I cut grass on the side while going to college I have 32 lawns, and these tips are all true, the number of companies that do not text customers if they get rained out amazes me. It is not hard to put all clients in a mass text message and let them know what is going on, communication is critical.

If you send out a mass text everyone will be able to reply on that group text. I certainly wouldn’t want to be in on that. Unless you have another way of doing it?

    • @nicholasclaxon9959

@@412Lawn a mass text sends the same message to everyone selected and then when they reply I get individual responses back. Group text is where everyone can see each others responses.
Mass texting saves me time when I am trying to get the exact same message out to several people so that way I do not have to copy and paste. If you have an Iphone you can switch between mass texting and group texting in the settings. If you have an android you can just use Google messages and switch between mass and group texting.

Goal is to earn LOYAL customers; you get more customers by word of mouth.
    The neighbours ARE watching.
My son has his own business, and neighbours go out into the street and ask him to take on their yard.
    Learn how to repair equipment.
Learn business skills, taxes, investment, worker’s comp, everything.
Smile warmly and be polite to potential customers.
You can keep your best customers.
Once you’ve got their yard in order, it will be easier to maintain.
My son uses an app to find the most efficient order to drive to each address; it shaved off 3 hours.

Remember, there is never another chance to make a first impression on someone. Many times, when a customer comes out with the money to pay me, I'll say "this one's on me!". They are stunned. Went from 3 2 yrs ago to now almost 10-15 on/off from word of mouth as I do quality over quantity & 30-1 1/2 hrs depending on yard size is my avg as I’m not gonna over work in this Florida heat/humidity..whatever makes you do quality over quantity that’s good for you being a 2 man crew as I rather ride solo unless being helped by someone I trust..👏🏻🤷🏻‍♂️

Question! Should I get a bag mower? To start? Sometimes it piles too high. Charge extra for pickup? Maybe my current mower doesn’t mulch good enough? Is mulcher enough? Thanks!

Not everyone has that Army pension coming in starting their business.😉
Like you said, that's what worked for you. Most people have to grind it out especially in the beginning.
    Good tips though for real.
