I used an angled piece of plexiglass to replace the missing/broken off stop tab and reinforce the remaining flapper stop tab. I used silicone on the back side of the remaining original flapper stop tab and an adhesive pad that was on the plexiglass angle to stick it to the roof of the skimmer box . If you find a piece of angled plastic (or stainless steel) that works you could secure a replacement flapper stop with silicone alone making sure it is undisturbed until the silicone is fully cured. The existing flapper stop tab was very useful in positioning the replacement flapper stop that I devised,but, obviously a replacement flapper stop could be adequately positioned even if both tabs were broken off.

Great question! Basically that there are ways to modify or repair the built-in, non- replaceable flapper stopper for you pool skimmer box. Sorry it wasn't that clear! I suppose its kind of obscure,but, it is pretty easy to find an "L" shaped piece of material that can be secured to the box entry with adhesive(s).
