$160 is nothing. You'd pay twice that in Europe. But you're paying for the convenience of not having to check in at an airport, not having to drive a car for several hours, not having to find parking etc. You can just sit back and watch the scenery go by.

California is building a true high speed rail line from L.A. to S.F., but won't be fully operational until sometime in the next decade.
Yes, it’s been mentioned many times that it’s not true high speed rail but it’s what we have in United States and maybe it’s a step in the right direction and hopefully it will at least get some people out of their cars to make the toll roads a bit safer for other people and less stressful. There’s some people that can’t drive due to medical reasons or elderly, and now they can have another way to visit their friends and relatives in another city without being dependent on another person to drive them

I lived in Orlando for 17 years & now live in Ftlauderdale. This will make it easier for me to travel back to Orlando to see family & friends. No more getting up early to drive on turnpike North 20$ toll back & fourth & staying out of traffic, high ⛽️ ,no FHP 🚔 , No 3 hour drive but a hour ride so I can relax 💻 or😴 . I’ve taken the the Brightline from ftlauderdale to downtown Miami. It was so nice & chill the stations 🚉 even got bars & nice chill spots before your train comes. I was on that grey goose and Oj & you can bring it on train with u🤷🏾♂️too. Brightline gettin my money 💰

Cheapest flight I could find was like $90 with spirit which is nowhere near as comfortable. Also trains come every hour making it easier to connect with a flight

you can't fly for that which is great, but you can easily drive for that so this price still has to come down. i would say if you bring the price down from $80 one way to $65 one way this line would increase its odds of success by 200%.

$77 round-trip on a plane sometimes is misleading. I just booked a flight on a budget airline. With the promotion, plus it cost extra to reserve a seat, extra for your baggage, etc. etc. I finally ended up to be over 300$!!
I love brightline but it's pretty disingenuous to call it 'high speed rail' if it's not going above 110mph. By US standards thats very good, but most mainline trains in the UK peak at 125mph and that's not considered high speed.

SUNRAIL was started to alleviate commuting concerns while the I-4 Expansion project was going on. It was supposed to be temporary but it has lasted this long. They want a connection to the Orlando Airport so that should increase ridership.

The section from Orlando to west palm is grade separated and has a top speed of 200km/h which is widely considered to be the minimum speed for HSR
