He was making the comparison that if Beterbiev had Canelo on the ropes he would have finished him - not a criticism, just a comparison of styles. The overarching point is that Beterbiev is no Canelo - he won't be pushed back to the ropes by Bivol so if Bivol (or any of his supporters) feel that the Beterbiev fight will be anything like the Canelo fight (and are taking inspiration from that fight) they will be in for a big surprise! His hand speed makes it difficult for opponents to get in and get their offense going. the canelo kovalev fight was an obvious fix. everybody in vegas knew that, the odds reflected it, and Sergey banked 12 million by far his largest purse, and he had a legal problem that scared him for something stupid.....that fight is a rare example in the sport of an obvious fix, from start to finish. Once in a while Kovalev would throw a serious jab, but sometimes he would "miss" a jab by 10 or 12 inches, hilarious...and pull almost all his punches and then he took the dive.. In fact both of Kovalev's "loses" to what's his face were scams. The first fight he had twice has many power punches, and the fight was not remotely close; the second fight he got hit with 4 shots below the belt in quick succession after he got legit tagged, and the ref stopped it; instead of deducting a point (or two or 3 or 4) from Ward, for what were 4 straight hammer punches in the nuts, he called a tko for Ward, something the Ref later admitted he should not have done, "it was a quick stoppage," Kovalev was way up the second fight when he got screwed again. Kovalev and Beterbiev in their prime as pros would be the best light heavy fight in many decades, perhaps ever. I know they fought as amateurs. Bivol is strictly average imho. no power, he gasses early and has fought nobody any good. i do see Beterbiev winning but he would have to go on the attack relentlessly akin to Subriel Matias' pressure. Beterbiev will not have that one counter punch KO for Bivol; he would have to dig to the body early but keep pressure the entire fight. Bivol's biggest strength is his movements, but it's disguised in the mind games in the ring. Once Bivol has your measure, you're done for. He'll outpace you, out-work you but doing it defensively responsible
I don't see Beterbiev outpacing or out-working Bivol. I see Beterbiev overpowering Bivol, but Bivol is too smart for that & will gauge the distance & operate on a faster node. Beterbiev will have to outsmart Bivol time & time again to effectively break him like he does his other opponents, but again, Bivol is a mastermind in the ring. To constantly outsmart a mastermind, you not only have to be one, you have to be on a level so immense because you're outsmarting a mastermind, you understand?... I don't see Beterbiev outsmarting Bivol... it could be as simple as Usyk vs AJ... But IF Bivol gets broke down in 5, then, Beterbiev's power is truly unnatural & unrivaled in history as Beterbiev's touch up aren't loading back, they're from the shoulders (ps, I know the power is real) -- but to end Bivol like that? Where was the "slaughter gameplan?" the only thing scully said was "IF" Aurther had Canelo on the ropes it would be a slaughter (misleading)... anyway I understand about the Bivol hype after the Canelo fight and the same goes for Aurther after the Smith fight cause that small Canelo Scully described beat that big Smith, the Smith Aurther is now being praised for as some big accomplishment. I do believe however that Bivol gave Canelo too much respect and couldve done more damage but I've been watching Bivol's career up to that point and was sure of his win against Canelo .... to me this a 50/50 fight and the one that gets tired first loses .... Bivol gets ko'd or Aurther loses by decision. In all Bivol's fights after the first exchanges his opponents give respect for the remainder of the fight, that is they dont go in tryn to ko him which tells me he has enough power to hurt them so the question on fight night is will Aurther feel the same way after he gets hit. If he doesnt he will still have to deal with Bivol's movement that he's shown to have all 12rds. This is a great fight cause both fighters dont get tired so makes for a very interesting fight. I feel Bivol can pull it off with a close decision but Aurther's power is real.

That mean Abel Sanchez, Chad Dawson, Jean Pascal, Lonnie B, Dhafir Smith, Callum Johnson, callum Smith, Groves, Andrade, antonio tarver etc.....are delusional? Beterbiev was the #1 p4p in amateur. If Usyk and Kovalev did not outboxing Beterbiev in amateur and Govzdyk was better than Bivol. He did not outboxing Beterbiev also. who is the real delusional? Beterbiev in 6th round and if it's the same Bivol than Lyndon ARthur, 3 rounds....

Bivol has that footwork and speed. Then you got a the beast Beterbiev coming at you strong and walking right thru your defense.Beterbiev delivers sledge hammer punches that will fold Bivol and maybe knock him out.

canelo never wanted arture inspite of being a unfied champ he goes for the bivol but style wise i think it would have been better for canelo to fight artur but maybe they are just looking for the size differencec

why even pretend bivol would be the one to cry about weight? remind me which of the two fought zurdo again? haha zurdo weighed damn near 200lbs on the night and bivol schooled him. bivol will ko artur sorry, artur is not effective at the range bivol will keep him at, feel free to argue with me...

Only thing that's getting slaughtered is Beterbievs Scar Tissue from Bivols Jab. 116-112, 117-112 Bivol. Dmitry is the better boxer. Period. He wins rounds more efficiently. And he's one of only 2-3 guys at 175 that's durable and defensively sound enough to outlast Arturs Assaults.

@@gentlemanmob i didn't give him a bats chance in Hell. He laid down for Canelo. And got beaten up by John Ryder. He was inactive at 175. And his power was vastly overrated. He can only defend himself by not being offensive. I picked Beterbiev by Stoppage like most. That being said, Bivol would easily outpoint smith. And he will outbox Beterbiev. Guaranteed. The skill gap, is vast.

@@Duel1982you don’t know what you’re looking at. Beterbiev is highly skilled. He’s used to the old Soviet Union boxing style as well. Bivol will have major issues in that fight, power being only one of them.

Lyndon Arthur landed 71 punch. Canelo landed 84 punch. to make it worst Bivol defend in 3 leaps back of straight line. thats not good for him against a pressure style of Beterbiev
