I love how Mr. Banks just casually accepts the cannon booms twice a day.

Also (I think only in the second version), they have people over when the cannon first goes off and a banker catches a vase. This means that many things could (and have ) broken before

I love it when the other nannies start flying. No screaming, they seem super calm, it's as if they're all going "oh well. Guess I'm flying away now. Bye Bye"

@plazasta They must have changed their minds at the last minute not wanting the job after hearing Admiral Boom fire the cannon and were looking for a reason to get away from the Banks house and the wind changing helped them to leave.

Typical British character. We generally tend to be stoic and reserved even if wind is blowing us into the air. For an American made film, they got the British mannerisms and character pretty accurate.

@Lolo the Paragon Maybe the reason they didn't scream, yell, or react from getting blown away because, they changed their minds not wanting the job as a nanny at the banks house after hearing Admiral Boom firing the cannon at 0:57 where they were looking for a reason to be getting away from the Banks house and the wind changing helped them get out of there.

On looking at the queue of prospective nannies, I detect one or two are (stunt) men. I’m. Curious how many of the flying nannies were stuntmen. The sheer number of stunt flights on screen all at once is a marvel! Someone else in the comments mentioned trash or litter in the streets. Of course, ALL the nannies are either holding copies of the advertisement, and/or letters of recommendation, and/or newspapers, which, I suspect, is by design and merely for the purpose of embellishing the special effect of the strong gust of wind that blows the nannies away. First we see fallen leaves blowing through the group, then umbrellas inverting, then all manner of nannies and advertisements flying away. It’s a beautifully staged & choreographed, comically built, series of stunt flights! I cannot think of a filmed flying sequence that even comes close to the shear number of actors flying at one time - perhaps the scene in The Wizard of Oz, where the flying monkeys swoop down, pick up Dorothy and, fly away! This sequence is pretty spectacular!

I honestly love that the makers didn't obsess over the bit of trash in the street (1:33) that didn't even quiver during the wind. Shows that they focused on what really mattered: music, character, charm, in other words the important elements.

He was grown up, but sadly he retired from acting after *The Gnome-Mobile* .
He died at 21 years old in '77 from pancreatitis that was caused supposedly from some food poisoning while he was in India. And Dotrice admitted that she regrets not keeping in contact with him before his death.
