I gotta vent this. Drove the road for a long time but also haven’t for a long time. I owned a classic xl, drove many trucks. But my favorite ever was driving for jb hunt when they had the flat floor international cab overs. They were so cool. I didn’t have one for long before the century classes came in, my other favorite truck that I hated at first, but I loved it. At the time they were paying up to .41 cpm. I think I made like .25 and it was awesome. But that was a long time ago now. I can’t even drive again if I wanted to because of a break of my left leg and foot. But hell, it’s still nice to see a big freight liner. I’ll always miss it.

I know where a 1998 international 9800i is sitting in Southern California and it has been sitting for probably 15 years as of now. It has a 18 speed with 40k rears and a 12.7 detroit. The truck has about 400k miles on it and the owner originally intended to put it back in service but decided not to because of the upcoming carb emissions regulations at that time. I believe it was parked due to needing a clutch.

Did you check those hots and grounds going from Batteries and going to the Computer. I used to mechanic for a truckin company And my boss had to pay 3500.00 dollars to tow one of his friegt shakers off the George Washington Bridge in NYC and He towed it home. And I had it running 5 minutes after it was there. Theres 2 hots and 2 grounds wires that go to batteries with eyes on them. And they were corroded off. Thats how those were wired the early Detroit 60 Series. But I would imagine you checked them already. I worked on alot of those classics. Great trucks...

my friend bought a 2000 same truck as what you got there , He gave $25,000 bucks for it 4 years ago , 3 months ago he just done a out of frame engine in it a Detroit , It is really a nice ride , These guys let these trucks set at least they can do go out there and fire them up every 3 months let them run for about an hour or too , Try and take the hose from the fuel filter and stick it in a 5 gallon can of diesel and see if it runs if it stays running that way you know where to start trouble shooting

I seen a truck like that. Ended up being a check valve that went bad.
A fresh rebuild from a new mechanic. He ran four bottles of ether and destroyed the new engine. Another rebuild later and it still wouldn't start. So they asked my grandfather to look at it. He pulled the check valve out (little rubber ball) and it was destroyed. Let's the fuel return to the tank.
