    I have that same outfit as well as the Tahoe model (same stove with different legs and red shelves are extra). I cooked 9 pounds of bacon with no wind protection for a men's group breakfast. It completely filled that grease cup. With the full griddle, you cannot see when one of the burners blows out from wind. When the griddle is fully loaded, it takes 2-3 people turn, unload and load bacon. It's very easy to warp the big griddle even on medium heat. When bacon grease drains away from the center of the griddle, that's where the warp occurs. Bacon actually cooks slowly and then it burns if not promptly removed. Cooking ONE pound of bacon works well for a single cook and a few folks. Even on medium heat, one person cannot keep up with the stove. Learn to cook on the lowest amount of heat necessary. Unless you are doing a crab boil or canning, go with low heat and keep the IR thermometer in your pocket.

      I’ve had one under my out door kitchen for 2.5 years. Have the griddle 3 burner and it came in handy for pancakes and stir fry. That said I use my cast iron skillets on mine almost exclusively now. Only complaint is that the body rusted out really bad. For it to have been under a roof all the time I was disappointed. Just replaced it with another that will be covered with their cover and I will may have to break it down after use. Not many competitors Outland has one but I stuck with camp chef. Hope this one holds up better.

    GT, on another site I was discussing grill mats. Mine is not quite large enough to give good coverage and I recommended using some drywall to extend the coverage. I don't know how many cooking devices you own but a single sheet of 5/8" could be cut down to manageable size rather than buying expensive grill mats.

  • @tkendr01
    @tkendr01 Před 5 lety

    This is an excellent stove. However, in north Texas in August, I'm going to cook indoors most of the time on my kitchen equipment. My cooktop has several burners at 12,000 to 14,000 BTU each. Each Camp Chef burner is 30,000 BTU but all the literature recommends starting on low to avoid griddle warpage.

    By now, you have watched a few Todd Toven videos on CZcams (he does Blackstone demos for Cabela's). In order to increase your Pro 90X time, I recommend his recipes and food choices. A Pro 90X is NOT a "slow cooker" - choose foods that take advantage of all that heat. Don't cook in one-meal quantities, cook for one meal today and the same meal tomorrow. On the third day, choose something else. If you are going to spend the time running a hot stove like the Pro 90X, cook up enough food at the same time to practice cooking "at capacity". Just don't try to eat it all at once.

    It will be money well spent to purchase a grill mat to catch grease spills from the stove. We have stained concrete but a wood deck will have the same issue. The grill mat is a masonry product available at home centers. They are not expensive (about $40) compared to refurbing your back porch,

    Safety clearances: Never operate this appliance
    within 10 ft (3 m) of any structure, combustible
    material or other gas
    cylinder. Never operate this appliance within 25 ft (7.5 m) of any flammable liquid. (From Camp Chef Safety Instructions document). You can STORE a cold stove wherever you like, preferably with the LP supply disconnected. However, before lighting the appliance, make sure that proper minimum clearances are satisfied.

      Family story (conventional LP grill with exhaust from the rear). My son's friends used his LP grill at his house without pulling it away from the plywood garage exterior wall. It scorched the white paint and could have set the house on fire. The burn marks are still there. Don't let this happen to you.
