I just broke off an almost 7 year relationship over compatibility, and it was my first. It took a friend of mine asking the “what about ten years in the future” question that made me realize I was only putting off the short term pain of ending it. We had a conversation about it and she said everything else about me makes up for it, which feels like a crazy backhanded compliment.
