I tried this revamped story mode out for myself, and its honestly good. A lot more disturbing for sure, but they did make the story mode more easy though which is fine and probably good since its the first chapter or part or whatever you wanna call it.
I like the horror aspect that was added 100% :]

Should have at least added in the red eyes during the ability, since Murderer "enters a rage" to use the ability - similar to bloodshot eyes. The revamped design has more quality though, unlike the original that just has a red flashlight as a face

Devs need to add something in cabin where the slashers tries to break the noor they should make it when slasher was about to open the door and notice its locked and you have to hide and the slasher will patrol the area and you have to find a better hiding place because it hasa chance that will check your hiding spot basically you have wait for him to go away

How to enter hunt mode on a private server?
You cannot unfortunately. As of rn hunt mode is solely for public servers. If you are wanting to join with friends, then you all should enter a private server and join survival mode, then go over to the hunt mode area and thats how you can join hunt with ur friends.
