- What do you think of the Jazz Cross star? Is this just one crossover too far?

So it turns out the Jazz has magic seats? Sorry everyone, looks like it’s even more practical than I first realised! In that case, is it THE most practical small hatch/crossover in this class?
Would this be your country's version of the Honda Fit here in the U.S., Tish? It seems similar in style and size (though I don't think there's a similar trim to this one here).
Yes Jazz/Fit is the same car.
I've got a Civic and am really impressed with the magic seats
I have a Crosstar. Overall, very good. The presenter failed to mention the cars great advantage, which is both rear seat bases can be lifted independently and locked against the back squab. This gives a quite large “bucket” space, either on one side, or right across the rear floor. Really useful for soft luggage, large shopping bags etc, and if just two people touring. I can’t get 60 mpg, though. On a run from Salisbury to Edinburgh, via the Peak District and the Dales, and the Cheviots on the return leg, we averaged 54.1 mpg in a loaded car. Otherwise, I get 55.8 mixed driving. One last point: if not leasing, I would uprate the suspension. Quite soggy when pushed.
@@Bombardier9011 yes I found the standard Jazz very soggy on a test drive
Better than Yaris cross
Once again another great review Tish. It's great that we get to see your reviews of different types of cars from a larger spectrum of car types. Not just super cars or budget options. Well done.
I drive the Crosstar and average 25k per annum, I do majority of motorway miles for business and as I have kept receipts and log my mileage for work I have been averaging 58mpg which I think is great as i'm not slow. At 5'9 tall and not petite I find it reasonable comfortable, i've long legs and could do with another 2 inches of leg room but overall it does the job. Also after avoiding the CarPlay thingy for last 2 years I have in the last few months got my head around it and it is brilliant, from listening to my audio books to alternative navigation options. Space, its a tardis, I always flip up the seat behind me and hang my clothes for the working week away, I have to say I love it - young 53 year old ;-)
Liked your review which is really gives a true picture of the Crosstar having owned one now for 2 years and love it. At first, I had to drive it around for joyrides as I thought the fuel gauge was not working. Absolutely marvelous on petrol. In fact love everything about it. I have only had Hondas since 1979 and appart from the Aerodeck 2.0, this Crosstar has to be up there somewhere in the top.
Jazz outshines even most expensive Sedans in terms of Cabin Space and practicality... This is my Favourite all time CAR ever !!! Love You :) Thanks for the Review. Waiting it to be launched in India
Fantastic car. Unbelievable space and comfort. A pleasure to drive.
Good review Tish!
The Jazz packaging is amazing, I reckon there is more rear legroom than a Skoda Superb! Yet it's still a small car to park.
another enjoyable video full of info and your personality! (even though I missed you starting at the back of the frame and walking forward as you introduce the car featured in the review!) That funny burst of Eminem made up for it :)
Hahahha it’s so funny you say that. People have complained about my ‘slow walk’ so I thought I would mix it up a bit!
It should really have the robust package installed by default. Otherwise I think it's a really nice car to drive. It's quiet for it's size, feels well built and it's quite fun. Not sure about the looks but honestly, that is not why you buy a Jazz. Got a Civic now but actually thinking about going for this. I like it more.
Great review 👍
Nice you show us around the car. As some reviews don't.
Thank you 😊
I'm just mesmerized by the ka-soprano voice for a reason or other, and can't get enough of that ka-voice
Great review as ever shame they're so hard to get now. My mate was lucky enough to buy one back in July.
Practical and roomy car given the class and I really like Honda's recent interiors. Really surprised you didn't demonstrate the magic seats! Great review as always.
Oh dear, everyone commenting about magic seats… I don’t think I knew they existed!
@@AutoSocialUK I wouldn't be concerned, people always mention the magic seats in the Honda Jazz but the amount of times people actually make use of it..... My wife has an old Jazz, never seen the magic in use :-)
@@AutoSocialUK never mind, every day is a school day! We have them in our Civic and have used them a few times for tall and bulky stuff. The way they fold up is also why there's a big space underneath them too, which has also come in useful when we have been fully loaded!
@Repario T Demario what a pleasant person you seem.
@@AutoSocialUK You have to check them out. They are unique!
Looks great in any colour including red
The baby blue is by far my favourite
We have had one of these for the past four months. Great car. Would not sell.
Jazz was always a preety good car.
And your videos are getting better by the minute 😉
No one can complain, it does exactly what it was designed to do! Thank you for watching and your support
I have always found the seating and drive was more comfortable than the others as I drive one because I get a bad back when driving Peugeots etc.
Best part of £25k. Including price at the start would be a good idea on future videos please
Are you doing new fiesta anytime soon, I’m trying to buy one but can’t seem to find any near me in Newcastle
The Jazz is no longer sold here in Australia which is a shame because they are a very practical and reliable car. I have owned a couple of previous models since 2004 as 3rd cars to use for guests when they visited from the UK for a few weeks. While I no longer have that requirement or no longer own a Jazz, the ownership and running cost experience was always good.
Well done of the Honda Press Car Tish 👏🏻 I had the chance to test a crosstar last year, practicality is good. The interior space is ideal for those of an older generation with dogs, those with a more active lifestyle (ramblers) or even as a town car to tootle the kids/grandkids around. Economy is good too but it really is cringe worthy when you get it up the revs 😬
Couldn’t agree with you more. You had it in the baby blue colour right? That one is my favourite colour! 💙
@@AutoSocialUK no, the one I had was black with the orange accents 😊, great colour combo, looks a completely different car in black.
Thanks for mentioning dogs. Considering buying this car but it needs to be dog friendly
@@lizziedripping71 the clever rear seats that Honda have in these and other models where you can lift the seat base up is super ideal too if you have a larger dog and gets muddy or wet they can go there rather than the boot or seats. Seats with the materials used are great too as they're water resistant/splash proof (never actually tested that though).
Another enjoyable Video Review. The Honda Jazz Crosstar Is not that popular In the UK as the Standard Model Is the best seller
I think it’s just hard to justify the price
How does this compare with the Toyota Yaris Cross?
For a boring Honda Jazz, this new one looks impressive. Very modern inside. another great review Tish. Your knocking them out of the park now.
the car is nice but the presenter is beautiful.
I'm so happy you agreed with your mum as in the thumbs nail I said that's nice.. and when you made the age joke🤣🤣
I actually didn’t realise how many times I referenced old people until I edited it 😬😬
@@AutoSocialUK 🤣🤣🤣
It does not have a cvt gear box, in fact it does not have a gear box at all. So not sure where you got the jerky gear box from. I had one a year now, best car i ever owned. Easy to drive, but i must admit it does scream when you put your foot down.
On the infotainment , you can customise big tiles and bottom tiles , so you can have the ones you use most close to hand . MPG, if i hypermile to work at 1am and no traffic on a 22 mile journey going around 27mph and feathering the throttle to kick in EV mode and using regen on hills and costing in drive, i have got 97MPH . On the way home rush hour and normal driving around 63MPH
Exactly. It's easy to get really amazing economy out of this car. She completely misses the fact that the car is ALWAYS running in electric motor mode. She also glossed over the drive assist modes, such as traffic jam assist, incredible lane keeping driving at motorway speeds, speed sign recognition with speed limit linked to that mode if activated. What's more the lane departure warning can be customised to be either intrusive or not depending on the settings chosen. Frankly, it's an amazing little car, and incredibly roomy for the category.
Subwoofer is typical for buget audio. In my car I do not have any carton box for low tones - I just have ... 19 speakers.
The highlight of my Saturday morning - the host, that is.
Are you sure it’s not the Honda Jazz?
@@AutoSocialUK it’s not as pretty 😊
Is this a Yaris Cross/Puma direct competitor..?? I have a Puma still want a Tonale though.
I would kind of say so. The lines are definitely blurred between these crossovers
Very well rounded car, though on the pricey side of a spectra, on the other hand, its screams value compared to Honda E.
I think the Jazz Crosstar would make sense with AWD (like any other crossover or any crossover themed vehicle).
For the Nannas that like off roading? 👵🏼
@@AutoSocialUK Yeah.
Don't be daft. Nobody utilizes AWD in a bloody Jazz.
@@ln5747 I’m not being daft. Plus, this is not really true. There is an AWD (or should I say, 4WD) version of the Jazz, but only for Japan. Japan even gets the Jazz (which is called the Fit in Japan) with the 109PS engine.
@@DaveDVideoMaker well yes but Japan suffers from a lot of snowfall etc so even elderly (majority Jazz customers) will require this. In the UK how many elderly require AWD really? I live an outdoor life and I virtually never require AWD.
Not the best looking small hatch but it is the best overall due to Honda build quality and customer service.
This would do well in the U.S if it had a bigger engine. Can at least seat real people in the back, unlike the corolla hatch for example.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts
I don’t think Honda advertise it as an off reader, in fact non of the SUV’s are off readers, they are all just road cars but just a little higher. Very few people are going to go off road with any suv. It’s all in the mind.
It doesn't really have a CVT gearbox, the engine runs a generator and that powers an electric motor, once over about 62 it locks the engine to the transmission, with just the fixed gear, very clever system, I think Honday call it an eCVT. I
No Spare ?
The Crosstar is a much nicer looking car than the standard Jazz. I would buy one before the standard one any day. On the standard EX you get faux leather dashboard and a heated steering wheel which you don’t get on the Crosstar. I live in Dublin and the Crosstar has only been introduced in the last couple of weeks. I imagine we will see a lot of them on the roads more so than the standard Jazz of which there are very few.
"On the standard EX you get faux leather dashboard and a heated steering wheel which you don’t get on the Crosstar."
That's not all you don't get on the Crosstar when compared to the EX, Dave. The EX has also blind spot information and cross traffic monitor, two things I really value.
Next to that you save almost £ 2k. But... for that money you get some Tupperware around, a louder stereo, a bit higher consumption and a bit smaller boot. 🤗
@@dickschuurman4684
Thank you for that Dick. In Ireland we might get a slightly lower spec due to our car tax regime. The higher spec on a car adds extra in a tax called Vehicle Registration Tax. Rip off !!!
@@daveb1433 They should rename it "Vehicle RIP Off Tax" because let's be honest that is what it is but then when have politicians ever been honest?
@@sharonec5419 brilliant Sharon👍🏻I’ll remember that at election time when they knock on my door.
It seems like the perfect car for a nan or pop.
#JazzCrosstar is such a nice car - alternative next upper class #HRVHybrid
Price ??
Why is not having USB c great?
Type c,only in front of the rear seats (2)!
India ma kab take lonche hoge.
And what about rust and painting quality?
I haven't heard of any problems?
Sits higher? You do understand 30mm is 3 cm?
I don't really like the new shape of the Honda Jazz. Reminds me of the ugly Fiat Multipla kinda. But great review as always.
Yer I kind of know what you mean, it has a cute little face but it looks a little sad!
That extra ground clearance if the deal for me...
I don't want a rear box I want a real spare and a real H/B.
Here in inodnesia, jazz no longer exist it is replaced by honda city
Does the City look similar?
Buying Jazz and shopping in Dobbies- life done. Retirement
Avoid letting the steering wheel go at the end of corners 🤓😇
25 grand, though. I'm sure it's very nice, but that's a lot of money for not a lot of car.
Realistically, it's an 18 grand car on a good day.
The Yaris Cross is also a hybrid, but a more advanced one. So it's more economical so I'd buy that instead.
Yeh..even more than 25k
To be nice, you do not know what you are talking about.
The back ground clearing this clip shows is misleading. It's the front that counts and that one seems puny. Obviously, most cars have lower gc in the front, but it is useless to show the back gc fimed from a convenient angle. It is bs.
Love the black over red scheme but it is one goofy lookin thing. Not as spaz as the Juke but licking the same windows.
Good car for a cool Nana.
There is so much politically wrong with this comment 😅
@@AutoSocialUK so is you Mum going to change from her VW to a Honda?
Gearbox?the Honda Jazz has no gearbox, driving with the two Electric motors and the perol engine most used for driving/charging the battery.(Honda Jazz crosstar 2024) Driver.
"No USBc which is great" ? What's wrong with USBc? It's the latest format.
I find it very frustrating as I never have a USBC available
Did you drive it to a garden centre or the bingo hall?
In India we have Honda WRV based on Jazz... A lot better looking... Honda has been selling them since 2017..
Interesting! I’ll look it up 😁
@@AutoSocialUK czcams.com/video/MOm11E9BjFs/video.html
For your reference 😊
What puts me off getting this car is the grey interior it will mark and stain very quickly it should of been given a black option
It is an ass choice but I guess that’s why they’ve made it water proof? I assume the idea is it will repel stains
@@AutoSocialUK true keep up the amazing work
The grey interior is actually a plus point for me. Better than the usual 'coal mine' dark black interiors.
@@richfixescars yea it’s different but to me it will mark easily and won’t keep the clean look
Think it's past its sell by date !
Did she mention the cinema style rear seats!?!? Yet not as practical as a VW 🤣
Practical in different ways, if you want more boot space, then a sliding rear bench is more practical
@@AutoSocialUK
But the flip up seat base in the Jazz, which was not shown, reveals a ton of useful space! You had plenty of head and leg room in there too.
Extra 3cm oh wow
Every little helps
I saw one of these in a local dealership and the grey interior still puts me off which is sad as I want the car but the grey cloth will stain mark and never get clean once marked
It's a strange car. I think the last model not only looked better but classier too. This one looks a bit dull and it's kind of like an MPV from the side view but CUV from other views. It's like it dies not know what it wants to be.
The design is just bad. It’s a shame as it’s a very very good car but they are just almost screaming at you it’s made for people who have given up. I think they should make it an EV smooth out the front end and you’ve got a very compelling small hatch EV.
no USB-C charger which is great ..... hahahahahaaaaaaaaa !
Tish, those jeans don't suit you !Great review though!
Love the jazz..hate the new Fugly face of the jazz, hate the stupid prices of hybrid..why pay stupid money for hybrid.. ridiculous..change the Fugly face, take off roof rails, bring down the prices, and I'm in..
I definitely see where you’re coming from and the prices have skyrocketed but on short journeys that hybrid engine really will save you money in the long run 🏃♀️
Get a life
