I'm gonna talk about my little experience here. I'm 26 now but at 8 i had an accident with my uncle in a dirt bike and i lost memory and conciousness. For so many years i always saw motorcycles on the road and thought about how awesome should be able to get one even after what happened when i was a kid. Fast forward to a few months ago, i just decided i wanted one, so i went to the dealership and got a brand new yamaha xsr700. And I can't express how happy i am now, how relaxed i feel, I'm not in a bad mood all the time. It changed the way i see life too. So, for all the guys in the channel waiting to get one, just be patient and get it when you can afford it, be smart about your decisions but don't give up on getting one, i hope it changes your life too as it did with me.

@@xav_crack yeah, as a beginner you have to respect the bike, it has a lot of torque, so you have to be gentle with the throttle if you're learning how to ride in that bike, I'll highly suggest if you've never driven a manual car or a motorcycle to go to a msf course, learn the basics first and then go to your xsr and practice before going into the streets. That's what i did, and it's been two years with the motorcycle and i don't regret my purchase or the decision to start riding. If you buy it keep in touch so we can share our mods 😊

I’m glad you covered this topic. I was able to hold of on buying a motorcycle until I was in the Navy and handling my own finances. A teenager would definitely have to factor in insurance and available riding weather because it really sucks when you are making payments on something that is sitting in the garage for 4 months out of the year. Routine maintenance gets pricey also. It’s supposed to be 50 degrees in Chicago tomorrow, I am going to ride!!!!

Guys. Buy a bike cheap, you can do it in college but it has to be cheap. You can find nice bikes for under 2 grand. My 99 Honda Magna 750 (second bike) was $1,750. Fun, good condition, powerful, and handles very well. You don’t have to get brand new whatsoever. You just have to be smart about it all. I just bought my third bike, an ‘01 R6 with 9,900 miles on it for $4,000. I got my first bike at 19, second at 20, third at 22. You can do it. Just be smart and everyone can get into the saddle!

ALWAYS buy private sale. Butt make sure to take it to trustworthy mechanic for full check! 10 out of 11 times your saving half of whatever your paying on dealer comission Ex: bike cost 5k private, dealer would sell 7.500 -10k.
Also, 6/10 new bikes (1st gen) are mainly experimental and will have some issue.
    - just a mechanics perspective

And bc I get the itch to ride like once a week bc Im busy working like a made man when I'm home from school it works out. However, I plan on using college graduation money to get an older used bike from craigslist. I am a bit mechanically inclined, so I can do most simply maintence stuff my self.

Yammie: Love getting to watch the best bike channel on CZcams! Haha. I am in a unique situation
I am 21 years old, living on my own and pretty much fully paying for every aspect of myself (rent, bills, insurance, etc) I got immensely lucky with a sales job making just shy of $60k annually, which is absurd for my age.
Although I recognize that even in my position I cannot escape the grasp of insurance rates for guys my age, even with a completely clean record.
My pure passion is cars, but seeing as that market is fucked I’m looking into my secondary passion of bikes! I still have a long way to go, haven’t purchased a single bit of gear much less done my riding course, but I’ll get there :)
I’m thinking of a budget of around 8k, and just buying outright, to soften the insurance blow as much as possible, but past that… unsure what I want!
I live in a tiny mountain town in northern NM, with a significant number of unpaved roads, and the ones that are paved aren’t smooth by any means. I’m not saying i need a duel sport, but it’s worth noting. It also gets quite snowy in the winter months. I’ve looked into mostly naked and cafe style bikes, in the 400-500cc range, but maybe I’m getting ahead of myself with that level of power
I had a little 90cc Yamaha dirt bike when I was much younger but that’s the extent of my riding experience. What naked bikes would you recommend? I know you had an Mt-07, and I quite like the look of that one, what do you think?
PS: It’s awesome to see you in Austin, I lived there 12 years and loved it so much, I used to work at Barton springs. I used to ride on the back of my dads first year Triumph Thruxton and we would park at that spot at 13:25. Good memories :)

Bought my first bike 1 yr ago. I'm 54 and a cruiser guy. My mistake was buying a new bike and paying too much overall. I had a good down payment and should have paid outright for a good used bike. My advice to a new rider is get a well cared for, not too heavy used bike that you can pay cash for/buy outright. After a year of riding I am ready to move up in size and weight for highway travel but still have that pesky bike note to pay off first.

I wanted 390 but can’t wait much longer so will see how year and 125 pans out. Credit to sales guy he told me not to waste money on the first bike and buy used... but done it anyway

I searched and searched and research and... for two years before I bought my first bike. I purchased a Husqvarna TR650. Only after I created a spread sheet of all the BMW parts for cross reference. Because the bike was an orphan year I purchased for 2800 bike had 600 miles. I sold two years later for 8k with 10,000 miles on it; with spares wheels, tires and other parts that would be difficult to find. Today I wish I kept it.
My point is take the time, research, test ride, go to riding events and talk to riders. Your dream bike is out there. Good luck to all looking for euphoria in riding. So much fun.

I love 150 or 200 cc bikes, to be honest. They give impressive mileage. Yamaha r15 gives 45 kmpl. It's like 105 mpg. And they're powerful too, for a beginner. They can go like 120-140 kph, which is enough for daily commute and safe long distance riding. 400, 600 and 1000 ccs have got only power, and nothing else, may give you a lot of speeding tickets and may even take your life. On a racetrack, it's different, but on the streets they're not reliable.

I don't care if I drop it. I've carved every single curve in the Nijmegen area and had an awesome time owning the piece of crap. I'm saving up for a MT07 at the moment but I've never missed having more power. Fun is in corners for me, not in power or top speed.

I've been thinking a Honda CB 500 x but I saw a benelle 502c a Ducati diavo ripoff in miniature really like the look but can't make up my mind if I want to buy China made bike and I am concerned about parts. I hate commenting in the middle of a video, but I just wanted to add onto a really good point you made about taking out a loan to pay for a bike when you're young - it frees up your capital to invest into things like mutual funds, which you will not regret doing (and you should be doing), but it also gives you a great opportunity to build up your credit too. If you've got a decent credit score, you're at your first entry level job out of school, you're pretty disciplined and responsible, then taking out a loan for the bike instead of saving up and paying cash will really help you launch that credit score up into the high 700's by the time you're going to start thinking about, you know, taking out a mortgage for example. Okay, that's my two cents, back to the video xD

I really wanted a bike and every spring since 2012 i went to shops, sat on bikes and wanted to buy. In November 2018 i finally bought my 08 CBR 600RR used in cash. 1 year later in so happy i waited and got the bike i wanted for less than i wud have spent on a bike that was what i thought i wanted. The 3 friends one enjoyed the cheap Honda Shadow sold it for similiar to what he bought it for, one still has a Ducati Evo 848 that he hasnt ridden in years, the third traded his Ninja 250 for a another bike he financed.

Hi. Great channel. Im a little confused about what you said regarding not paying cash for a bike. That it's _better to use someone else's cash._ Yet, if you finance a bike, then you still have to pay the principle and now you also have to pay the interest.

  • @karl-artureiskop4942
    @karl-artureiskop4942 Před 3 lety +1

If you want to get a bike, you should think what you need the bike for. If you just need to get around town on your own on the cheap then look for a moped or a microcar(if you live in the EU). If you need a vehicle to get around in the countryside where distanses are long and speeds are high and you are not old enogh to drive a car then you should start looking for a bike to sute your needs.
If the roads are in good condition and you have nice wether all the time, then a regular street bike or a cruiser or a naked bike is fine, If you have a bunch of dirt and gravel roads and the wether is unstable then an enduro is probobly better suted for your situation.
But if you just want to have fun then get a new or a lightly used model of the bike that you like.

I think people ask for your opinion is because, for ex: I never rode a bike before taking my motorcycle license. And considering that I spent 30 hours at the moto school, on different bikes, I was not aware of which is good or not. Even if I drive test, I still had some fear or little knowledge.
I chose my bike with no help. My first factor was the riding position. Second, I want this for commuting and drives to the mountain. Third, not so many hp, but not so few, so I chose a 650cm3 bike.
Fourth point: I didn't want to buy a bike now, and then another one in one year. I wanted a long ride bike, in years and kms. So I asked myself these 4 questions, logically speaking, and it was the best advice for me.
