@@kevinpeterson8350 Poison is a pretty good defensive typing for bulky pokemon like Weezing, Amoongus, Alolan Muk or Toxapex. 2 weaknesses, 5 resistances, an immunity to the poison status (Toxic often being an anti-wall measure) and the ability to counter Toxic Spikes adds up to a fair bit of utility. It's not as good as gen 2 steel was, but there are very few part poison type pokemon that I look at and think "If only this was mono-X" like I sometimes do with bug, ice or rock.

Fun Sidefact. I didn't know Magnemite and Magneton were Steel Type Pokémon until Generation 6.
I played the first 3 Generations the most, but I was rather young back then and I didn't know the type chart. I knew there were the original types from Gen 1 and I knew they added Steel and Dark Type Pokémon to the Game with Gen 2. But I didn't know they retroactively changed Magnemite and Magneton. Because non of the originial 150 was made into a Dark Type either.
So I used to refer to Jasmine as an Electric Type Gym Leader who just for the lulz added a Steelix that was supposed to be massively overleveled. Because back then Pokémon was unfair. After all they allways had me beat in Type Advantage at some point in the game.
Also I was pretty flabberghasted (funny word here btw :D) when I first saw Flamethrower doing massive damage against Magneton in X.
Not to mention I felt really dumb arguing with my friends over the fact that Magnemite is just an Electric Type. 😂😂😂
Which I know now hasn't been the fact for quite a few years.....
