  • Today's diy aged planter project doesn't take much time or supplies, but makes a big statement! In this video I will show you how to do a thrift flip and give a faux stone effect to these thrifted outdoor planters. This is a fun diy that show you how to get a high end look for much less! The outdoor planters I use for this diy were found at the thrift store for $4.09 each. The inexpensive planters went from a metal material, with colors that didn't really match my style, to high end, expensive looking stone! We're also making garden tuteurs, using wooden dowel rods. Since I am using these diy aged planters outside, I wanted to add height and decorative interest to them. By added the wooden tuteurs to the inside of the planters, it will allow me to use plants that climb and add a beautiful statement to the garden. I'm so happy with the way this diy project turned out and I think you will be too if you give it a try!
Supplies needed for this diy project:
    2 Planters
1 large bad of potting soil
Plants (if building the tuteurs, you may want a plant that climbs as it grows)
    - I used Jasmine & Japanese Spurge
7 3/4 inch wooden dowel rods
    Hot glue gun & glue
    1 roll of twine
Spray paint (this is used as your base for the planters)
    - I used matte black
    1 bottle of acrylic paint
    - I used the color tan
    Clear Finishing Spray
    - I used matte clear (this will go on after our paint and faux stone texture)
    Joint Compound
    Water
Patience & an excitement for the project! :)

What do you think of this diy project? I'm happy with the way they turned out! The same day I finished the planters, we had a heavy rain in the evening and I was a bit worried if the faux stone texture would hold up to the elements. Thankfully I can report that the stone texture is intact! Yay!
