Folks, this video was uplifting to say the least.
Since mankind's footprint on the Earth hasn't been very good over the past two centuries, it's nice to see some ways that people are trying to make our footprints turn and head in the right direction for a change!
One of the more meaningful videos I've seen this year! Thank you! 👍

It would be great if number 4 was implemented world wide, for an cleaner echo friendly stream of water.
3 is also an wonderful idea.
:D 2 will provide a constant water collection point.
Number 1 is great as well.

I’m in favor of most of these innovations because they’re not destroying huge swaths of land like the very inefficient wind farms and solar arrays. These things actually help the planet.

not trying to dis, but were are still polluting the atmo, even while trying to save it.
Take the so called "green energy" Electric cars. It still requires a rare earth mineral that takes SWATHS of the Amazonian rain-forest just to get a single pound of it.
As well as the solar panels and wind turbines in the U.S, these require minerals dug from everywhere, and after they've gotten everything useful out of the area, they just leave it there like an open wound.
Solar is a better alternative to turbines, but it will still take space and resources.
im not sure if i got my point accross right, and i may not have the most facts for these statistics, but this is my view, and im not trying to force it on anyone.
Plz have a good day, and plz, think big and shoot for the stars, cuz if you miss, you're still going in the right direction. i wish you the best of luck.

I really liked the water turbine that makes 8x more energy than solar. and creating a ceramic-based reef as well. I have an idea which combines the river energy turbine with earth ships filtering systems that clean the incoming and outgoing water, as well as mills, saw and flour mills to save on the carbon footprints. When digging the trenches for the turbine extend them 10 x longer. and in six sections alternate between micromesh filters, pollution absorbing water plants and charcoal after it hits the turbine and have that fork off one back into the river or creek then the other into your home and the mill{s}you might have on the property then filter the water five times dishes bathing drinking toilet use into a black water underground lake for farming needs. I'm disabled and a looking for ways to be totally off-grid outside cable wifi and cell phones

Pollution eating roads, something I saw used as a drive-able path in a housing complex ( emergency vehicle access ) and beside a detached house as back yard vehicle access way. They place decorative bricks on the ground and plant grass in the holes in the bricks, you have to move the grass but you can drive on them.
every city street done like this would be eating the pollution of the cars driving down them.

    • @pd4165

I have them outside my house - I park on it.
It's owned by my local council, who installed it about THIRTY YEARS AGO, and who mowed it twice before killing the grass with weedkiller because mowing it cost them money.
There's a fair amount of it around the area, but it's just decorative concrete (bad for the environment) with a few weeds that can survive the persistant weedkiller they put down.

could you make the turbulant turbine work with out a stream, a series gutters or ducts that rise to a point where gravity tkaes over to make the water run down and spin the generator, using something like the water pump in this video but on a smaller scale that will make both work effeciently in a closed loop system

    • @lamebubblesflysohigh

I have pointed this out elsewhere, but Pavegen needs to be very cheap, very efficient and very long lasting to be useful. Anyone screaming about a windmill or PV panel needing materials and energy to make that has it's own carbon footprint is either a moron or a fossil fuel lobbyist, we have already proved that those pay back their cost in money and CO2 quickly and then supply us with 100% clean energy for decades. A tiny device that relies on very slight movement to operate and does not look easy to mass produce or install does not sound like a good candidate for accomplishing the same. Sure, it is a very easy way to make people notice something is happening as they can feel it under their feet and probably see some kind of ad screen light up, but I want to see some math on how much is the cost per watt and what is the payback time. I am willing to give it a pass as an art object or means to promote awareness, but to really benefit the planet it has to be more efficient than paving the same area with Solar Road panels. Also more longer lasting than current Solar Road tests have managed...
The Energy Vault also needs to show some math, though that video was far better and more informative than the previous one. It has been mentioned on YT before, and some people thought it only uses a single tower of maybe one ton blocks... Still, for maximum efficiency you don't just lower the blocks in couple outer rings but line them on the ground for the whole length of the crane arms, that way over 90% of the blocks can be used instead of just 2/3rds. Also, building tall towers of blocks raises couple of questions that should be obvious like if you build them to store solar power, won't they shade the solar farm, and if you build it for a wind farm instead, how safe is that Jenga tower in an area that was, by default, selected for having lots of wind?
I do have to point out though that the people who think the motors and cables would degrade and break immediately and the crane can't place the blocks accurately clearly have no idea about the current state of technology that goes to either cranes or elevators. The Energy Vault is mature and reliable technology and also pretty cheap, the basic science works and in theory building a huge number of them is a perfectly working solution for energy storage.
But I want to hear more recent news about the prototype and estimates about cost per megawatt before making judgement.

My one issue with that is the energy cost to build the tower.
You actually will get less out of it than it takes to build it making it not a cost effective method. Lifting the blocks takes energy, lowering them generates it, but you use energy to lift the cables back up as well, the friction on the movement does reduce the amount of energy retrieved yet adds to the costs to store it.
If the tower stored 10 mega watts of energy, you spend 10.5 mega watts to build it you lose a bit of money every time.

@@jaquigreenlees No, it is NOT an issue. ALL ENERGY STORAGE TAKES MORE ENERGY THAN IT RELEASES! We are not looking for a machine that creates energy from nothing, we want a way to have energy whenever we need it. Pumped hydro and the best batteries can barely reach 80% efficiency, and there are projects involving pressured or liquefied air that manage to make a profit at 60-70%. All of those manage to create profit because they can provide power cheaper(and greener) than power plants burning fuel.
The Energy Vault blocks are 35 tons each, cables that can lift them are little over a ton per 100m and you get energy from the weight of the cable going down too, so the energy costs of operating the cranes are insignificant. It also has no pumps or turbines between the energy going in/out and the energy stored like pumped hydro and pneumatic storage, the blocks are even cheaper to make than steel tanks, and everything in it is far simpler and cheaper than the advanced chemistry and electronics needed for batteries, let alone projects like making hydrogen; it clearly has potential to be both highly efficient and cheap to make in large numbers.
We need more data on how efficient and economical it can be and how tall you can build one safely, but there are no issues with the science. The only problems are if it can be safe and economical in the first place, and assuming it works there will definitely be a size it works best at, meaning if you need 1.1 tower's worth of output or storage you probably must build two full size towers instead of making one little bigger or trying to save money by building two at 75% size.

Instead of having summits to just talk about what to do about climate change/ global warming, why don't the leaders around the planet actually implement these great ideas into being put to saving the planet??? Corporations need to step up and make edible packaging available to the public NOW, because there is no time to waste, otherwise, more useless crap will go into water and the land. These are the great ways to save Earth, or we lose everything forever. While saving the planet we also need to put a stop to hunting and poaching animals, because after all they are the true owners of this planet because they were here before us.

Yah, it's a human and I'm guessing probably from Earth. Am I correct? What's my prize? LOL no LOL.

Hi there is solution for energy. why not produce energy from something which man created for his own purpose. Plastic or garbage which is used in day to day life think about every human as to fulfill fundamental things it include usage of plastic and oragnic or non organic substances. If we are able utilize human and animal wastage why not what I said pollution free, go green many more.
