƙed 6 lety +2

      yes there is if you have to go a long distance. You have at least 3 different hand positions which releaves tension on the long rides plus the aero benefits, it adds up even if you don't notice it in a quick ride.

    • @borderlands6606
      @borderlands6606 Pƙed 6 lety

      The tourer-CX-MTB-adventure spectrum is in the eye of the beholder, which is why gravel bikes are already splintering into suspended, multi chain ring versions. Flat bars are just around the corner. It's nice that gravel bikes exist but they lack a specific place in bike taxonomy. The only novel factor is their vast sprocket capacity, which is a mixed blessing with a single ring. Unless you're long distance gravel racing, I can't see anything a hard tail, cyclo cross or touring bike couldn't cope with.

    It's a big question: if all these bikes are getting 2"+ tires, dropper posts, and suspension, why not just use a hardtail MTB? what even is the difference anymore?

    • @simongeeves9662
      @simongeeves9662 Pƙed 6 lety

      Helicase21, I agree. this whole genre has no idea what the F is going on. If you replaced the drop bars with a flat bar on a 2"+ suspension gravel bike and compared it to a hardtail MTB with drop bars, the same tires, the only measurable difference would be the front wheel suspended travel. The comments would be " man this hardtail has no front suspention travel but its so hardcore, ya gotta be on your game to appreciate the sublime handling, I love it" and then " this gravel bike has such plushness yet point it at any single track and it will devour it like a hungry wolf, what a perfect gravel machine when the road gets narly". What a joke

    • @simongeeves9662
      @simongeeves9662 Pƙed 6 lety +1

      OffEfOne When you say "we have the technology" are you talking about the company you work for or you and your friend? Or better still, are you looking for a sales/marketing job for a major bike brand?

      @offefone1669 Pƙed 6 lety +2

      We as a humankind, we have the capability and I have the capability to be a part of it creating, for example just seatposts. But just like we can cut normal cars emissions to half or farm more environmentally friendly vegetables, we can and absolutely should build bicycles that are optimized for every individuals needs.

      +OffEfOne
      Although I agree with what you say "we have the technology" and [we] "should build bicycles that are optimized for every individuals needs" I think the question being asked here is: Is this new tech or just a HT MTB's with drop bars? And if that is the case is it fair to call it progress when people have been building drop bar MTB'S/monster-cross bikes for decades?

    i'm an avid mountain biker but finding myself very attracted to gravel riding, DK / DR etc, thinking about converting my spare hardtail mtb to a gravel type bike by changing out the bars for the drop type, do you think it's worth the effort ?

      Absolutely, what have you got to lose?

    • @fernandoroman6494
      @fernandoroman6494 Pƙed 6 lety

      Yes, absolutely. Some of the bikes shown here were literally just that. Specially if its a bike that you dont ride that much anymore because maybe you have another, more aggressive, MTB. I personally would go for less knobby tires than one would normally run for MTB. The only thing to be aware of is compatibility of the MTB derailleurs with drop bar shifters. If its Sram exact actuation you are safe and only have to get the shifters. If its shimano you have a lot more research to do, might even need to buy new derailleurs or a pull ratio converter that Wolftooth makes.

    Are those enve rims tubeless? I'd assume no without the hook. Making a rim that isn't tubeless for gravel seems odd.

    • @envecompositesvideo
      @envecompositesvideo Pƙed 6 lety +2

      Gravel Cycling Yes, they are absolutely tubeless. In general, hookless rims are for tubeless use only. The wide hookless bead technology feature is to prevent pinch flats of the tubeless tire itself.

      Why don't you guys just say that more clearly? even on your website it says it one place (in the last sentence of the G25 'Full Details' page. Tubeless compatibility is a huge annoyance in gravel from tires to rims and you would do yourself a favor by being more clear about it. Nobody walks into shops asking for "hookless rims". #sheesh
