    If I remember correctly, people would often marry further into their family in the past, unaware of many aspects of genetics. I believe that was especially true with royalty as they wanted to keep their blood "pure" or something. So, in that regards, it wasn't that odd that beast were to marry his cousin.

    • @danynes4710
      @danynes4710 Před 6 lety +5

      snowymitts yes, throughout history royal marriages took place between relatives. It was a "nobody's good enough for us except us" type of thing. It was also to keep rule of the kingdom in the family.
      You want to know what's worse than cousins marrying? In ancient Egypt pharaohs often married siblings.

    In all fairness about the cousin thing, in that era it was common for cousins to marry, i'm not sure exactly when it was stopped but i've heard of some cases nowadays when you're allowed to marry any of your cousins, from Second cousins onwards (wouldn't do it myself lol but love is love lol)

    I watched the movie this weekend and something that I found very disturbing was that when Belle and beast were racing in the ball room it looked like Belle was racing with a devil. I was maybe two seconds but disturbing.

    Now I myself am an artist / cartoonist and I know well to all that with "The Dark Side of Disney" Yes, many of their stories are old folk tales and stories from 17 or 1800. Some of them are from The brothers Grimm from Germany (They wrote not even the stories but, got them released) and Hans Christian Andersen from Denmark. I myself am from Denmark.
    :-)

    In those days it was highly common for royalty to wed someone of their own family to ensure that the money and power didn't leave the family. It doesn't make it any less taboo today but it does make sense for the period the story was set in~

    When I was a child. There was a claymation version of " Beauty and The Beast ", The beast was a mix between a wolf and a lion, she had to go through a small maze everyday, and all the servants were "ghost like" or invisible. The two lead servants were animal hybrids through. The Beast did not die because of a side effect of the spell. The rose is different to, it is frozen in time, until it wilts. Then the spell is broken.
    They simply called instead of " Belle ", was changed to " Beauty Elizabeth ", it was from around 1989 to 1993. It was pretty good, I am disappointed it is not online through. It is sad, what his family did to him. So Beauty is a princess already. The cousin thing is not weird, if they are very distant or did not know.
