Misool Magic - Raja Ampat Liveaboard, Scuba Diving Indonesia

- This is Raja Ampat, and within this huge archipelago (that’s the same size as Switzerland!) is an area called Misool. And it is absolutely magic!
Raja Ampat is a collection of islands in the west Papua province of Indonesia. It is very remote and the South Island of raja Ampat is Misool and is even more remote. This scuba diving trip here is onboard the Benetta which is a traditional wooden Phinisi boat. All hand crafted out of wood by master Indonesian craftsman.
The scuba diving here in Raja Ampat is absolutely epic.
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such incredible diving. Period.
The magic of Misool is that it is a protected zone that’s patrolled by rangers. All thanks to Misool Eco resort and foundation which made arrangements with the local village to protect the area.
This means it is literally fish soup!

One question, what month were you in Raja Ampat? I'm looking at the weather on different websites, and it doesn't seem like it's going to be good, but rather the opposite.

I have been there many times. November - December seems good. January can also be good but not Misool. Misool is best from march -May.
Don’t got to raja Ampat July or August as it’s big waves and can be a lot of storms. Bad visibility under water too

Currents aren’t too strong in Misool. Depending where you go. And they are predictable so normally if you’re diving with a good operator you won’t see crazy ripping currently. I’ve never done a dodgy dive in Misool.

I have a wet lens. Macro and Wide angle. Can be changed underwater

Great movie. Heading to raja ampat to jump on a liveaboard next week. Can you bring a drone along through the airport and fly off the liveaboard recreationally without issues?
No issue in airports in my experience. But sometimes they can be funny with the battery. Just make sure it’s below the allowed Wattage. Most of them are. Some of the older drones don’t have the power rating on them. Bali airport is the worst for that.
I would recommend landing on the beach. Or if not possible land on the dingy/scotchy. I’ve been flying drones for 6 years and I still get scared landing on a moving boat. New drones are better because they don’t loose signal often. Pre-mavic 2 can get lost easy and if the boat moves you’re screwed. Enjoy!
