I really enjoyed that interview. John is articulate, insightful and gives off positive vibes.
A truly humble and lovely guy.
I met him after the Beterbiev Yarde fight. In fact i was invited to the hotel lobby and saw him in the corner. I called out his name and he walked over to me, shook my hand and we exchanged boxing stories. Down to earth human being, very articulate and family oriented.
He's a really nice person. He's also never drank alcohol 🍸 in his life. I wish i could say that.

A sutrah (Arabic: سترة lit., "screen, cover") is an object used by a person performing prayer (salat) as a barrier between himself and one passing in front of him. The person praying should be positioned at less than or equal to three forearms' length away from the Sutrah.
Great video. A little insight, he wasn't praying to the tree, rather I'm sure he used the tree as a block so people wouldn't walk past him as he's praying. Yarde getting ko'ed unfortunately.
Yes yes of course. I knew he wasn’t exactly praying to the tree. He was just in front of it. But in the beginning it was like he was looking up at the tree and I thought maybe he saw something up there or something until I figured it out

True, it's called a Sutrah, it's the prophetic way. Think of it as a barrier so that no one passes in front while someone is praying.

He didn't pray to the tree he prayed to his Creator, the tree is the sutrah, something that prevent someone to walk in front of you when you pray.

He improves a lot beterbiev with his bodyshot. I follow beterbiev since 2013. When he joints beterbiev's team we see the evolution. When we say beterbiev is better now than against govzdyk. it's mainly the improvement of his bodyshots....

I’ve heard that it was something that they put in asthma medicine that clears the airway and makes breathing easier (which of course would be illegal in boxing)

Lets be honest, you don't train Beterbiev he trains you lol ... I got mad respect for Scully and Ramsay for taking him under their wing and getting him where he is especially after that managerial mess he had to go through, its with their support and guidance that he's where he should be and thats at the top of the 175 division ... but even Scully would likely admit the guy was primed before he even got to them they just added to the dynamite with great strategy and persistent team work getting him in front of the right opponents and prepping him mentally and physically for these fights, they're a great team together and i'm a huge fan of their work ... great interview and thanks for the insight John.
Beterbiev is better now than 5 years ago....
I disagree. Beterbiev is a far superior boxer today. He was still a very raw product when he joined this team. Just a genetically freak human, great cardio & power. But these 2 have added so much boxing acumen to his game. His boxing iq right now is top draw. Their strategy & Beterbiev's disciplined lifestyle helped him imbibe all their teachings. This team to me looks like the Crawford team.
