Dr. Izabella Wentz, PharmD, FASCP is a pharmacist who has dedicated herself to addressing the root causes of autoimmune thyroid disease after being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis in 2009. She received herDoctor of Pharmacy from the Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy at the age of 23.
After being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Dr. Wentz was surprised at the lack of knowledge about lifestyle interventions for Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, and autoimmune conditions. She decided to take on lifestyle interventions as a personal mission in an effort to help herself and others with Hashimoto's.
She has summarized three years of research and two years of testing in her book the best-selling patient guide “Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis” Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause” and she is co-producer of the Hashimoto’s Institute.
On Today’s show we talk about common signs and symptoms of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis such as fatigue, weight and skin problems. You might be surprised to hear how common this unusual sounding health condition is. On the show, Izabella shares her story and we discuss causes of Hashimoto’s and treatment options.

I had three doctors, without doing any blood tests, diagnose me with Bipolar II disorder. Those meds that I didn't need, turned me into a nonfunctioning zombie. My new doctor, right away, said she thinks it's a thyroid hormone issue and insisted on a full testing including antibodies. Test results came back with antibodies. That I'm hypothyroid. It's a bitter sweet diagnosis. Now, I am on the right track with medications, vitamins and diet to getting better. I only pray I feel better sooner than later. I'm tired of being tired. lol Thank you for your very informative video.

Great stuff. I wish I saw this a long time ago. I went gluten free, before knowing I had Hashiamotos. It helped with joint pain and acid reflux. I was told about Hashi's by an acquaintance, and asked for antibody test, positive. I did a FODMAP diet that helped isolate dairy and the onion and garlic family as irritants. This helped with IBS, and bloating. Since, I've gone to a Keto diet, and have lost 20lbs in the last month. I still have chronic fatigue, systemic pain, mind fog/forgetfulness, and limbic system symptoms. Stress is my major trigger, and society is relentless. Good luck all.

Thanks for all this info!! I have both Hashimoto's tyroiditis and PCOS and I agree that there is an amazing lack of information on how to diagnose and mainly how the life style plays a major role on the general well-being. I've been researching a lot, since I don't buy the idea of: Just take your pill and feeling like that is normal and you'll get worse on time 'cause that's how chronic disease is. So finding this is a small lightbeam of hope :)

Unfortunately H-Pylori is not as easy to eradicate anymore (if it ever was ). I , personally have been treated twice with antibiotics and it keeps coming back . My husband also has it and he has just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which makes total sense now after watching this video.
Thank you for the information provided .

I turned 20 today, but I was 16 or 17 when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. I was feeling better for a little while but now I feel worse than before while just on Levothyroxine. I have been doing a lot of research on going gluten-free the last week or so and I will be starting very soon. :)

What about if you don't have these symptoms I was diagnosed with thyroid condition Hypothyroid in late 50's had two son's one with Downs, I graduate with Med major management special needs with Blind,Deaf, now Downs teaching. Put on Synthroid I am in 60's exercise never smoked, drank, eat since 2000 chicken, size deck of cards, same with salmon, half plate of vegetables, Salads at lunch, lots of water green tea nuts. I just went off med. Why? Every night leg cramps, I finally read side affects from tremors had, leg cramps I kept telling primary he just said drink more water which I do, distilled . I won't take they must check do all test. I want a good test for nutrition see am I deficient in iodine I was told in 2000 by nutritionist no salt. I just purchased Celtic sea salt, just began using. Interesting I was diagnosed bipolar I don't nor ever been depressed. The conventional Doctors are ignorant im my eyes. So I won't go. There is Functional medicine.

Is it possible to have a hormone deficiency and not have a TSH level that is above 2.5?
I've been having low vitamin D for the last several years and every time I try to consistently take vitamin d tablets, I get adrenal fatigue and waking up in the middle of the night with sweats. I've also been having issues keeping my blood sugar at a safe level as well but haven't been diagnosed with any kind of diabeetes.

Hello and good day. My TSH is 3.28 (Normal Values 0.27 to 4.20); My T4 is 70.65 (Normal Values 66 to 181); My T3 is 1.21 (Normal Values 1.3 to 3.1). TSH is near the max value. T4 is near the lowest value. T3 is less than the lowest value. The doctor told me that I have non-toxic goiter after examining my neck. I am taking levothyroxine 25 mcg for 11 days now as prescribed by my endocrinologist. Should I continue with the medication even if the root cause has not been identified yet? Should I be tested for TPO and TG even though the doctor requested me to have thyroid ultrasound?

Great program thank you! Remember that gliadin in gluten is bio similar to thyroid tissue. Also wheat especially is also processed with Roundup and is highly toxic if not organic. Even organic gluten is really bad for most people.

it took me changing to 3 doctors at kaiser to get listened to and get a full panel since I was questioning my symptoms.. They said at first I just need to eat better and drink more water to explain my weightgain.. and other symptoms..3rd doctor diagnosed me and I'm on thyroxine. a friend of mine that's a chiropractor just told me she orders her medicine online with grass fed pig hormone.. so organic vs. synthetic! I'm going to look more into it. We have lots of toxins and need to detox and I hear first and foremost is iodine protocol??? which I'm still confused how to do that!

  • @contentdeletedsorryineedto8937

I have hyperthyroidism and my primary care physician tested my antibodies and it's at 161, which I'd extremely high! my symptoms seem like I gave Graves disease not hashimotos. but I have an appt tomorrow with an endocrinologist tomorrow and an ultrasound in 2 days so I guess I'll see.

Hi i enjoyed your video. it was very informative. My son has been diagnosed with hashimotos. He is 30 years old. His energy level has been low but not as bad as many others. His finger nails have been thinning, peeling of and turning a white color for over five years. He lost all his hair, bald about 7 years ago. Has a lot of issues in the digestive track. His tsh is over 100. The specialist put him on levothyroxine 100 mcg tabs. My question, is it possible he could send this into remission following what you outline in this video while taking the levothyroxine? Some of my reading suggests the body will adjust to the synthetic drug and the thyroid will acually produce less and less becoming completely dependent on the levothyroxine. He has only been on it for about a month. When he was first diagnosed his tsh was only 9 in 6 months it was 120. During that time he was trying a less aggressive armour med. thru his family practitioner. tsh went from 9 to .6 to 56 then to 120. Now the specialist has put him on the levo. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
