They cannot comment on their writing decisions publicly regarding the final seasons of game of thrones, because those choices were made purely for financial reasons (to end the show as quickly as possible on the contracts they signed when they were less famous, and jump ASAP to the biggest paycheck they can find. First HBO, then Star Wars, then Netflix. Whoever would pay the most). If you're curious on their writing decisions you'd be best to reach out to their lawyers or agents, they decided what happened in the final season of that show.

Pretty much. Of course, getting death threats is over the top. But they deserve criticism because they just got completely lazy by the end, there is no other explanation - kids on Reddit were able to come up with more plausible plot lines to finish the story than D&D. And they showed in the earlier seasons that they were capable of coming up with good stuff outside of the books, like the conversation between Cersei and Robert about their marriage or the throne room convo between Littlefinger and Varys. With season 8, they did destroy something very precious to many people, as you say, something people love up to this day, so the emotional reaction of fans is understandable and this grudge will likely never go away. The positive legacy of season 8 lies in great cinematography, sets, costumes, make-up and hair department, and actresses and actors who really did their absolute best and it shows (looking especially at Emilia Clarke here).

So it's their fault. Not a plot fault. They could have not rushed so much and we could have seen at least 10 episodes each season. They cut characters development, if we have more episodes or maybe one more season between the last two, we could have the opportunity to understand the choices that every character made. BUT they preferred to do it quickly in order to move on to their following projects. So shame on them.

Wow ! So much hate for these guys. Get over yourselves. Despite the controversial ending, they stayed true to the series' trademark unpredictability. With George R.R. Martin's slow progress, they had to forge ahead without source material for several seasons, a daunting task they managed admirably. Plus, the choice of Bran as king came from Martin's own outlines. It's worth recognizing that without D&D, we might never have had the iconic Game of Thrones series in the first place. Be grateful folks and learn to be forgiving. These guys extended making the last season for a longer period and battling with HBO over crazy budgets (15 millions per episode !) to deliver a suitable ending. It wasn’t rushed or anything.

I've watched quite a few D&D interviews and also what GRRM spoke about in the final seasons and it's quite clear they wanted to wrap up the show and move on with their careers, and putting that ahead of the story and characters was ultimately a detriment to the show. GRRM said publicly the show should have gone to 10 seasons to be told correctly. But having said that I also put some of the blame on George himself because not having the last two books written was a huge problem for the show's writers trying to figure out how to deal with so many smaller story lines. Just like with Lost and many other shows that past their prime and finished not on the best note, the showrunners usually get remembered for their bad final season and not the great ones.

I agree. I don't fault them for failing to wrap up a show which the original author can't even do. I do dislike they shrugged it off and didn't go the full 10 or so seasons that the story needed and to at least try to wrap it up in a fitting way.

You're absolutely right but I believe staying closer to George and consulting him more, even without finished books, would prevent them from failing this much. Maybe there would still be some plot holes here and there, seems like George himself is struggling to come up with an end that ties everything together, but I believe so much could have been prevented if they had simply cared enough. If not by talking to George, than by taking more time to finish this or leaving it to someone else and most importantly, by not trying to "subvert expectations" at all costs but going after plotlines that makes sense in the context of the story. They would have likely not come up with the best final season ever, but could have made it at least somewhat satisfying to the audience and give us closure.

Truth!!! They could have left on good terms and brought in another team to oversee the next few seasons AND resume consulting with GRRM again to ensure they are telling the correct vision he has for those last two books. If GRTM was going to kill off Dani / it should have stretched out over a few seasons to see that decline in moral character. We should have also had more time with Jon Snow coming to terms with who is mother was and his being part Targaryen. That was also thrown to the wasteside. Any True Fan knows that after S5 there was a Decline in the Overall Quality and that’s mainly because they ran out of Book Content, but GRRM didn’t stop trying to help.
GRRM has said that they stopped including him into the writing all together for some reason around that time and we saw what that led to and it’s why GRRM said he will be heavily involved with anything in the same Universe moving forward.
I do not know why HBO couldn’t replace them since they wanted to quit so badly and it bothers me still.

I would like for someone to genuinely explain to me why did GRRM and Dave and Dan make such a big deal about how they had to make a guess who Jon Snow’s mother was when they basically relegated him in season eight to dialogue of “I don’t want it” and did not explore the amazing discover of him being part Targaryen!!
Poor Dani after years of growth turns into a mad woman and one episode, and then is killed by a great potential love story that should’ve been explored and come to completion in a positive way in season eight. Then these two idiots decide to take brand character who missed an entire season, and did absolutely nothing with his three eyed Raven power to put him on the throne as king?
And they are wondering why so many fans hate their guts? And I’m quite surprised that Josh was satisfied with that ending.
The only person that received a good ending was Sophie Turner’s character by becoming Queen of the North. I can relate to her situation, thinking you’re marrying Prince Charming just to find out you married a crazy lunatic, and then she had to suffer another crazy lunatic 2nd marriage, so for her to come out on top, and for her to have that growth was satisfying.
How do they justify this ? How does anyone who found GOT Season 8 justify this ? Cersei should have faked the pregnancy and Dani should have been pregnant. The Night King should have been killed by Jon.
Arya should not have gone Dora the Explorer unless The Hound was going with her. More people should have died and how does Braun get a better ending then Jamie Lannister who was clearly making strides in character of being a Knight and getting away from his crazy ass twin sister - who should have definitely been killed - but not the way she did.
What was the point of all those great seasons then ?
GRRM also gets my ire because no author should take this long to complete a series - he did share with them how he wanted the book series to end so if what D&D displayed in Season 8 remotely resembles what GRRM has intended for Dani and Jon Snow then he can go F*€¥ off also.

It was till seasons 6 heck till 7 but i know the feeling you have everybody does, got had things and storyline which scary different and amazing but somehow dumb and dumber killed the hype of the show and it's legacy too people are always talking about breaking bad,got was better but the ending matters got as a topic isn't talked as much no one is that interested, these two killed the lore, they literally chose greed but karma hit them they literally got blacklisted after what did they did to got in the end

George Martin wanted 13 seasons! D&D took away all the fantasy elements of the show from the books and then rushed at least 2 last seasons. They wanted to take advantage of game of thrones and cash in on their success. But In the end they had the opposite results. It's called KARMA 😊

I wonder if they wish they could go back and continue working on GoT if they knew rushing it would sabotage their Star Wars opportunity. I imagine 13 seasons would mean they’d still be working on it today, as well as all the actors, and I don’t know how they would feel about that.
