  • This is how I Powder coat some tumblers in the garage. And how I apply decals to the cups and using them as a stencil to leave a logo on the cup in stainless steel.

    What did you use to make your stand? I have something similar but having a hard getting the ground to work. I like how you used a washer (is that what it is?).

    Do you have a review on how to make that base that holds the tumblr while you are spraying? Or any pictures of it? Trying to figure out how I want to make mine.

    I have trouble with the vinyl shrinking when waiting for the powder to flow out. What vinyl do you use? Do you have any tips? Thanks for the video!

      Greg Allen yeah absolutely. I use Orcal 651 vinyl. You can also get high temp vinyl. When I’m doing decals. I watch it closely and as soon as it flows out ( maybe 2-3 minutes) I pull the cup. Let it cool down to about 125 and pull the decal. I have had my vinyl shrink on real small thin lines. I hope this helps.

    My adhesive from the vinyl stayed on the tumbler when I pulled the stencil off. 1) any tips for removing the adhesive but not the powder coat? 2) do you know why it did that?

    • @TheNutthouse1
      @TheNutthouse1  Před 4 lety +2

      You may have pulled it when it was to hot still. I try to pull mine when it’s between 110*-130*. But you should be able to use a magic eraser to help clean that up. You can also use acetone or denatured alcohol after it’s been fully cured.

    How did you do your ground? I think I have an issue with not having a good enough ground… I’m extremely new to this(only have done 2 pieces. I do horseshoe art). I know I have a ton to learn and any advice is welcome 😊. Great job on the cups man!

    I am just getting supplies for powder coating. I have been doing epoxy tumblers for about a year. What are the recommended temperatures for the oven?

    • @TheNutthouse1

      For most powders it’s about 400°

    I'm just getting my feet wet with this process, I'm wondering is it necessary to seal with Clear powder coating paint or can I leave as is and If you do have to seal does it make it shiny or will it be a matte finish?

    • @TheNutthouse1
      @TheNutthouse1  Před 4 lety

      No I used a gloss black. And it came out already shiny.

    • @RebeccaEscott

      The Nutthouse Okay so if I wanted a matte black I do not have to seal it? I can just leave as is correct? Thank you so much for your quick response.

    So how do you like that Kool Koat so far ? Finally ordering mine this week. And also , is there a place to order those tumblers or are they store bought ? Seems to be a lot of money involved being store bought

    • @TheNutthouse1
      @TheNutthouse1  Před 4 lety +1

      M Gears I really like the gun. I don’t seem to waste as much powder. As far as the cups go yes these are store bought because I got a really good deal on them. There is a place online that you can buy them from and they’re a little cheaper than the stores it’s stainlesssteeldepot.com and they seem to run pretty good deals cups between $6-$7 each. Now I know that’s not much different but it’s something.

      @TheNutthouse1  Před 4 lety +1

      Billyz Designz I use a silicone plug. I ordered the cup kit from Columbia Coatings. You get the stand and the plug. They make the plugs for different size cups so make sure you pick the one you plan on using. Yes got both sizes just in case.

    • @TheNutthouse1
      @TheNutthouse1  Před 2 lety +1

      On some of them yes and some I used a torch. Heat works better because it’s an even constant heat; we’re as the torch is faster but you can mess up the project also.
