I’m a Jeep man now, but my 1967 Mercury Cougar was my favorite car ever. Drove it from summer 1987 to summer 1991. The extra wheelbase made it a cornering beast.
I may have missed it, but is this before clear coat? I'm doing a garage paint job and after laying the base coat it's looking uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I personally wait till after clearcoat. i know of people who wet sand the base coat just don't know anything about it
I just painted my car too, first car as a diyer. How many clear coats did you spray? I did 2 and am afraid of wetsanding too much. Im gonna start at 2500 grit to 3000 just to be safe .
I did 3 coats of clear.
Great video, thanks!
Great job I just painted my truck with spray cans and 2K clear how long did you wait to wet sand and buff your car
Thanks! I waited about a month.
Drop A 1988 T bird turbo coupe 4 cylinder and you will ow the road
I would Love to see that. something other than a v8 is nice sometimes
I bought a 77 Cobra new. It was a great car. Fast? No. Fun? Yes.
In stock form, it's hot garbage. But the V8 models are a great platform for building a nice hot rod
The person who made/wrote/conceived this video obviously has an unhealthy addiction to crack, and should seek help forthwith. The Mustang II is the crappiest car on 4 tires ever built. Anyone can take a Pinto and slap shiny rims on it, which is what Ford did.
That a pretty good video young man. Great to see the younger generation loving their old cars.I was getting worried that it might die off.
Could a been better with a 351 4 barrel . Damn the EPA.
just sanded my car and there are still lots of sandpaper scratches. wish I knew this video first. but it's a lesson learned
Thank you so much for this very informative video. I recently used spray cans to paint rocker panels. I don't have the bumps. The paint is overall smooth but it doesn't have the gloss to match the rest of the car. A couple of questions: 1) Would 3000, compound, polish be sufficient to bring gloss without needing the lower grits since I don't have bumps? 2) What size compressor did you use?
If the paint's not that bad I'm sure a pass with 3,000 grit would be all thats needed for wet sanding (if it's needed at all) And i cant remember what size of compressor i used, but it was just a basic smaller compressor that broke shortly after paining the car.
Most bad ass car ever produced imo
thank you for a nice video man , I did followed your video and now my self painted car of mine looks much better now . thank you once again . ♥♥♥👍👍👍
Thanks for watching! glad i was able to help
How did u talk about and edit this vid...when u, yourself showed the article saying 11.5, but said 11.7 for the zl1??? Smdh
In 1960, the Dart was not a mid size car. It was full sized. All Dodges were full sized in 1960. In 1961 they came out with the Lancer, which was a compact car. In 1962, they made smaller Dodges and Plymouths and could be considered mid size - but it was determined to me a marketing error and they restyled again in 1963. If you think $6500 for a 1972 - 76 Dart is cheap, I feel sorry for you. They used to be MUCH cheaper. You could get them for $1000 - $2500 for really decent cars that were all original. e.g. 3:48 - someone replaced the seats in this car, and someone tried to paint over the front and rear bumpers and its flaking off - that's all wrong. I wouldn't pay $6500 for that. At least the one at 3:38 looks like an original car with the original interior. 3:57 - you're going to have to do a lot of work to straighten all that out. I'm not saying they are worthless junk, I am saying that you're spending a lot more today for Darts that need a lot of work than you did 10 or 15 years ago for original cars that didn't need much work at all. Then you show cars for $9000, $13,000, and $15,000 - these are the cars you used to be able to get for $1000 - $2500, and it wasn't all that long ago either.
❤ Great Video 👈. 🎥👀🤠🇨🇦
There's a little black magic in painting but it"s mostly experience. You did a great job sanding and buffing that paint. It's a ton of work for sure. A few more sanding and buffing jobs like that will build a strong incentive to lay that paint down next time. Just funning with you.
Thanks for watching. And yes, if i can avoid doing this again im sure gonna try
good job young man turned out good and you saved $ 15,000.00 on a paint job , well done .
Thanks brother! Just painted my Jetta outside with a harbor freight gun as well - she needs some shine 😂😂
Thanks for watching, Good luck with the jetta
You shouldn’t be sanding straight lines you need an orbital sander to do it properly Also your fingers leave a pattern so you’d atleast need a block Good job all in all though
thanks for the tip.
Very good job brother
Thanks man!
Beautiful car
Thank you!
This has always been my favorite mustang.
Mines just got hydro locked during storm Debbie down here in Summerville SC y'all can come take mines apart and look through it. Chrysler 300 s model
Dude!!! That hood shot at the end is INSANE. Nice ride. Going to follow this exact process on my car.
Thanks man, Good luck on your project
Did you apply the clear coat first or you're going to apply the clear coat afterwards?
the clear coat had already been applied.
@maddenmadness My 73 Mach 1 was painted this way and It is a lot worse than this! The drips are thick ! Hopefully I can make it look like your GTO!
@@vcotta2012 Im sure this will help it. Good luck with the Mach 1, awesome car!
Great job! Thanks for the valuable tip about masking the lines! I never would have thought about that. I hope that GTO is a keeper; awesome car!
Thanks for watching! and yes I'm never selling this car
😂😂🤪🤪what did you expect by painting this bad …. Outside on top of grass 🤭🤭🙈🙈🙈get the job done from pros , then will be no need of sanding and polishing 🙈☝️☝️☝️
you paying for it?
It just goes to show that even with many imperfections you can get still good results without needing to pay a ton of money. Great job @maddenmadness
@@maddenmadnesslooks like he’s painting cars and he’s mad at you showing ppl how to do it themselves 😂
Haha @@herzus1993came here to say this
Well said and well made.
Thanks!
It came out looking amazing!! Nice work!
thanks man!
i own a 1970 ford galaxie 500 and i can confirm it is a great car
how hard are you pressing the sand paper?
medium to light, not too hard
always do it yourself bro. im having the same problem as you.
Thank you. That was a really good, no nonsense teaching vid. It’s given me the confidence to hit up my project car here in Australia 👍
Thanks for watching! Good luck with the project
4:20 bro farted and thought we wouldnt notice
caught me
Ford made a big mistake using the 390 as it's street performance engine. The 390 was inferior to the GM and Mopar big blocks. The 427 however was able to go toe to toe with anything made at the time.
My first car was a barebones ‘68 Falcon…plain Jane, automatic, rubber floors
Getting some thing with style for your first car is just too cool.
Will that process work on paint with metallic particles in it? Looks great and I appreciate the video- excellent work!
all though I've never done it on metallic paint id bet it'll work, especially if it has clearcoat
Curious how this Thunderbolt would compare with the ultra rare 1963 Pontiac Tempest Super Duty 421 cars.
My first car with a brand new 340 Duster 3-speed shifter on the floor it was orange with a black vinyl top wish I had it now if I could find it I would buy it back
So I bought a Mustang II recently and the era, it's a really great handling car. Now it's not a 911 but for an American car wow it's surprisingly good and very fun.
Not surprising, given the front end is still the go to for hot rod builders to this day.
IMO, the styling is better than the foxbody. I always thought the foxbody looked like your basic generic sporty hatchback. It really had no mustang DNA in the styling. At least the Mustang II kinda looks like a mustang.
I find it very interesting that a natural asperated engine from 1964 has the potential to😂 destroy a modern supercharged ultra expensive car 😂 and thats not even Fords best effort, the 427 soch made bow ties spin and Chrysler cry fowl. And that doesn't even mention Carrol Shelby 😂
What if i just start from 1500 grit if its not that bad
I'm sure it'll work
While in high school, I bought a Gold Duster off the dealer lot in '74. 318, automatic, A/C, am radio, carpet. $3200 out the door. Wish I still had it.
Bro I am from Adelaide South Australia 🇦🇺 l ABSOLUTELY loved your review on the Mustang ll , when I was a kid in Brazil 🇧🇷 there was one of them I always loved that car , I think to me is one of the best thing ever as it’s gorgeous and it’s small and it’s economical plus it’s a legendary iconic Mustang anyway, as a 67 Shelby Cobra 🐍 to me this Mustang ll ain’t no less than any mustang as it’s still classic still unique and this is the car model that carried the Mustang torch 🔦 away through the petrol crises this a VERY EXTREMELY IMPORTANT mustang that carried the Mustang Badge from muscle through the petrol crises and without it maybe Mustang would’ve not survived it deserves HEAPS OF RESPECT from others mustang owners i really insist that every Mustang enthusiasts RESPECT this little Pinto/Mustang as pinto in Brazilian language means “ Penis “ this is the Mustang Penis answer to petrol crises
thanks for watching man! glad you enjoyed it. good to know I'm not the only one who likes these little mustangs
The Maverick was an economical or a racy car. With a large list of options, a buyer could make his/her Maverick one or the other, or in between!
