Hey Madden. ALL the muscle cars came from the 60's and 70's. With gas going crazy in the 80's plus the smog restrictions, there were no more true muscle cars. Thanks for sharing.

Thats a pretty good rule. I wish more people used that for their definition. Nowadays people call anything with a v8 a "muscle car" It makes me mad.

i think putting a box around what you see as a muscle car defeats the whole purpose of a muscle car. it creates an artificial scarcity that may increase the value of “true muscle cars” but in doing so also destroyed the opportunity for the next generation to enjoy the same kind of cheap real fun without breaking the bank.

Alot of the street racers back in the 50's and 60's ran 4 doors and just welded the back door shut because they are lighter and more often than not had the bigger engine option. Fir instance a 67 Ford Fairlane 2 door weighed 3462 lbs, a 67 Fairlane 4 door weighed 3193 lbs, that's almost 300 lbs lighter, a 64 Plymouth Valiant 2 door weighed 2832 lbs, a 64 Valiant 4 door weighed 2575 lbs, once again... almost 300 lbs lighter.

Back then the doors had to open and the headlights and tail/brake lights had to work and it had to have the stock grille in it on a Super Stocker.

Just lol since its funny to me how young car fans think "all RWD 2 doors were muscle cars" Mavericks and Falcons were just compact cars then, 302 with 2 barrel carb was top motor option. True muscle cars came from factory with high performance motors. The term you may be referring to is 'project car' that can be tuned to performance and be a restomod. Used to call them Street Machines or Hot Rods.
One other thing, learn the pronunciation of car names from the past. lol , :-) Keep up good work

I'm 50 years old and You couldn't be more wrong with what you said about what a "True" muscle car is. The Falcon GT and the Maverick GT WERE muscle cars, you do know that the Mustang, which is one of the 3 most ultimate muscle cars was based off the Falcon, Right? The BASE Mustang in 64 and 65 had a Inline 6 and the BIGGEST ENGINE they had was the 289, the 302 Falcon had a bigger engine, so I guess the 64 & 65 Mustangs are "Muscle Cars" either.... I bet your ones of those that say "They stopped building Muscle Cars in 1972" Yet the 73-77 Pontiac Grand Prix had the EXACT same 455 that came in 68 & 69 Firebird.... Naw dude, your wrong about EVERYTHING you said.

I agree with all of these, but I would be remised if I didn't add pretty much of the all Smog/Malaise cars, Which has become the "HOT" new build out here in West/Southwest, Yes I know.... a 75 Nova, 74 Thunderbird or 76 Duster isn't anyone's idea of a muscle muscle car but you can pick one up running and driving for under 5k. Literally EVERY car in my Car Club since the Dempanic and the CONvid "outbreak" has been a 73-78 from one of the Big 4 (AMC Included), why? because they're cheap, why go out and spent 15k on a 68 Nova when you can pay 2K for a 75 Nova when your just wanting something to tinker around with. My current daily driver is a 76 Olds Cutlass, why a 76 Olds Cutlass? Because I paid $2200 for it and drove it 50 miles home and after a deep cleaner it was good enough to daily drive as I worked on and it's aged out of the Smog Regulations which means I'm free to pretty much do what I want, I wanna bore it out and put crazy exhaust I can, IF I want to drop an LS in it, I can.

@@maddenmadness it's really the only way to see things, a cool Classic Muscle car is a cool Classic Muscle car no matter what year it is. The 73-78 are the last of the Classic Muscle Cars, yeah the Foxbody Mustang, IROC Camaro and the G-Bodies are Muscle cars too but to me a car that came with Fuel Injection and you need 2 million dollars worth of electronics readers isn't a classic, it's Modern Muscle, nothing wrong with that but it's not a classic. I know "any car older than 25 is a classic" no... it's not.... a 85 Olds Omega is NOT a classic car, a 98 Honda Civic is NOT a classic car......

Vo-lar-ray like the song by Frank Sinatra was one of the cars we cruise on the El Camino real in San Mateo California along with the first generation 69 Camaro there was a boat load of Chrysler Newports on the block , and you could fit half the neighborhood in one! I had a 73 Cadillac eldorado man I loved that car , FGS (fat girl suspension Cadillac called itself leveling!) I needed a permit to hunt dinosaur so to keep the tank full 502 cubic inch displacement . But it was like driving your living room couch down the boulevard man that hood went on forever those comments about they're not being any hot rods in the seventies yeah kind of sucked in California cuz they smog the hell out of everything but that didn't stop us ported and polished heads hotter ignitions and plugs aviation gas oh no that'd be cheating so was nos if you got caught bottle feeding you automatically lost we considered it cheating of course we'd have to detune everything every year to smog them there was nothing better than being on the block working on cars with your bud's.
My two current rides 2000 f150 4.2 l I believe 5 speed one wheel Wonder I still pulled a 13 second quarter mile in that thing , still working on Lucy I named her after Lucille Ball she's a sexy redhead that's got jokes, my latest acquisition one of my dream cars a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Daytona 500 edition with the supercharged 3800, her previous owner beat the hell out of her so she's a work in progress. I never thought I would have a hot rod front wheel drive car though it still seems weird? Love following you I found one of them little mustang 2 thinking of picking it up later this winter it needs everything floor pans rockers complete interior I don't know what's in the hood but if it ain't a 302 it's getting yanked I know it had an automatic that's going too keep up the good work young man I'm thoroughly enjoying your channel!
