I have been avoiding this for awhile because once I start watching too much Gary Numan stuff I start getting so obsessed I don't want to do anything else or live in real life anymore. It's just so much better in Numanland. ha ha ha
WTF!!! How has he managed to keep such amazing vocal? What an absolute legend. My Dad met him at a flying club at North Weald (I think) he said he was absolutely charming. They simply don’t make ‘em like that anymore
I agree about the vocals. I am blown away by how good he sounds. Most singers voices change when they get older. But he still sounds like his young self. Incredible.
Gary was always underrated for the first 20yrs until we catch up. I remember buying this album at 16yrs old when it first came out, never looked back. This album changed my life, I am 58 today all I can say is thank you Gary!
Numan showed us the Dystopian Future 43 years ago. I remember buying this album in high school and thinking this sounds like the future and I was right. Only now it sounds modern and every bit as powerful as it did then. Thanks Gary!
@@eli8829 I honestly think Gary Numan's music has aged better than any musician of that era. This whole Brixton Academy set could have been first written and recorded yesterday.
You can't beat a classic, and this is a genuine CLASSIC track. A brilliant track from a brilliant album. Still sounds as fresh today as it did in 1979.
How the hell do you say thank God for Numan, when Numan doesn't believe in God?? Ill just pay homage to rumour........., can't wait to get back down in the park. Xxxx
@@criticalmass9483 The great thing with Techno and Synth is, it does not sound old, you could play it to a new audience and they would not know till they compare it.
After 20+ replays, three things stick in my mind. First: Amazing stage presence! Second: Vocals sound better than ever! Third: That's the right drummer for the job! I wasn't born when this song was made, but it has followed me for all my life in different ways. So happy to get to see live versions of it online, and I really hope that I will get a chance to send a simple "Thank you!" to Gary for all the melodies, emotions and inspiration that I have found through his work. It means a lot, for this random nobody...
Absolutely fantastic! I feel my admoration and excitement of Numan in my youth vindicated in a strange way seeing this icon is still performing...as cool as he was 30 years ago...so much respect, thanks Gary Numan!
My friends and I were listening to his music in the 80"s.He is classic, legendary, timeless and a true musical genius.Absolutely amazing.Numan forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My grandma and grandad went to this one 2 weeks ago I am going next year it will be good give me a like if you are a fan of Gary numan if you are your the best
Right... my 60th soon! I’m renting a big concert screen and a bad-ass sound system, inviting all my old school mates and putting on all these vids. Great production quality from Brixton Academy.
I remember feeling like the future had arrived when this was first released. Still moves me in similar ways, except strangely seems even more dystopian now than it did then.
My plumber just called to say he's bringing a dog & hopes it's okay because it's freezing out & can't leave him in the truck. I asked what his name was (excited to meet his dog) & he said "Five." I said "hey, that's funny, did you ever hear the Gary Numan song "Down in the Park" & he said no, & I was so excited to share it with him that I sang the line over the phone:)) When he gets here II'm going to play it for him, he's young, but I know he's going to love it (he better!) This was incredible btw. I didn't know Gary was touring still, but can't see ANY reason why not. He's even more amazing than in 79! How that's humanely possible II don't know, but it is.
I think aging rock stars like Gary Numan and Johnny Marr came up with the perfect formula to keep their careers going: add young musicians in their 20's to the group. This makes them seem younger and more relevant to younger audiences. Genius move!
I have been listening to him for so long and I just have been truly amazed by how well his voice has aged, amazing artist and I dont think I could live without his music
I saw him live at Posten in Odense. It was one hell off a great concert. And the sound was in top. I look forward to see him live again this year at Train in Aarhus.
This is superb ! I remember listening to the album in the early 70s when I lived in Holme, Cumbria...., with a friend called Michael Holmes... man! If you are out there somewhere, I hope you are well.... I heard you moved to Australia.. you have really brought your music , banging into the 21 st Century! Great job !! What a God !!, 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Indeed. Regarded as a freak then. He was way ahead of his time.
@@hirepimike and still he is!
And to think of how old Gary numan was when you were 16 and he’s still going and sound great. David Bowie meets kraftwork
61 and still listening to the sound of metal

Almost absurdly majestic for us 80s kids.
I was bracing for impact when he started to sing but Jesus Christ he sounds great
Yep...he gets better over time unlike some bands

NONEBELIEVING ANTITHEIST magic band 💚🎶👍
This live version actually sounds better than the album. I prefer his more matured voice.
I read your post in the voice of Eddie

I don't know, they look and sound like they have religion, Satanic. They fooled you though.
The ACE of spades!
Watching Gary Numan is addictive.
I absolutely LOVE when people in the crowd wave their arms like Gary’s.
So, do you do the arm wave all the time at home watching the video? Don't feel ashamed if you do. 👍

It's surreal is what it is....surreal!
Incredible, the people he hired to play the music nailed it
Love the synth. I think that is what I miss most from the 70's and 80's.
Totally diggin it. I like how it's sort of a combination of the retro sound, plus some new.

Yeah because absolutely no music is made with synthesisers in 2024🤔

I bow to the Master of electronic music & synth rock.
This song still gives me chills. Such an amazing f-ing track.
🤬 AWESOME!
When you write music that was remnant of the future when it hits the future it sounds modern.
One of my all time favs since I was 8!!! I am now 42... I love you Gary!
Yeah. I'm obsessed with the man and the music. My eye makeup has taken a definite turn to the dark side as well.
We love you Gary since I was 15 1979🇬🇧😊😊🤗🤗🤗❤
On of the best songs of the 80's sounds like nothing before or since.
One day I will be in a crowd myself waving my arms
we evolve or we die.. gary rocking his classic track with ghost dancing ... is classic
The synth player is excellent !!!

I was only 8 in 1979 so young fan still love his music today in 2020 👍
I bought the sound track for Times Square, in 1980. 40 years ago and still like this style of music
Foo fighters brought me here. Good stuff.
Dudes still killin' it.
That was brilliant. Perfectly performed and sung, as good as it ever was decades ago. Still gives me chills.
Outstanding vocals, fantastic drumming. Great! Wasn't expecting those vocals from Gary.
Just gets better each time I hear it.
His music stands the test of time far better than any other bands of the 70's and 80's - as it's timeless.
A perfect pop song.
One of my favourites!

Seen him live Twice in 1979 London, looks just as awesome now as he did then , now started playing my Tubeway Army records again, lolololol .

Why does he sound better now 40 years later ? Just incredible!
Holy shit! That was epic!
His work is so brilliant. A true pioneer
Perfection from Gary and the band
