Hey! So many advice groups on FB! Which one to pick? They come in all sizes an flavors. Some have become a police state that censors every post admin does not agree with. This in effect controls the narrative and pushes an agenda that is not necessarily in the best interest of the guinea pigs. The only solution I could think of was to create our own group where the "rules" are currently actually non existing and no questions asked to be allowed to join. All we ask that you conduct yourself in an honorable manner Here it is!! facebook.com/groups/137047001051961 where free speech is alive and well.
Hello! I was just wondering if me and my family can go to ur rescue center and adopt a piggie?
@@moozy9157 Yes! GUINEA PIG ADOPTION INFORMATION - PLEASE MAKE SURE
TO READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION
When booking your adoption you will be asked to prepay a $35 deposit that will then be taken off the total that may be due on the day. Sadly some people are making double or triple appointments and only plan on showing up for one. That then means fewer guinea pigs will be adopted out, so sorry for this inconvenience.
HOUSING

Both are the appropriate size for 2 guinea pigs and approved by guinea pig rescues all over the world! All adopters must be willing to get an appropriate sized cage.
Please watch the youtube video on cages to see if the one you have or want to buy is the correct size czcams.com/video/NopXIr8DLww/video.html Small cages are not ok for guinea pigs and can lead to depression, shortened lifespan and several health issues.
Hay and Pellets - we sell Piggies Choice Pellets and Timothy Hay at the shelter at better prices than the pet store. $15 for 10lbs of pellets and $30 for a huge bag of Timothy Hay. Or online - here is a 10% link off for Small Pet Select bit.ly/CAVYLOVE10
Bedding We use Kiln Dried Pine shavings (never use Cedar bedding as it is toxic) and have huge bags for sale for $15. Will save you so much money!
Non tipping pellet bowl - we have new bowls for sale
Hideys - We have a selection of hidey houses available, the Space House being our personal favorite. We recommend getting at least two hideys.

Have a look at this video regarding what and how much to feed your guinea pigs.
czcams.com/video/l4ZIh4t0WqM/video.html
GUINEA PIG FEEDING INFORMATION
GUINEA PIGS DO NOT OVEREAT, FEED HAY AND PELLETS A LOT AND FEED OFTEN
They love diversity so try not to feed the same thing over and over. Everything in moderation so feed different veggies in a day not just one
MUST HAVE READILY AVAILABLE IN THE CAGE AT ALL TIMES
TIMOTHY HAY & TIMOTHY PELLETS should be 65% of the diet
STAPLE VEGGIE SUGGESTIONS
CILANTRO and PARSLEY
ROMAINE LETTUCE / GREEN LETTUCE / RED LETTUCE
KALE
BELL PEPPER
CUCUMBER
EDIBLE FORRAGED WEEDS AND HERBS
FRESH GRASS (make sure no fertilizer and chemicals are used on the grass - free food!)
VEGGIE SNACK SUGGESTIONS that you can feed unlimited (there are so many more veggies though)
TOMATOES
BASIL (some love it others run away when they take one whiff of it)
CELERY (no need to remove the strings - rodent teeth chew through the tough strings easily)
BELL PEPPERS (no need to de-seed a pepper first, they eat the whole thing)
DANDELION LEAVES (sold in stores and also grows wild- free food!)
CHARD, COLLARD OR GREENS LIKE IT
CARROTS
SWEET TREAT SNACK SUGGESTIONS (all fruits are ok but in moderation)
GRAPES
APPLES
BANANA, PEEL AND ALL (ORGANIC)
WATER MELON
CANTELOUPE
ANY KIND OF BERRY
CORN (THE ACTUAL CORN AND THE HUSK ALSO) try to feed organic only
FOODS THAT CAN BE FED DESPITE WHAT YOU READ ONLINE
These veggies do NOT cause bloat. In fact both cabbage and broccoli are common foods fed to guinea pigs in Europe.
CABBAGE
BROCCOLI
DO NOT FEED
ICEBERG LETTUCE - too much water and zero nutrition
MODERATION is the key here. Feed lots of different things so they get a full spectrum of vitamins and minerals they need as each food has different nutritional values.
Vitamin C
Supplementing liquid Vitamin C with a syringe is needed only when an animal is sick, stressed or not eating enough veggies. Giving a daily Oxbow Vit C cookie is acceptable if you are concerned that your guinea pig is not getting enough or needs extra vitamin C.
Fresh Vegetable and fruit juices (or mixes of both) are awesome as well and packed with vitamins that you can syringe into their mouths.

hello! i adopted a baby guinea pig from you around a month ago. it’s leon! i noticed his hair on his ears are gone and he has dry skin where the hair is gone. it’s like he has a sort of fungus? should we bring him back in for a check up?
I dont have any money but I would love to have another baby to add to my family of pigs
@@lailahussain8049 Laila that sounds like Ringworm and is sadly super common in guinea pigs. Try treating it it first What is ringworm?
Ringworm is fairly common in guinea pigs so don’t freak out!
It is a fungus that often presents on the outside and inside of the ears, around the eyes and on the nose. Though it can appear anywhere on their body it is most often discovered in those areas. It is the same as Athlete’s Foot in humans. Ringworm most often does not require veterinary assistance and simple over the counter creams and shampoo can clear it up.
It is highly contagious however, so wash your hands after touching the guinea pig and wear an apron of some sort to prevent spores clinging to your clothing.
Where do they get it from?
They can get it from another infected guinea pig but it can also develop in a guinea pig that has not had any recent interactions with other animals at all.
They simply carry the spores with them and in times of stress or a diminished immune system the fungus can get the overhand.
This sometimes happens in a cage with two animals living together. Only one will get the fungus and the other animal remains totally unaffected. (The same goes for lice and mites)
How do you treat it?
1) Any anti dandruff shampoo like Head and Shoulders, Nizoral etc. Though if the infestation is bad we recommend buying this shampoo “Davis Miconazole” you can get it at Amazon - amzn.to/2LY7n8K
2) Over the counter medicated athlete’s foot cream
SHAMPOO - First of all wash the guinea pig the medicated anti dandruff shampoo
Put a small towel in the sink to prevent slipping and use lukewarm water, lather them up real good and let the shampoo sit for 2 minutes and then rinse.
You must wash the face and ears also. Make sure to pay special attention to the affected areas and rub the shampoo into the skin.
Most guinea pigs do not like to be bathed but this is something that needs to be done. After you towel dry the animal really well you must blow dry them. Never put a wet or damp guinea pig back in its cage.
It will take a long time before they dry by themselves. They will get catch a cold and get sick. Do this for once weekly for three weeks.
CREAM - Apply the cream directly on the affected area and make sure you really press the cream into the skin where the fungus is located. Do this twice daily for three weeks.
I have other guinea pigs do I treat them too?
Yes and no. If they are not showing signs of the fungus then there are obviously no spots to put a cream. However, you do want to shampoo them with the anti dandruff medicated shampoo to make sure they stay healthy.
You should only do that once or twice in the three weeks it takes to treat an infected guinea pig.
Do I need to disinfect the cage?
I have found that treatment of the individual animal(s) is enough. Though it never hurts to disinfect a cage. Use part water and part bleach. Let it soak for a few minutes and rinse off really well.
Just can't stand the kind of people who simply abandon pets especially in places where they might not be found. These piggies are lucky.
Guinea pigs
IKR at the very least why can’t they drop them off at a rescue tf
i know. it’s really horrible, they deserve much better than this. and at least give them to someone who knows how to give these piggies correct guinea pig care.
I want just five minutes with the people that abandoned them. Just five minutes.
How can u see a hopeless animal, stare at it, and just leave! Unbelievable! Everyone should be like this guy!!!
Because the people that have no love ❤️ in their heart’s the sad thing is that they would regather watch the little animal that needs their help lay their pleading for their life as they lay their suffering in pain until it dies ,they are evil people
no, it's ''we should be more like them''
@@bjornpinol8932 that’s basically what he/she just said- “everyone should be like this guy” meaning basically the same thing u said but with “everyone”.
One time i seen a chihuahua get ran over and was limping and bleeding and a guy in a car just picked it up and moved it out of the way like she was nothing and got back in the car and drove away.
People are despicable, honestly they deserve awful things.
Six in a bird cage disgusting!
And thank lord for the guy who brought em 🙏
The cage is small even for a bird. And I agree, I too can't believe how ignorant and heartless people can be
I hope they had a better cage before they dumped them ☹️
I think it actually a rat cage with out the levels but its still too small-
People are awful.
Thank God this wonderful young man for saving these piggies who would of died otherwise,or some cruel person could of got ahold of them.
Have*
I think he had them in didn’t have the money to take care of them and came up with the story
@GoldenPC even if that’s true, I hope he saw correct care at the rescue.
Yes, and thank Saskia and Julia for nursing them back to health.
@@kadenmcclain4826 even so, most people would just sell them or abandon them. At least he brought them somewhere safe.
Their quality of life went from 0 to 100 the second they walked into the ranch ❤️
So true. Saskia is awesome.
So glad those guys took the pigs to Saskia's rescue. Those pigs are lucky they were spotted by good Samaritans who did the right thing. It's nice to see some people do the right thing. These guys went out of their way to make sure the pigs were taken somewhere safe. These pigs are in good hands now.👍🐹🐹
It makes you wonder why the owners didn’t just do this to start. Instead they just put them out with the trash and let someone else make the calls.
@Best Part Of Me yeah unfortunately people don’t think they matter very much
@@Franklin5261 Because people Look at them as disposable pets. It's sad. If anyone did that to a dog or cat people would go nuts and someone would put a stop to anyone doing that to a dog or cat real quick. Sadly people just view guinea pigs as rodents, and don't value their lives as much as they would a dog or cat. I'm really grateful those guys found the guinea pigs and did the right thing
@@adriennequimby3983 Sad but true. I wish more people cared. The good thing is, the more popular this channel grows. The more people Saskia reaches? The more people will start to care and maybe even change some peoples minds about how they view guinea pigs
@I Thought I Was Funny
Yes I really hope that Saskia’s channel helps spread awareness. Agreed, if a dog or cat was spotted in an alley way and people would spend hours trying to rescue it, but a group of guinea pigs that would take a few minutes to take to a place that can take care of them.
I originally was gifted two guinea pigs ( a male & female the male was not fixed and this is important to know) I got another female to add to the group and she ended up pregnant and had three babies. Now I have six and even though it was unexpected I couldn’t ever find myself doing something like this. It literally hurt my heart to see it.
I got three males and one of the males was a girl and she had 5 babys
Remember to tell where you get them from to double
Check the parts so you don’t grow a family unless you want to. That’s what happened with my
Hamsters. Years later my family still lives on
Thank you to whoever the nice man was who went out of the way to get these little ones to a safe place. Poor things are scared to death and have no clue what veggies are. The young female that's pregnant who also had some hair loss; they'd probably been fed a borderline diet but now that she's pregnant it's not enough vitamin C for her and the pups. I'm sure that as you said, once they all start eating a proper diet, it will come back.
That last little girl, please name her Goldie.
Thank you to the wonderful gentleman for bringing these precious piggies to Saskia instead of looking at them and keep going!!! Saskia there's a special place in heaven for you!! Thank You and Everyone at LAGPR for all you do!! ❤️🥬🥕🍅🐹🐖🐹🍅🥕🥬❤️
Thank you Lisa!!!
@@ITIsFunnyDamnIT I'm actually leaving here shortly to go get his New medicine for his Hyperthyroidism. He'll start it with his veggies tonight at 7:00. I hope it helps him put back on his weight? He's a Cuy so I'm used to this humongous Guinea Pig and he's shrunk down to almost nothing even though he's still eating everything you put in front of him and drinking water all day? I'm just so glad I had the Dr. run a Thyroid on him. We're going to be on the road to recovery very soon!!
❤️🥬🥕🐹🥕🥬❤️
What a talky and dramatic family. Glad someone stopped for them and knew where to go; I hope they find good homes.
I love the way Saskia talks to these little pigs ❤️❤️ lovely 🐾🐾
Also, we appreciate you Saskia!
Poor babies 💔 I can't even get the greens all the way in the bowl before my piggies comes running
Same lol
I bought my guinea pig at a pet store where she was isolated from the other piggies since she was so tiny. It turns out that she was pregnant as she gave birth a few months later. I loved them so much that I still have all three of them to this day.
It breaks my heart that someone got rid of these little babies just because two of them were pregnant. ):
Whoever did this is subhuman. Abandoning these animals to such a claustrophobic, filthy, dangerous situation is more than criminal.
I'm glad there are still people in this world with the common sense and moral compass to do the right thing.
Yea it should be a felony.
Saskia reminds me of Duchess from the Arostocats with her kittens except it’s guinea pigs
What a great analogy
Yes!
Gem of a comment!
My guinea pig Caramel was from you recently diagnosed with Fungal foot and the athlete foot cream you recommended for him! Thank you! He’s doing much better already!
Keep checking the feet every now and then after they are better - sometimes the fungus comes back with a vengeance
@@LosAngelesGuineaPigRescue I am! And still giving the medication but he’s much better
Hello from France! 2 years back I adopted a guinea pig that was left in a small birdcage for 2 years of her life. She's now in a big cage with lots of freeroaming and 3 little friends. Love your videos and thank you for saving all of these little fluffsters!
This job would make me very bitter and angry. Somebody has to do it and I’m glad it’s you.
And people wonder why I love animals a thousand times more then most people. I had my horse from the time she was young until I had to put her down 28 years later... I believe animals are for life
Same here!
I understand your love for animals but choosing animals over your own kind is down right wrong.
@@Dataisthetruth Depends on why is "my kind". Treat me like you want to be treated and earn my respect. THEN you're my kind.
@@Dataisthetruth If they don't respect me, it doesn't matter you're the same "kin" as me, I will choose a street cat over you.
@@dianefarley37 so if you see a woman about to be hit by a car and a cat is about to be hit by a car, and you could only save one who would you choose?
God bless the work you do in rescuing guinea pigs. Hope they find forever homes.
The third one screaming just broke my heart 🥺 baby was so scared
They look so cute I hope they can soon find their forever homes and stay happy at the rescue
@Ojas Jha wtf
My puppy is also a drama animal who enjoys screaming when he doesn’t get his way.
it sincerely makes my blood boil when people drop of animals in general and abandon them! They are like babies , how could you just leave them there... Its horrible and evil. Thank you guys for being literal angels !! May god bless you guys :)
How can people be that cruel to such sweet little creatures, thank goodness they were rescued at the right time. Poor piggies.
Aww you are so kind to rescue stray guinea pigs. I am honestly so mad at the people who abandon their pets.
I mean they are hurting anumals like by leaving them on the roads it's just so sad to see them in such bad conditions
God bless this young man for saving these poor babies. He brought them to the right place to get the care and love they need. God bless.
Thank God, that man was there for those guinea pigs
Giving thanks to you this holiday season and every day for your compassion.
I wish more people had her compassion. Also to the guys who went out of their way to make sure those poor piggies made it to her. They will be well cared for now.
Welcome piggies. Your lives are going to be alot better now
Im pretty sure ive seen that cage marketed towards rats and hamsters. But its not suitable for any small animal that i know of. Definitely garbage.
So glad those kind people took the piggies in!
yeah that’s like a travel cage for any animal I can think of. Except maybe finches? But I think even they’d want more space to fly.
Birds fly horizontally so this cage isn't suitable for them either.
Agreed this cage isnt suitable for any animal.
That space is tiny even for a hamster. I’d use it just as a travel cage
My Heart Just Breaks Seeing Animals Just Dumped.
I’m so happy that these piggies were rescued. I cannot believe that somebody would have them in a BIRD cage in the first place.
I'm shocked that somebody has the heart to abandon these cute babies!
Love you so much Saskia.... 😘❤️
This is not a bird or guinea pig cage, no animals should live in that. Glad you were so kind to rescue these piggies❤️❤️🥺
Makes me want to run and collect all the abandoned babies :) thanks to the dude who did the right thing!
They went through a very hard time but now they are part of the super awesome happy Guinea pig club. One of those baby boys just found a home with a wonderful family and I was so happy that I could help. The baby's new name is Skittles and he found a wonderful friend named jelly bean
That wonderful news!
So happy for Skittles!
Yayyyyy!!!
That is Great News!!

Just straight sad😭 pisses me off😠 people get guinea pigs and don't want the responsibility of taking care of them glad there in her hands now god bless😇👀👀
Maybe the landlord threatened eviction if they kept the piggies? That happens alot landlords care more about their investments then animals.
@@winning3329 yeah probably I have a neighbor who had a hamster and purposely killed it for no reason he bought it from the petstore I hate people like that
Yea sadistic people who torture and kill animals need need life in prison.
It pisses me off that people have the audacity to do this to animals
Kirsten Rubarth people are losing their jobs and can't afford their pets unfortunately. Some animal shelters losing funding and others are full it's sad times.🐹🐭
gbjanuary Regardless of hard times, that’s no excuse to abandon animals in a situation where they will starve to death and can barely move.
Kirsten Rubarth Right she’s so positive on this channel I would’ve been ranting the whole time about the piece of shit who left them to slowly die like that.
@@gbjanuary My bet is these were pandemic pets, impulse buys with the stimulation check. No responsible person would breed guinea pigs when there are already so many in L.A. County. No excuse for ever getting animals of different sexes and letting them mindlessly breed.
I would find the person that did it and choke them to death with my bare hands.
I’m constantly amazed at your stamina in taking in these little ones and your good humour. You are amazing!
I fell asleep watching your videos last night and woke up because another one started and all I heard was wheeking LOL
And poor babies :( I am so thankful for you and all that you do for all these piggies 💕💕💕
How can people dump guinea pigs??? It’s so sad. They are beautiful too! Really stunning x
Poor baby too traumatized to eat. Thank you for the good care you gave them
I want to take all these piggies home and love them! Bless those two for caring and the LAGPR for all that you do!
Oh no they didn’t! ☹️ thank goodness you’re there. I need to visit soon!
Saskia is Gods gift to the world
Thank goodness they were found and brought to the rescue
Thank you for saving those little ones! I wish the state I'm in has some sort of a guinea pig or rodent rescue. You guys are doing great work!
Yay for this honorable young man who did more than stare at the abandoned guinea pig family in alley. He changed his plans and made the time to find Saskia’s rescue and drive them there. Now there is hope for them all. They will be clean, safe, dry, comfy, fed, and medically treated so they can be as healthy as can be. (I am only halfway through viewing. I hope they all had a hsppy ending. I am very touched by how many animals are being helped by this rescue.
Piggies’ faces are the cutest, the sweetest, the most beautiful thing in the world❤
My family and I owned 5 piggies and I would never abandon them like that. Unfortunately, we had to rehome our lovlies but couldn't find a suitable home for them right up until my eviction day of vacating a rented property. Do you want to know what I did 2 weeks before??? I rang up my local guinea pig rescue and explained my situation. All 5 of my piggies were welcome as soon as but we chose to keep them with us until eviction morning. It was sad. I was in floods of tears while driving them up to their new temporary home. But it was worth it because this Guinea pig rescue reassured me they would not rehome my piggies to an unsuitable new home.
Thank You to that Great Dude!! Thank You Saskia❤ They are so Pretty
Poor babies. Thank goodness for everyone involved. God 🙏 bless everyone

😔 So sad. I hope you show the baths though. I don’t know why I like learning about that but I do.
It was really sad watching this and thinking what they've been through. I really hope they all recover well and get good homes where they will be loved and spoilt 💟
Saskia saving these precious piggie angels
Watching Saskia just clip their nails like that absolutely shocks me, she does it so quick and there’s like no reaction out of any of the piggies... for me nail clipping day is a whole event!!
It amazes me how you just clip the nails so easily!
I was cracking up at the pregnant piggy just screaming in the corner!
Thank you for all the work you do, Saskia! I'm glad the good man came by to save them from the ally.

The last one is so cute
Makes me sad that people do this. I have two piggies and I absolutely adore them! Thank you for saving them!
I lost my piguea of 5 years Yesterday I cannot imagine leaving them just like that, how horrible, so glad that these guys found them and took them to you, bless them
I am so sorry for your loss. You gave that pig a good life though that it may not have otherwise not gotten. May your piggy rest in peace. 🌹🌻
Poor piggies! I am so glad that the guy brought them to the rescue. Please keep us updated.
This is so sad! They were just so hopeless. Thank god for the man who saved them! 🙏🏼
I sadly lost my guinea pig on Christmas to old age, I am still happy to watch these videos. A bittersweet thing to see baby pigs cause as much as I love piggies I’m not in a place anymore to own one cause I’m a owner of many birds.
I’m so glad that you have them now poor little piggy’s are so scared and there little heart rate goes up when they are scared and stressed 😥
It's just so sad that people can be so heartless and cruel. Some people really lack empathy and compassion. But as witnessed in this video there are still good people in this world who will do the right thing. Like the two guys that made sure they got those pigs to Safety, and like Saskia and her staff and volunteers, like most of us would do. Those pigs are in the best possible place they could be. Sometimes when we see something so horrible like that it's easy to forget about the good people in the world. This video shows both and reminds us there are still good people in this world with compassion and empathy
I'm really hoping as the more popular this channel gets the more people will start to realize just how much guinea pigs need an advocate and more people to step up and do the right thing.
Love animals especially guinea pigs and rabbits
Thank you good Samaritan s for bringing the piggies to the rescue. Hope they find a forever home.
