    I think one of the easiest uses of Bide Your Time is for reruns where you know shit will hit the fan at specific points of the game. Be it agenda/act advances or specific locations where extra actions will be very helpful on a given turn.

    IIRC, ugrading 2 copies of Dark Horse 0 means your legal deck has one fewer cards, so you can freely add a level 0 card. I think it works the same as exiling a card, and if your deck is below the legal limit, similarly freely adding a level 0 card.

    I think Mystics and Rogues were the big winners in this box, there's some seeker stuff that's cool but also a fair bit that's fairly blah and all the science stuff bar suvival technique being seeker is pretty weird, figured with the scientist being a seeker with science access, they'd spread the love a bit. Maybe a future box will let Kate make a multicoloured experiment deck.

      Agreed. Mystics and Rogues won because most of their cards supported their investigator's archetypes. Kohaku got a lot of blurse support and Alessandra got a lot of parley support. Guardian and Seeker were half cannibalised by bless and curse. Wilson doesn't get a good Tool weapon in the set and Seekers "succeed by exactly x" archetype is half-baked. Survivor ended up getting a complete hodge-podge of cards. I thought that moving damage around would be more of a thing but it ended up only being two cards. I guess Dark Horse is supposed to be this sets archetype?

    I actually was messing around with a Pete Dark Horse deck (wanted to break it out to see how the permanent Dark Horse changed things), and Hunting Jacket became and excellent card for that deck, particularly in the opening hand. It allows Dark Horse to temporarily burst up in resources, whether it’s to pump your Compass or Axe, or if you just drew the big man on campus late or something. It made a huge difference in my games.

    Looking forward to the group video. Thanks for doing these! I've avoided spoilers except for these, so I've been waiting on your videos.

    I laughed at how when Justin read the text for Bind Your Time, he copied Lily in the artwork with his arms.

    Another banger video, Justin. I think the new basic weaknesses are extremely well designed.

    To really solidify curse they could have added an Armageddon (2) and eyes of chaos (2) to smooth the upgrading path

    Fire Axe upgrade turned out to be the most disappointing upgrade in the entire game for me 😔 2xp for Fast ain't worth it and it's so uninspiring and boring upgrade to such a classic card

    • @Cpt_nice
      @Cpt_nice Před 5 měsíci +1

      It also gets two fist icons instead of 1, which isn't nothing. But yeah, not worth it for two exp

    • @themediater
      @themediater Před 5 měsíci

      Yeah it's an odd one, I think I'll still pick it up in a couple cases because an action saved will occasionally make a difference and let you kill something that would have otherwise lived or whatever. It's very much a "yeah ok, what next" new card to see looking through the new box though.

      Their thinking may have been it allows flex or clue-focused characters to use their hand slots for other stuff, and then only pull out fireaxe in case of emergency (without having to pass the AoO cost). I can see that making it a card to run one of in such decks where I wouldn't run the 0 xp one--especially once I've bought everything important, and 2xp are burning a hole in my pocket. But yes, they didn't exactly wow anyone with that upgrade.

    • @fivifivia1146
      @fivifivia1146 Před 5 měsíci

      @@n.kirkevans6256 everyone keeps saying that, but if you wanna fight once when shit hits the fan then you have seeker events for example to deal some smg in a pinch, you don't spend 2xp for a card you might use for some dmg that requires both a hand slot aaaaaand you not to have resources lmao

    • @n.kirkevans6256
      @n.kirkevans6256 Před 5 měsíci

      @@fivifivia1146 If you think of it as a 5-7 cost 2xp double event that does 3 damage, it's not a terrible include for a late-game and late-scenario flex/cluever. You can afford to give up a hand slot at that point. Or if you are playing it mid-scenario and you have to discard a valued hand-item, survivors are uniquely qualified to come back from that. I'd compare it to "Fortune or Fate." Do you usually need it or always want it? No. But survivor excels as a class that allows them as a team, for lack of a better word, to survive when they receive a real kick in the nuts...

    Are you sure Hunting Jacket follows the same rules as Dayana Esperence? Dayana says "limit" and Hunting Jacket says "max," and iirc those two words mean slightly different things rules-wise.

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I'm spreading what I've seen other people say, but I did read the rules for limit vs maximum and I can't parse a difference between the two terms based on the wording of them (other than the fact that if two players have a Hunting Jacket in play, the max 3 carries across all copies of Hunting Jacket).

    • @waltercardcollector
      @waltercardcollector Před 5 měsíci

      Hm ok. So did they reverse the rule about putting another card under Dayana, or does that apply to Hunting Jacket as well?

    • @PlayingBoardGames
      @PlayingBoardGames  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Keep in mind my knowledge on this is incredibly limited since I started using only the rulebook and official FAQ for my own sanity, but, as far as I know, the Dayana ruling has not been walked back. Other email rulings have been, but this is not one that has.

    Hunting Jacket says "Then..." that requires the previous statement to have resolved for it to resolve. So No you cannot continue to gain 3 resources.

    • @waltercardcollector
      @waltercardcollector Před 5 měsíci +3

      Actually the rule is that even though the card says "max 3 cards attached," you are allowed to attach a 4th card, as long as you discard back down to 3 attached cards right away. So yes you can continue to put cards under it to get 3 resources each time.

    • @christianbay7614

      @@waltercardcollector Do you have a link to that?

    • @waltercardcollector
      @waltercardcollector Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@christianbay7614 The card "Dayana Esperence" has similar wording and it's mentioned in the video around 11:33. Dayana says you can attach events to her and says "limit 1 attached event" but the devs have ruled that you can attach another event if you discard back down to 1 attached event immediately (which unfortunately I do not have a link to but I remember PBG mentioning in other videos). Though now I'm actually doubting that this applies to Hunting Jacket, because Hunting Jacket says "max" and Dayana says "limit" and iirc those two words mean slightly different things rules-wise.

    • @christianbay7614
      @christianbay7614 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@waltercardcollector That must have been from that period of crazy email rulings that came out because it is not listed in the FAQ and it is not listed on ArkhamDB as far as I can see.
      The FAQ specifically says that:
      "Another copy of that card cannot enter the specified play area if this limit has already been reached. Remember that limits are player specific"
      As for this being a "max" makes it even more limited because max is a limit across all players so two players with Hunting Jackets have a shared maximum of 3 cards distributed across all Hunting Jackets.
      "Imposes a maximum across all copies of a card (by title) for all players."

      I also cannot find this rule. "Devs have said" is not a strong basis for a rule, if it's not written anywhere. This Dayana interaction is way-unintuitive.
